Wind of Change

I would recommend this song while you read the next lines: Musical accompaniment

Dear citizens of EDEN countries,

Considering the problems EDEN has been having internally for the past few months, it is our belief that there are some glaring deficiency in the current charter and command structure of the alliance that need to be addressed. Ignoring these problems now can only make the problems worst in the future, if it means we have to be the bad guys to get the healing started, so be it.

EDEN has a charter that has in reality been expired for over 2 years and was never officially renewed so if we get technical, there actually is no EDEN charter and wasn't one when Bulgaria entered the alliance 1 year ago.

Of course one alliance is not build on devoid of meaning words only, so there has always been a faith into the "unwritten" principles and practices of the alliance that has kept it together through tick and thin and some of the hardest months this past 1 year.

Unfortunately this is no longer trough, exploiting this informality of dealings and faith within practices not written anywhere but adhered to on the basis of good faith of all parties involved, the current HQ has started to grossly abuse it's powers. Creating, modifying and reinterpreting in ways that it suit it the charter and any and all practices within the alliance.

The problem with Turkey has made this painfully clear, when the "practice" of 3 month trial, turned into a 1 month trial because Turkey is strong and followed by indefinite trial because it's not specified how long a trial is, to a permanent trial because it is needed 66% of CPs to vote for the end of an indefinite trial once accepted.

Also the long standing division between "founding members" and "other members", which up until now was not being used as a reasoning, but has been used a few times in displaying "differences" in the rights of different countries (it was initially being used as a reason to deny Bulgaria the right to request a summit on the issue of Turkish membership as Bulgaria is not a founding member and only a founding member can request a summit that the SC cannot turn down), has now been augmented with "trial members" and "GEA members". This is as far away as it can get from equality of country members and a brotherhood.

Again for a long time informally these things remained buried away and they were not a problem as they were not used or invoked. As differences of opinion have appeared most notably the now world famous application of Turkey to join EDEN, things have changed.

In addition, the command structure and the HQ are not what the alliance started with they have evolved steadily until now they represent a small group of players who just rotate their positions over time. There are more advisers then military commanders and there is even people who hold two posts at the same time. Again in an informal setting when there is no difference of opinion this does not become a problem.

However when a privileged position is used for vested interests, then it is an undermining factor for the alliance.

For the most part after 1 year of being dominated a lot of people are ready to close their eyes to these things in the name of dominating back ONE, if we do though we become no different then them. In the name of damage and domination we trample all the principles that helped us not only survive but ultimately triumph over "interests".

Some will say this was only possible because Turkey switched sides, I'll beg to differ that it had started long before that and it was only a matter of time, Turkey switching sides only speeded up the process. I can be quoted as saying that the wheel will turn at the time of the biggest domination of ONE.

Main strength of EDEN has always been it's players motivation and not it's "spreadsheet" damage. Because a spreadsheet damage, can only be realized if there is motivation for it. By abandoning our principles as an alliance we're going to loose the one deciding advantage we have over our opposition, one that once lost cannot be recovered easily. Turkey is no longer the meat of the problem they were only the catalyst to expose these flaws and it is now our duty to fix them or go down trying.

This is why Bulgaria will initiate a motion within EDEN for changes to the charter, EDEN HQ and command structure of the alliance which will bring it back to it's former glory and more importantly it's former principles, where each member is equal to all others and the HQ works with not against all or some of it's members.

We would like to present the message which has been sent to all CPs of the alliance already and believe it will shed enough light on it:
Letter of Bulgarian CP to fellow heads of state of member countries of EDEN

It has already become public knowledge, but non the less, to not bore you further we're publishing it.

Only thing that needs to be added is that, in the next few days the Bulgarian foreign ministry will present a revised charter as we believe that it is our responsibility, as initiators, to propose an initial variant upon which this process to begin.

I'll like to end this with something I used to end my articles back in a turbulent and young Bulgarian state:

Be different, be yourself.
