You ASKED for good journalism...

Day 708, 21:16 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Hugo Lilly

I'm not normally one to write a serious piece. I'm more of the light-hearted lovable clown type. And let me also preface this article by saying that I am very impressed with the admins in this game. They are surprisingly in touch with everything that's going all over the New World. Their customer service was very fast and responsive when I got hacked a few weeks ago.

Having said all that, now I need to express my disappointment at something that happened yesterday. Ines Schumacher posted a very constructive article commenting on the effect that raising the price of MPPs would have on smaller countries.

I'll just quote her words here, she summarized well what it was about:
"The article was about admins upping the price of MPPs from 30 gold to 100 gold – a move which she argued would severely screw up small countries and their ability to defend themselves. She suggested the price of MPPs should rather be based on population sizes."

The article received over 1,400 votes and 200 comments. It received even more votes than the eRepublik Insider.

The article got my vote, my subscription, and my hat-tip to her! As a loyal citizen of the UNL, the MPP change would have hurt us as well.

Ines' essay was so diplomatic and well-written -- how could this possibly anger the admins? But alas, it was removed. Are the admins really so insecure and petty that even a polite post like that would be deleted?

If you want to read it, it has been moved to the Open Letters section of the forums. The thread is locked, no comments allowed. The comments section of the original article was filled with great follow-up suggestions, now they are all gone.

Having jealously removed the competition, the top articles are now the eRep Insider, and a silly article stalking the women of eRep. Funny how the admins asked for some good journalism, then when they got it they couldn't stand the sight of it.

Admins: please have a little humility. There are many more players than there are staff on your team - it only stands to reason that sometimes we'll think of something that you didn't foresee. It's no threat to your authority to listen to our suggestions.
