Well the time has come and I plan to make a run for the big chair this month. Things should hopefully work out with my job and allow me to be fairly active. Supposed to be sent down to Chile at the end of February, but as things go that will most likely be delayed a bit. So Imma give this a run.
I have been a pretty active Canadian for almost two years, so I have a good understanding of our country and community. Do I know whats right for us? No, but how do you even define right in a game with so many different characters and personalities? That’s why I don’t promise goals or objectives to complete, because at the end of the month, someone else can come in and NE Uruguay, no not you UK…
This is just a foot in the door for my campaign, later I will cover in more detail the directions I wish to go while CP of Canada.
1) First and foremost will be regaining our regions. This in my mind, is the number one issue for most Canadians. If we are wiped, we will be short a Congress, unable to pass certain laws, our production bonuses will be gone, market prices may rise, tax dollars will be lost, and a general punch in the gut to our community.
2) Foreign Affairs, the dreaded words in Canada perhaps? I by no means want to pass blame off on others, but simply put, Canada does not have the best track record on the international stage. This is one of, if not my most concerning issues for Canada, so if I can at least build solid foundations with other countries in this month, I will be quite happy. Egos at the door.
3) Contests, draws and I am just BSing you. I know other CPs have offered those things, but to be honest, the strength of the Canadian Community falls mainly on the parties, makes sense right? I would encourage all parties to push for activity, involvement and community building. If I can get several party members working efficiently in a cabinet, I can’t see why those same parties can’t do the same in public. Community kept me here for the 8 month wipe
4) I would like to begin some discussions in regards to a national MU. We have seen recent additions to MU’s such as CO’s and now just the other day are the Booster Packs available to your MU only. There has also been suggestions from the Admins about an added in-game IRC chat like feature for MU’s. Lastly are the MU tournaments, one set to begin tomorrow, another chance for Canadians to benefit from. So let’s be Progressive here and see what we can do.
It is my hope that many of you can see me as a strong and viable candidate for CP. My commitment to our country and community has always been a focus point in this game for me. I ask that you considering voting #TheSmoke4CP, #YODO and #hashtag on February 5th.

How are you going to regain regions? Diplomacy? War?
Those are big issues right now and as I see it, we only have one option.
To give a cheesy response, both. You can be very diplomatic, but without a strong military presence, you will be walked over. Flip side is, you can be very militaristic, but without a diplomatic team, you can't garner allied support nor earn the respect of others. Canada is strong for its size, but we are no superpower. We need to utilize all the tools we can to be efficient and progressive, and I hope to do just that.

Good luck on the national MU thing, getting eCanada together has always been a tough sell.
Thanks, I know it will be quite hard, but many new factors keep popping up that would make a national MU all that more effective. Worth a shot at least 🙂

I get the technical aspect of a national MU but I fail to see the fun part of it. Maybe Plato will be happy with one MU per country, then one political party per country... Oh heck, why stop there, one newspaper per country, one work button (do away with companies/factories), one fight button (do away with battles between countries, just fight between alliances) and that leads to predefined alliances (that way Plato can keep them balanced). For that matter we can do away with counties altogether and just have a couple of alliances. This truly would be 2-clicks. Login, click "work", click "fight", logout. If you want to make more stuff or do more damage you simply buy some gold!
Sorry, I just get bummed when the last little bits of strategy or fun are stripped away. I know the group MU is using game mechanics to effect a strategy but my MU is about the only fun thing left. Take that away and there's not much left.

I understand your concerns Dill, and I know that the idea of a National MU raises concerns about community, history, fun, identification etc. I hope to put an article out soon with more details though!
