Unfounded Sex Scandal

Day 736, 18:04 Published in Ireland Ireland by Sean Power

Sophisticated eIrish citizen Bradums is running as an Independent Voice for Congress/ Dáil election to represent the citizens of Dublin

If you have not yet voted, please consider this gentlemen to represent you

So by now I'm sure you've read Bradums manifesto....
If that didn't satisfy your desire then read this phonecall transcript, brought to you thanks to a ninja bugging his phone when he was at work in the Dáíl....

Personal
What's the meaning behind your erepublik name?
Well, my name is Brad, so it stems from that. Way back when, I was randomly given the joke nickname Bradums. It sort of stuck, and became a commonly used name, so...Bradums, it is. I'm not nervous about my real name being known, so it's easy to respond to people when they address me by "Brad" or "Bradums" in-game, so...it's convenient 😉

What aspect of the game first kept you logging in day after day?
Honestly? I'm a bit of a stat/growth junkie. I love RPGs and whatnot that allow for the ability to grow and better your character/account. So, that said, the work and battles kept me hooked at first until the politics, worldwide conflicts, and desire to work for eIreland furthered that dedication with a greater purpose.

Am I right in thinking you joined before the mentoring program.... which friends given you a helpful shove in the right direction when it was required?
As far as I know, yeah. Back when I joined, I don't recall being informed of a mentoring program. I basically took a look around myself and learned as much as I could about what did what, and where I needed to be for different aspects. The mentoring program is a great thing, though. I just didn't get the chance to participate when I joined, heh.

Have you been on any trips around the eWorld?
Not really. I've been around the eUS and eIreland. That's it. I've thought of taking some time off in the future in order to travel and learn about other nations and their methods of government. Maybe meet up with my friends Donovan Thomas and Grainne, but for the moment, I'm dedicated to serving as a member of Congress.

Independent Voices
You're currently a member of IV.... what attracted you to the grouping and have your expectations of the organisation been fulfilled?
To be honest, I dislike the notion of party politics and IV is the least agenda/position-oriented party. As George Washington preached, party politics give rise to agendas that undermine the goal of a democratic process. Although, I can say that it's not really a problem in eIrish politics, since we're all supportive of one another. Still, Independent Voices gives people the ability to act according to their own beliefs and allows a home for free-thought. I love it. Plus, Digits is a damn genius, so...good to be on his team.

Could you see yourself as party president in the future?
Honestly, no. I'd prefer to stay out of upper-management, as far as politics goes. There are better candidates for PP in IV, and I prefer them over myself. I'm not a power-hungry man, in any sense. Congress is far enough for me. You would REALLY have to twist my arm for anything more.

Politics
What prompted you to get involved in politics?
Heh...well, I've got to admit that - ironically - I swore to myself that I wouldn't get involved. I figured there were better candidates out there, and I had no business in eIrish politics. However, with the encouragement of great men and women like former MoD Donovan Thomas and eIrish battle-goddess Grainne Ni Mhaille, I decided to put my modesty aside and throw my name in the hat for Congress. I feel I have an unbiased and intelligent mind to put forth, so...why not?

In your opinion, what is the single most important issue in eIrish politics?
Ouch. Heavy question, Sean. I would say that our nation's "neutral" position and our position on alliance relations is the biggest issue. I have to lump those together, since they're really the same issue. Look around and you'll see that it's the number one issue that gets people riled up - one way or another.

How did your first Dáil term match up to your impression of what it would be like as a TD?
Well, it wasn't as eventful as I'd expect. Then again, it was a quiet month. There were a lot of candidates who sort of...slipped into their positions. They put forth pointless proposals, tried to funnel funds, and other such nonsense. I did my part in shooting those proposals down. As well, I was active in the forums, putting my voice in with the rest of them on important issues like wargames and our neutrality. Aside from that...quiet month, I think.

Would you agree the strong tendancy towards inter-party co-operation has led to irish politics becoming dull?
Well...yeah, I suppose. I guess that parties fighting with one another would add some intrigue and excitement. It's hard to see that happening, though. For my part, I like the other parties and their members, and it seems to go both ways. Respect goes a long way when earned, and there are only a select few eIrish citizens I completely discredit. Then again, I guess we could throw an unfounded "sex scandal" accusation out there and see what happens. It livens up real-life politics so it might work here, right? 😉

Who would be your dream President?
Dream President? Hm. I think Patton's done a great job, so I'd like him to stick around until he gets bored or another candidate seduces me to their side.
.
I'd like to thank Bradums for his time and beautifully expressed responses.
