The effective tax rate would be much lower for active members of the community somewhere in the 5-8% range.

Just saying i dunno if 20% will win you many votes right now , I could be wrong but most of the country is pretty p*ssed at 10%

I do get that it ends up less than that in the long run if everything goes exactly to plan but still it seems like a lot for the normal player to wrap their heads around.

I actually have figured out how we can work this if Congress is willing to play along.

That is the worst tax system I've ever seen. Most new comers are not that active and even our general population can barely be bothered to ask for supplies and help.

So your master plan is to tax the sh!t out of these people and have tax breaks for actives that can learn the system. This seems like a sink or swim program for new or casual players. As Canada is in a downward spiral I can only see this system causing more harm then good.

I like the idea of the baby boom and have actively watched as our population is shrinking. I remember a few months ago we had over 800 active citizens, and take a look at it now. Also presidential guard is a good idea, government supplied weapons to soldiers that are more active and willing to participate.
However I am on the fence about the taxes, but am willing to read and listen and do what I am elected to do DEBATE!!

I'm willing to give the Presidential Guard system another think if DMV3 can present a good plan for how it would work.

I'm a little disappointed that he hasn't already done that, considering that he already proposed using taxpayer funds for it, and that we'll need to wait even longer still to see a proper plan.

The community and the media is more active than it was when I began my term. I don't see that trend continuing under another CP. Say what you want about my goals,but I keep people logging in.

Congress is just intelligent to know we have an IRC channel or can always set up in game supply depot articles to get the populace supplied. No reason to create more needless PMs while there are already many in place.

The media has a lot more to do with people seeing how empty it is and taking a shot with new writing projects. If you were prompting people to write with rewards and contests yeah sure all you. There wasn't so again not your credit to take.

All you did was finish a war Xichael started and led a failed disorganized occupation. With the amount of funds used across the board some defence battles should have been won. We could have atleast NE'd and used our allies for our benefit. You just folded the whole campaign and our expenses were for nothing.

Yeah you spent money and so did I and many others. It needed military direction that was lacking and not there.

We were being outspent in our occupation. They had 3 million cc in reserves. There was no way we were holding them down but keep playing. They also have a lot more natural damage than we do.

So you gave up while many of your soldiers and citizens were still fighting and spending. Sounds like quality leadership to me.

Correlation does not imply causation. That you happened to be around as more people became active could easily be a coincidence.

I'll give you credit for starting the debate on tax rates but you barely carried it forward. The credit for that goes to Natster and OLloyd. If those two had kept their mouths shut and contained their displeasure it would have been a quiet month.

I think we also owe a debt of gratitude to Muglack. He has pushed forward a discussion on how to use the money that's being raised through our current high taxes that you pushed so hard to raise. With a plan taking shape it appears - and with Rylde promising to top up half of the remaining nest egg fund - this new Congress seems set to be able to lower taxes again.

It's a little disappointing that you fought so hard for a high tax rate without a real plan in place for what to do with the money it would raise and only a vague idea of when we'd lower it again, again without criteria. In other words, it was another plan that was not thought through. Fortunately this new Congress is making the best of the situation and beginning to take a serious role in examining our finances. It's participating members ought to deserve some credit as well.

Active players will pay around 8% under my plan. This will only really effect the types of players who join and never really get active as even two-clickers. Might as well make something off those accounts before they die.

Congress had an aneurysm over 10% , 20% will never pass not in the current climate.

Sometimes i wonder what the hell DMV3 and Rylde would do if they didn't have each other to antagonize.

The idea is that most people who join don't last a week and end uo dying with accounts full of gold and cc. By taxing those accounts we can keep others in weapons and raise money for war. We already supply weapons and food to new players so they shouldn't be WAMing. They should be focused on uograding their TGs. That's where all the real profit is anyway.

Plus this also discourages multis.

You assume they figure that all out - people don't instantly plug into the community when they first join.

They first push a lot of buttons to see what they all do. When they run out of money real fast because big chunks go to taxes and they find they can't do much, they probably quit and find something better to do.

That's a really stupidly good point. until the RL elections in Canada end, any attempt at a babyboom will be stupid expensive. Are Raw Materials companies, run WAM style, for the sole purpose of raising funds for MU supply, falling under this umbrella of tax refund-ness? If so, at what percentage do they qualify?

Raw companies would apply at the same rate as the communes themselves.

Although I don't think it has a snowball's chance of passing, I would certainly be interested in seeing your plan to raise the Work Tax to 20% fully fleshed out and would give it serious consideration. I would also like to see public consultations on the issue, too.

20% work tax will save eCanada from tyrants. Whether DMV wins or loses, the 20% tax will go to congress to vote. The question is do you want unproven leadership managing those funds? DMV's no peach but he isn't the enemy here.

I've heard other candidates talk about this sill wartime/peacetime tax rates. That's the worst idea yet. You don't tax people more when the demand for war supplies is greater. Not if you expect them to be able to fight. Increase today and plan for tomorrow's unknowns.
