When someone you like...

Day 3,175, 01:16 Published in USA USA by Foxi Roxi

When someone you like runs for CP, it's customary to give them praise, tell them how great you think they'll do, warn them of the troubles they may face, and even go as far as telling them they're about to make the most horrible of decisions they've ever made to date! But it barely ever comes to publically endorsing someone, to come out in the open, and say, "This is the candidate I think can not only do the job but do it well." The person I'm endorsing is my very good friend and eSon Resoula, call me biased, but he is definitely the type of person I'd trust leading the eUS.

Let me bore you to death with an excerpt from the dictionary:

"endorse - To declare one's public approval or support of"

But it means a little more than that, doesn't it? Now the first thing that usually comes to mind is, who in the world is actually endorsing the individual? Sure, politicians, activists, lawyers, experts, all these people endorse this or that, but do they really know who they endorse? I can say I know Resoula...or Resouia.., he's really a great guy with a great heart. I know, ew someone running for CP who has a heart? Wtf is this eWorld coming to? But honestly, I think we need someone who cares about the community. Someone who can actually bring change to a quite stagnant community.

Anyone who has had the opportunity to talk to Resoula about the community and his opinion quickly finds out it's a topic he is quite opinionated about, even to the point he's a little offputting when you're only being polite in asking and are beaten down with endless ideas, which in his defense are pretty good. He's genuine about how he feels which is a breath of fresh air in a game that is full of people who are anything but genuine.

My endorsement doesn't mean I expect him to make changes overnight. No, I'd never expect more from someone else than I'd expect from myself. And frankly, he has an uphill battle ahead of him. If I've learned anything from RL and eRep, it's that people are stubborn to change, in fact, I'd say they are frightened by it. Most people I talk to who have been here long enough to have an opinion they can back up about eRep, have already given up on it and the community, and for good reason I suppose. We've all seen the writing on the walls, the 'positive' direction the game has always been taking, and we usually just learn to live with them. But every time we lose people, not always immediately, but with time. I feel with a stronger focus on citizen engagement and working to rebuild our community we can help fight this constant decrease in active membership in our ever shrinking community.

Regardless, I still feel that the changes he has planned and has released in his latest articles and the plans I've learned about in our talks over IRC are what we need as a community. Sure we have foreign affairs to worry about, but if there is anything we've learned in the eUS it's that we are far more vulnerable to internal domestic attacks than foreign. With every citizen that quits, the likelihood of foreign influence on our system grows as well. I myself from the time I was gone, came back to see drastic changes in certain parties, and sadly was unsurprised to learn in my absence even more of my friends and acquaintances had left, for a period of time or quite possibly forever.

I am looking at my friends list right now, and it contains a lot of dead citizens, I mean... a LOT of dead citizens. Most of them were active at the time of my leaving and were amazing people to chat with over messages, forums or IRC. I ask whoever is reading this to take a few seconds and look at their friends list, just a couple pages, enough to see how many friends you've lost while playing eRep. I can easily think back to the times I've had with my friends who will more than likely never come back and it doesn't really sit well with me. Sure there are those who leave for other reasons that are obviously more important than eRep, but many could have easily continued on had there been a reason to. Sadly you and I alone will never be enough to keep people here, but collectively we might just be able to make it just that much more interesting. I feel we have been lacking in the area of domestic affairs, and moreover the community at large and again I say to you that I feel Resoula is the perfect person for CP in these always trying times.

I know this has gotten off track a little, but I felt it necessary to stress the point I'm making in saying that I feel Resoula is the embodiment of the direction we need to follow. Everything else might be important too, but without our community and friends, why are we even playing this? To hit a big red button? To click a few times in your factories? To collect a pretty crappy wage? To work in a commune to be able to collect on some weapons and food? Really this game isn't fun at all, it's the people in it, the community, and I 100% support the man I think can get us started down the right path. Call me naive, a lost cause, but this is how I feel and I endorse Resoula for CP and his VP choice Yui. I've seen them at odds more than in agreement as many can attest to, so I know he didn't just pick someone who would agree with him, which is very respectable.

Goodluck Resoula, try your best, I'll always be cheerin for you.

Thanks for readin,
