Why William Thomas Riker's Data is worthless

One word google forms:
1. Easy to hack
Go into big mu. Copy paste names from mu.
Submit names to survey. Vote a certain way 50 times.
2. Easy to lie about
Well google forms outputs votes to sheets. Sheets that can be modified. Data that can then be extrapolated to graphs to support any viewpoint you desire.
3. Bias in questions
The survey asked : Would you like to play V1 or rising again?
Allowed answers was 1.V1
2.Rising
3. Both
4. No
Ok the survey did not ask whether you would like the current version of the game discontinued. The survey did not specify - how it would be played again : in a different world or replacing this world.
V1 was clearly not the winner. Rising Both and No made up more than 50% oif the answers. Both indicated he wanted to play both games side to side. No that he did not want to play either. Rising was the predeccesor to the game.
4. Giraffes in the data - Now 70% indicated they played V1 before yet only 43% total wanted to play V1 again
Now here we have a massive headache. WTR never correlated his data. We needed to see the data for each group. For example if a player who never played V1 before indicated he wanted to play V1 "AGAIN" it means based on hype he would like to play the game again.
Also this data should have been split:
Question 1 as is Question 2 would you like the present form of the game then to be discontinued. Yes or No.
Look up giraffes in the data.
5. Zero infomration of different forms - Therefore most would have made an uneducated decision.
WTR should have with precision listed in a checklist what features of the game was present in what form of the game. For example selecting all your employers came with the current format.
WTR should then have given each player the oppurtunity to select what features he would like in a new game.
Or what features he would not like in a game.
6. Unnecessary hype about a poorly formulated survey :-
WTR created the impression that his article would be removed by admins. Clearly, there were no grounds for this. This lead to massive votes for the article as PEOPLE LIKE SHEEP VOTED THIS ARTICLE. Clearly as outlined his survey did not have much mettle could be manipulated. in fact, Im warning the next person who brings out such a garbage survey I will vote your results to smithereens. Ask slaugh who quit as MOC and Ian E Coleman who quit as CP and sweet drinker who stills belief everyone voted him in every category how these surveys can be forced by krakken into whatever hole he wants it.
Thanks for the gold WTR but I cannot agree with your methods.
7. Indicated the following Both and No is in his words synonyms. So people that wanted to play both in his mind voted no. that must be one of the strangest interpretations i have ever seen.
8. also v1 was the only one that was supposed to run alongside this version in a hypothetical situation. what teh vark does that even mean so if you wanted v2 (what then how would this implemented. would this now run besides v1 as well.
Comments
Few things to learn:
WTR sells his article well because of two reasons. One of them being the good quality of articles with enjoyable way of reading them and the second one being his ability to promote it which is equally important imo.
You should rather learn from him than criticise it.
i couldnt even finish that article it was simply too large. well im not a particular fan of stats and certainly never a student. so if i can see holes in your methods . they must be crater size. what you guys should start learning from me is doing things in a transparent above reproach manner. if your procedure is wrong the cart that you wanted to deliver crashed at the starting gate.
Nevertheless its a great initiative to show to admins, again, that something smells fishy.
However in the grand scheme of things i am still convinced that it wouldn`t have mattered, whatever he did, because for the last few months i havent seen any positive vibes from the new owners.
Maybe its just me being pessimistic butthurt. I hope for the best.
because their a holding company : oh the irony. so they acquire games but subcontract the current ppl of the game to work for them as part of the deal . therefore alexis bonte remained in his seat. and their path of small changes remains . therefore the idea of wtr could never be implemented as it requires a massive update.
agreed
RTK: Ok the survey did not ask whether you would like the current version of the game discontinued. The survey did not specify - how it would be played again : in a different world or replacing this world.
WTR: "Hypothetical scenario: the eRepublik Lab starts V1 Beta parallel to the current game." Read the survey.
RTK: V1 was clearly not the winner. Rising Both and No made up more than 50% oif the answers. Both indicated he wanted to play both games side to side. No that he did not want to play either. Rising was the predeccesor to the game.
WTR: Seriously, you are gonna lecture me on my survey? Have you even read its description in full? Rising was no the predeccesor. Beta, Version1 (V1), Rising (V2), V1.5 (V3), in that order. Again, read the survey.
