[TB4CP] The October Cabinet

Day 4,702, 11:02 Published in USA USA by Tyler Bubblar

At this point in my erepublik journey I am a known commodity. My style and methods are a mystery to no one. One of the great things about eRepublik is the diversity of its player base. As a RL American it is a refreshing change for me. Americans live a uniquely insular existence. Most of us have only ever been exposed to our own culture and the language of your birth. So the opportunity to play this game with people from all over the world is fun for me. This game has exposed me to people, ideas, and diversities that are just not on offer in the everyday life of a middle class mail carrier in Northern Utah or Southeastern Louisiana.

Which brings me back to my style and methods. I try to build as large and diverse a team as possible. If there are people who I have not had the opportunity to work with prior then all the better. Some of the best friends I have made in this game were those who I did not know prior to serving in a Cabinet with them. Cabinet/Team building has always been my favorite aspect of being President. Without further ado I present the October 2020 Bubblar Administration.

Chief of Staff: Blande

Blande and I have both been around for years. We have both served in more than a few administrations. Yet we have never worked together in the same Cabinet. I am excited to remedy that. I have heard many great things about Blande especially about his ability to keep a Cabinet churning along. I look forward to seeing him in action first hand.

State Department: DMJ, Carlos, and Kevin Sheridan

Carlos is another exemplary player I have heard great things about, but not had the privilege of working with. DMJ is a rock. He was my Chief of Staff during the summer and was frequently involved with Foreign Affairs during that time. Kevin Sheridan is an old friend of mine. He was Secretary of Interior during my first two terms as CP in September/October 2014. He went on to be involved in many CP administrations after that. After a hiatus he is back and wanting to get involved once more.

NSC/Defense: Yui and RT

Just in case anyone missed it, next month the resource wars are returning. A little over 4 years ago the NSC under Yui absolutely killed it. In one of my final CP articles I touched on their performance. We have a chance to once again emerge from a resource wars with enviable bonuses. This will be a much more extensive team than what I have listed here. Resource Wars will require a great deal of coordination, directing of damage, and communication Yui and RT will be taking point in this endeavor but I have asked a small handful of others to help them with this, and they will of course have autonomy in staffing and directing things for this month.

Domestic:

Secretary of Media, Press Secretary, Secretary of Education, Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Citizen Affairs, and the now defunct Secretary of Homeland Security. What do these posts have in common? For a long time they were regarded as having little to no value in strengthening one’s resume in pursuit of becoming President. If you did not check at least two of the boxes in regards to serving as Chief of Staff, Secretary of State, NSC Chair, and to a lesser extent Secretary of Defense (back when SecDef was basically in charge of USAF) you would not be taken seriously in a run for President.

Many players over the years were so good at a particular area they were rarely considered for anything outside of their niche. This was especially true for those who handled the position of Secretary of Media well. You became typecast. This happened to me with Homeland Security. For a long time I could count on candidates for the Presidency offering me Secretary of Homeland Security which I would always accept, but inwardly wished just once to be offered Chief of Staff or Secretary of State.

However, the perception that these positions do not matter is a false one. Many former Presidents were given their first Secretary level jobs in one of the Domestic Departments. My first Cabinet post was Secretary of Media. WildOwl had his start as Secretary of Education. Melissa Rose started on the National Stage as SecMed. There are countless others. These posts matter to those looking to advance themselves, and they also matter for the overall health and engagement of the community.

These departments are the ones that run games and contests. They distribute the programs designed to boost activity and keep the citizens of the eUSA supplied. These Departments keep us informed and engaged in the goings on of the Executive. When we are going to war, win a war, or are about to be under attack these Departments are the ones that tell us the who, what, when, and why of it. They are crucial.

This month they will be working in concert to provide a fun and hopefully engaging event that I and Paul Proteus teased over the summer. A National Scavenger hunt with a Zombie Apocalypse infection mistaken for Pinkeye backstory. There will also be redemption for the oft murdered Paul Proteus during the various press briefings of my last 3 terms. King Taco has worked very hard in coding the DOI site to run this event. There will be fantastic prizes and as I said I hope that it is entertaining and fun for those who choose to take part.

Press Secretary: Paul Proteus

This is one of the posts that will be releasing updates and clues for the Pinkeye Event. I have no doubt that Paul will keep us entertained and informed about the goings on of the Executive and the ongoing Zombie Apocalypse.

Secretary of Media: Wilker Nath

Wilker was SecMed for me during two of my three summer terms. He also voluntarily doubled as Secretary of Education. His work ethic is beyond impressive. He will also be releasing clues and backstory for the fighting of the Pinkeye infection.

Secretary of the Interior: KingTaco

At some point KingTaco was allowed to escape from the Interior dungeons offices in my basement. This is unacceptable after an extensive hunt through many fine Mexican food establishments KingTaco has been found and dragged back to my basement. He will be helping with the Pinkeye event and resuming his usual excellence for the Interior.

Department of Citizen Affairs: Wilhelm Rontgen

In May we repurposed DoCA’s purview to be over a National Cooperative we hoped to establish. It took a bit but we did eventually get this program up and running. Max was the founder and architect of the Cooperative. He is passionate about it and I look forward to seeing this program get the attention and media it deserves to continue growing and helping players build the infrastructure they need to become self-sufficient. Millions of cc has been invested by private donors and is there for the asking.

Secretary of Education: Flashback1

I have known Flashback1 for a very long time. We were in the Feds together. He moved to the now defunct LAP as part of the ATO movement, and has always actively worked for the betterment of the eUSA. He reached out to me after my announcing article asking for an opportunity to get involved at the Executive level as that is not an experience he has had to this point. He stated he was open to anything and just wanted to contribute. I am going to have Wilker show him the ropes in Education and am very excited to work with him at the Cabinet level.

As I have stated numerous I enjoy few things more than seeing a Cabinet gel as a group. Seeing friendships and relationships of mutual respect form in a group that prior to being thrown in the mix together and had not had much opportunity to interact is very rewarding. We have rifts in our community. There is no denying that. Some of us do not like one another on an individual level. Some of our Parties have enmity towards other Parties. It is unfortunate and sadly just a fact. I think these divides can be exploited by the bad actors that are also a reality in the eUSA. I believe it is important to narrow the gaps and not feed the suspicions that plague us. For the better part of a decade now I have worked towards that end.

I am grateful to everyone that I have reached out to and to those who reached out to me for your willingness to work for the betterment of the eUSA. Even if I did not list your names on this article you will be involved as many hands not only make light work, they also make the work infinitely more enjoyable. As always I thank you for taking the time to read. I ask that you vote Tyler Bubblar for President October 5, 2020
