I like that anyone can vote, Eadrom.
It's not like any of the nominees are undeserving, and it's not like there is some tangible reward worth cheating for. These community awards are for fun, and do not need strict security. An open voting process encourages participation.
Just keep the old system. Ensures that there's only one vote/erepublik profile.
Google Docs is a nice touch but some people might vote more than once then. But I'll let you guys decide that.
