Hi kids!
So I'm thinking to myself, do I write something or not? I'm getting tired of repeating the same thing over and over. People don't seem to understand that we are wiped and there's not much to do except rest and recuperate so when we do have a reason to fight we will be ready. No big plan, no complicated thought process, just fight your daily 25 for allies and save your crap.
Also I don't get the confusion about "mock" Congress. What is not to understand? Let me post a definition I've taken off the internet so that you might grasp the concept.
mock (mŏk) v. 1. To treat with ridicule or contempt; deride. 2. a. To mimic, as in sport or derision.
Both apply here. First the Congress is "mock" because we are poking fun at ourselves, we have no Congress. Second we are only mimicking or PRETENDING to have a Congress. This isn't real. Of course the game isn't real either but that's a conundrum for you philosophers out there.
My Comment Elsewhere
Commenting in another article I pretty much said it all.
Mock Congress serves two purposes. Give people who want something to do something to do and it also could be a good experience for someone who's never actually been in congress to try it out. The whole experience depends upon if people take it seriously or as a joke.
As to producing articles, what are they to produce? Eh, we're wiped. Check back tomorrow. Or maybe, D'oh we need a region so we can have real congress next month.
There is no solution at the moment. We knew the wipe was coming. If you didn't then you really are a n00b. The wipe was discussed way back when IBB started the ball rolling when we attacked the UK. We figured Spain would wipe us for a couple weeks, get bored, we'd make a deal and they'd leave. (Which is what would have happened, it was in the process.) Then this Sirius alliance started up with the US frothing at the bit to come at us. Diplomacy was tried and failed. We made every attempt to join Sirius but were rebuffed. So we became pro Asteria. Then the US went ape shit claiming that we were out to destroy them and they had every right to wipe us. Two months later guess what? They wiped us.
Don't know about you but I need a break. I've spent way to much RL money. It was fun and we drug it out as long as we could. Now it comes down to when Asteria gets around to teaching the US a lesson about picking on their new friends. Believe me it's coming, they just have to straighten things out in their neighborhood before the visit ours.
Where's The CP?
Just seen Rylde's post to the cabinet thread. He's back from spending the weekend with his kid. Everyone on the cabinet knew where he was. No excitement or intrigue. Not a thing going on right now so he had a little down time with family.
As far as media activity please read this article everyday.
Nothing has changed, you will be informed if it does.
If I Could Make A Suggestion
Spring is in the air for those in the Northern Hemisphere. For those on the bottom half it is the end of Summer and soon It'll get colder. If you're around the equator I don't know what to tell you.
At any rate now is the perfect time to go do stuff. Sure we want you to come check eRep a couple times a day. Sure we want you to fight and blow shit up. If nothing else come to antagonize the MDP (we enjoy that most of all). Just take a breath and enjoy life a bit. Either the US will get bored and find something better to do than play 'wack-a-mole' with our RW's or Asteria will get around to slappin' them around. Don't panic, keep calm.

Always thought that "Mock Congress" meant that you could mock the congress members....then again we can do it with the regular congress aswell....all makes sense now. 😃

It is masked so that only participants can post there. Persons that have the eCan Community mask can post anything they like to the eCan Community board. Anyone can be masked for mock congress by following the instructions in the article linked above.
You want to misguide people into believing that people pretending they are in congress to post in the legislative section? You are ate up aren't you?
No, it's not your differing opinion. I request that my MU mates give me their opinions all the time. Assessing various opinions with an open mind give a broader view of what is going on and allows for better decisions on my part. What makes you sound like a whiner and bitcher is your whining and bitching. When you make a complaint follow up with your suggestion to correct the problem. Better yet, when you don't understand something please ask for an explanation before you start slamming other people.
Might as well give people something to do for the next 8-9 months that seems worthwhile.
Sorry, bud, but thinking that a mock Congress serves no purpose (and is perhaps even detrimental) is a valid opinion, not bitching. Bitching that it's bitching doesn't actually make it bitching.
In fact, the most bitching and whining I've seen lately is coming from people who are complaining that people offering a different point of view are bitching and whining.
Attempting to deligitimize rival viewpoints by portraying others as whiners or worse serves no purpose but to stifle debate, limit dissension and win debates by drowning the other side out with ad hominems rather than discussing the merits or any given idea. Worst of all it's insulting and frankly borderline bullying.
Whatever happened to simply saying, "well that's one opinion, one I disagree with" and moving on? Why the need to attack the message and the messenger as illegitimate?
(It's also somewhat ironic considering that you're a major proponent of the mock Congress designed as an exchange of ideas.)

