Why Illinois Mattered

13 September 2009, Day 663 of the New World. After being overwhelmed on all fronts and falling back to just Florida, the United States began a valiant campaign to reclaim sovereignty over its territory starting with liberation of regions held by the evil, imperialistic empire of Indonesia.

The campaign initially went well, and we regained much of the South, including Texas, and pressed all the way to the Pacific coast. The charge was momentarily delayed with a loss in California, but a second offensive took Sacramento and Honolulu. Indonesia was out of our continent, but other occupying powers remained – most notably Russia.

Despite how big and scary the Russian occupiers may have seemed, the United States and its allies were winning back territory from Russia and their allies. The victories were empowering, and not even a diversionary invasion by the PEACE puppet state of Colombia could defray that. The United States had tasted victory and grew overconfident in their ability to rapidly repel the remaining occupation forces.

This was the situation four days ago. Then, the Unites States leadership got too cocky and invaded three occupied regions at once. Then this happene😛

Illinois was secured by Russia in the war versus USA
Connecticut was secured by Russia in the war versus USA
Massachusetts was conquered by USA in the war versus Russia

America’s advance was stopped and its hubris revealed. Instead of focusing on one region at a time, conservatively assuring victory, too many fights were left open at one time. With Russia back in command strategically, here’s what they opened up:

Without the ability to halt their advances, the United States lost more territory to the Russian offensive.

The United States remains in a tough situation, presently suffering from the following conditions:

Losing a battle in Missouri (9 hours left, -50k)
Losing a battle in Alabama (15 hours left, -116k)
Losing a battle in Mississippi (15 hours left, -47k)
Losing a battle in Nebraska (22 hours left, -3k)
Losing a battle in Wyoming (22 hours left, -5k)

The United States should have kept their victorious streak going by being more cautious. Allied forces should not have been split between Illinois, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. If the American flag had been taken to Springfield, the Russian breakout could not have linked up with the Colombian or Hungarian zones of occupation The war has now been prolonged and PEACE given even more time to re-mobilize their troops after the reconquest of California.

Illinois, aside from being a region with abundant oil reserves, leads to the gateway to the West. It is a vital part of the United States and it was a mistake to divide resources on the day of its attempted liberation. No territories can be left in enemy hands, lest they serve as rallying points for later offensives – this is a lesson the Unites States needs to learn from the mid-September Russian breakout.
