Why should you vote?

Day 2,439, 05:55 Published in USA USA by Zheng He

I've heard from many of my 2-clicker friends asking me what use is congress, why we should vote, and why is so complicated. So I have put together a short answer:

A 2-clicker (slightly biased) guide to voting for Congress.

QUESTION 1: HOW DOES CONGRESSIONAL VOTING WORK?

The eRepublik rules for voting are a bit odd. The eUSA has more than 10 parties, but only the 5 with the most members ("top 5") get representatives in Congress. Each citizen can vote for one party. At the end of the day, each party gets the number of seats in Congress that is proportional to the percentage of votes received. So if the Albanian Unity Party gets 100% of the votes, all of our CongressCritters will be from the Albanian Unity Party.

Each party chooses representatives to Congress, and places a member in each seat it wins in the election. Strictly speaking, the Party Presidents choose the representatives, but in actuality, most major parties have internal votes to determine 10 to 15 candidates in rank order.

The eUSA Politics page shows the top 5 parties and how many CongressCritters each has this month.

QUESTION 2: WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE?

Because Congress affects our game in subtle, but broad ways.
- Congress grants citizenship to our new immigrants
- Congress decides taxes, including new items like the housing industry
- Congress decides how to spend your money
- Congress determines new laws that affect all of us

Congress may seem like it spends most of its time deciding not to censor its own members, but that's mostly in the public Congressional forums. The real work is done in the private forums. And it matters!

QUESTION 3: WHO ARE THE TOP 5 PARTIES AND WHO ARE THEIR CANDIDATES?

1. Federalist Party (FEDs)
2. United States Workers Party (USWP)
3. We The People (WtP)
4. American Military Party (AMP)
5. The Black Sheep Party (TBSP)

QUESTION 4: WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE AMP?

- Sensible people who put country ahead of party and self.
- Experienced leaders both in the civilian side and the military side.
- AMPers don't waste their time with childish bickering in Congress, but focus on the work of the country.
- We are not the cool kids or the popular kids. We're the kids with the long view who accomplish good things while the popular kids are getting drunk and throwing spit balls.

TL😉R? HERE IS A QUICK SUMMARY

1. Know what voting means.
2. Vote. It matters!
3. Vote for a win.
4. Vote AMP.
