Why would someone throw away dirt?
I think it is a valid question. OK, this has nothing to do with eRepublik. If you don't want to read further then so be it.
Well out here in the real world I have my own business. I am a landscaper / carpenter / jack of all trades. In the summer I cut a lot of grass. I cut about 30 lawns a week. Some big, some small, some close by and others far away. Well, three of these lawns are cemeteries. One is private and two are public. In the public cemeteries I empty the trash cans. Well every time I go to empty the cans I find them filled with dirt.
Dirt
Now we all know that people take flowers to place on the graves of their loved ones. Some are real flowers either planted in the ground or left in flowerpots. There are also fake flowers placed the same way, either stuck in the ground or in flowerpots. Real flowers die, fake flowers fade. Eventually people bring new flowers to replace the old ones. What I don't understand is why people throw away the dirt and dead flowers in the flowerpots? Why? I open the lids to the trashcans and they are filled three quarters full of dirt. I have to dig through dirt to find the trash.
Yes people, throw away the flowerpots. Throw away the faded plastic flowers. Throw away all the other little ribbons, signs, broken wind chimes, baskets and all the other stuff. Please dump the dirt on, not get ready for it, the ground. Yes throw the dirt on the dirt. Not in the middle of the lawn. No, no, no. There are bushes and woods right next to the trash cans. Dump the dirt there. It is not littering people. It is recycling. You can also put the dead flowers there too. They will compost. It is actually good to dump the dirt on the ground. Our landfills are full enough with all the other stuff that we throw away. They don't need to be filled with land too.
Well thanks for listening. I just cut the grass today and this has been bothering me for some time so I figured I would let off some steam.

This is almost deja vu for me Anthony.
I was putting the trash out a few weeks ago and there were 3 or 4 flower pots, filled with dirt ready to be take out. I scratched my head and picked them up to go dump them in my yard. Of course I spilled half their contents on my driveway, not realizing the plastic pots the dirt was in was broken. But anyway, I dumped the rest on a dry spot in our yard, and what do you know, the grass seed that was laid down actually grew!

People even throw away rocks. Rocks!
It is even better when someone accuses you of killing their plants. So much fun.
It would prob make the ground messy with loads of dead flowers and othersuch there. I know in our graveyard(in which I live, ohhh spooky) if you just dumped the soil on top of the grass it would make the placee look untidy.
P.s. I don't live in a graveyard
I think keeping the graveyard tidy is just a respect thing... But I agree that throwing away soil and flowers when you can use it as compost is a waste.
Yes don't dump the dirt in the lawn. But there are plenty of woods surrounding the cemetery which the trash cans are right next to. If you can walk to the trash cans the woods are one more step. The trees will thank you for it.
I hear you man. That would wreck my brain too. I wonder if people are worried that they'll be mistaken for dumping (littering). I can totally see a situation where someone gets reported for "dumping" dirt.
And then there are the ghosts to deal with.

Yes John and yes Connell. Bears also crap on my lawn.
I do have a lot of time to think. I have all kinds of great ideas for everything and eRepublik too. Then I get home and forget them. 🙁 I don't even have to think about cutting the grass I have done it so much. It is like driving when you have stuff on your mind and you get home and don't remember actually driving.
Not to mention dirt is expensive, I imagine its even more so in Europe since your all so compacted.
Well I live in Maine. Plenty of dirt around here. Mountains of it in fact. 😉