Beyond that you've yet to show anything detrimental caused by this mock congress other than it might confuse someone. (If they are that easily confused maybe they shouldn't be on the internet. 😃 ) I have never been a proponent, organizer, helper or creator of the mock congress. I am at best a supporter of it assuming it had caught on and would have put forth an effort to help any that attended.
When you state an actual viewpoint I will consider the rest of your argument. All I hear is bitching, no point of view other than "I don't like this", "What gives you the right to do something I don't like", "I don't like what you say". Grow up and move on for petes sake.
There you go again! I've put forward legitimate concerns, alternatives and suggestions for improvements. What have you done? Attacked while doing nothing positive on your own.
I'm waiting for you to suggest an actual benefit from a mock Congress that can't be better served by including everyone by having discussions in the existing public section. I'm waiting to see any other suggestion that you've come forward with this month.
"You people" are asking for ideas as a justification for writing our thoughts yet I've seen absolutely nothing from you to justify why you should still be writing, not like there's anything of substance in what you've written either. At least I don't begrudge you your opinion on your right to speak your mind.

Now that I'm done mocking you (and I genuinely meant that in a lighthearted sense, despite my slightly aggressive previous comments in other articles), I'd like to say that I think it's you who fails to understand. People aren't looking for miracles or even something to happen today (on the war front). Most players know the situation and that nothing's going to be happening for a while.
I don't think that you understand that a complete media blackout - even with that understanding - isn't enough from the administration. We're not going to be making a serious push for weeks yet but the government still needs to keep the drive alive in people's hearts. Even if the message is the same but packaged in a different article, many players need reminders that there is indeed a plan and that doing nothing is part of it.
This is a similar argument to the one you're making for having a mock Congress - some players need something to do, something to occupy themselves in game while we wait. Without that, we will begin to see players leave us out of sheer boredom.
Now I don't begrudge Rylde a weekend off with his kid. Even if we're not doing anything, it's good to have him with fully charged batteries. But he's not the only member of the administration. There should at least be articles directing us to the battles our allies need help in or perhaps instructions as to what the best use of our food fights (if our allies are fighting lopsided battles, I suggest going for Freedom Fighter medals and collecting much needed gold ahead of our battles to come). More can and should be done otherwise there's as much point in having an Executive government now as a Congress.

That is the closest you people have come to actually suggesting something. Now what is this that the government should do? Don't pussy foot about, spit out something or hush.
I also think you need to be media director next month. Then you will be able to write articles to amuse us.
I would suggest that the parties are better equipped (without excluding MUs) for keeping "the drive alive", but of course, Chochi is an independent.
Funky, I don't disagree that parties and MU's are key to keeping activity/community interest up but that is true during a wipe, peace or in the case of war at least keeping the party/MU focused on their objective.
We still come back to the statement "...the government still needs to keep the drive alive in people's hearts.". What is it exactly that the CP's administration can do besides write a few articles telling people (and the US) what our plans are and asking for patience?
This is my big complaint about all the whining, no one is proposing anything but yet they insist SOMETHING must be done. 😃
Just because you say something, doesn't make it so. People have been making legitimate complaints and offering concrete solutions to them.
Nobody wants the administration to do more than write articles! The problem is they hadn't in a while when that first article was written. We went a week between CP articles and didn't see anything from the MoE or the MoD - and we still haven't.
The lack of government news was noticeable so someone did point it out and others have said how they think the government could improve - write more (ideally specific) articles! We'll see if the government actually takes this to heart or whether we'll only continue to see a weekly CP address.

You're complaining that people are complaining and you're bashing them because they're supposedly not offering ideas and telling them to shut up because they don't (except they do have ideas and they are sharing them) and you don't have any ideas yourself!
I'm not part of the government. The administration has a job to do besides pushing for Congress at the end of the month and yes, that includes writing articles.
I'm not going to let you put this on me. Keeping the populace informed and entertained is not my job. If the government is abdicating it's responsibility and saying that civilians should do its job for it then what's the point of even having one?