RTK: 4. Giraffes in the data - Now 70% indicated they played V1 before yet only 43% total wanted to play V1 again
WTR: 43.2% (Yes, V1) + 28% (Yes, both) = 71.2% (Yes, V1). Again, read the survey
RTK: Now here we have a massive headache. WTR never correlated his data. We needed to see the data for each group. For example if a player who never played V1 before indicated he wanted to play V1 "AGAIN" it means based on hype he would like to play the game again.
WTR: Player who never played V1 stopped at first question. Those who answered No in the first question automatically submitted the survey by clicking Next. So, there was no way for a new player to say he wanted to play V1 again. Don't be dumb. Again, read the goddamn survey.
RTK: Question 1 as is Question 2 would you like the present form of the game then to be discontinued. Yes or No.
WTR: I don't care about the present form of the game. And the survey clearly stated the new V1 would run parallel to this one. No point in discussing this. Again, read the goddamn survey.
No that he did not want to play either. ohm my gosh will so both and no where synonyms in your survey. confuse mints better ate alone like they say..
RTK: 5. Zero infomration of different forms - Therefore most would have made an uneducated decision.
WTR: Survey is for those who played V1. I don't need to give them information about it, they EXPERIENCED it. I think that was enough for an educated decision. Again, read the goddamn survey.
RTK: WTR should have with precision listed in a checklist what features of the game was present in what form of the game. For example selecting all your employers came with the current format.
WTR should then have given each player the oppurtunity to select what features he would like in a new game.
Or what features he would not like in a game.
WTR: I don't care about mixing V1, V2, and V3. That was not the point.
I didn't have to give anything to anyone. Create your own survey and get off my back. And like I said, it had to be kept short. Goddamn it, just read it first before you make yourself look stupid.
RTK: WTR created the impression that his article would be removed by admins. Clearly, there were no grounds for this. This lead to massive votes for the article as PEOPLE LIKE SHEEP VOTED THIS ARTICLE.
WTR: Two of my articles got deleted in the last 30 days. I still have the Forfeit points. Through my 8 years of playing this, 20% of my articles got deleted, all of them about admins game management and the eRepublik Labs.
SHUT UP, WESLEY!
so you say will. so you say. i played v1 i cannot remember all the details. v2 as well cant remember what came when. perhaps stop being a grinch and they will stop giving you fp points.
So I say? You can't remember what came when? That is something well documented in Wikipedia, Bonte's blog, and official eRepublik Labs page! It's not something from my fading memory.
Dude, you seriously ought to read more.
so the person taking the survey is supposed to do research before he answers your survey? dude this is the internet do you really think people will spend 2 hours to read about what was in the previous versions. kiss keep it simple stoopid. you should have added a checklist with features.

WTR:
1) My favorite is V2. Majority of survey takers voted for V1. So, if anyone faked the results, it wasn't me.
2) Limiting 1 entry per person would require signing into a gmail account.
3) I know you like to spend RL money on a failed game for fame, but if you are really that desperate to fake results in an amateur survey by answering it 500 times, you seriously have no life.
4) Although anonymous, survey recorded individual answers: there are no clusters of identical answers.
no it would not require that. perhaps go and read up on it.
survey hacked or not... number of players who left game after V2 was introduced and who left in the current module speak by themselfs...
btw: V1 ftw! 😛
You sure are big on holes and forcing. Freud would have a field day with this.
you take the chicken you force it into the duck you take the duck you force into the turkey. you feed it to people. freud would go insane within a month.
twice as long as it took you 😁
lol best politician sweet drinker... must be bad to hear i manipulated all of that.
Two things came to my mind when reading that article.
First, he surveys the most addicted fans of erepublik who want V1 back, and than comes to the conclusion people are willing to pay for this. In my opinion not even V1 could attract new players if it was not free. The question is not the amount of money but the fact that it is not free. Games like this have to find sneaky ways to insinuate into people' lives. Paying money is a barrier most costumers wouldn't get through.
Second, it recognizes the failure of the games that copied erep V1, but plays down the fact with stating this one would be different because of nostalgia. A game's ability to attract new people can't be based on nostalgia.
i cannot remember a time when the game was text based and there was a beta game as well. nogin played that. that being said why is the replacement a failure? player retention is difficult for even the best games. in fact there is a great game i havent played in a month. and 1000 player survey hardly qualifies as everyone.
