As long as I have been playing there have been some epic moments that no-one can truly understand unless they were there behind the scenes; coordinating, arguing and panicking.
Have you ever wondered what goes down in government. Have you ever wondered why that one person was fired from Cabinet, why we went to war against Brazil or why Indonesia keeps being a pain in the Arse. Have you ever wondered the real reasons why we are in a Treaty/Contract with Brazil thats has them occupying our land?
I could tell you, but then they will have to shoot me. Why? Well because all of that is classified.
Imagine a eSouth Africa where that Information could be made available. It would help you better understand who to vote for. It would stop tyrants hiding their maladministration behind Top Secret Stamps
I have put forward to my Party, The Independent Alternative a proposal for a new Act. One that would allow you, the public to get access to all that juicy Information (older than 90 days) that is sitting in archive gathering dust. The draft Act is titled “The Access to Information Act”.
I must admit, The A.I.A is somewhat threatening to me as an ex-CP. It makes me wonder if I did anything stupid. Did I let down my voters. Did I let dis-unity ultimately destroy us? Will be interesting to see what others think (and Scary)
The Goal of this act is simple. It will help to promote an Open and Transparent Government (Bathu Pele). I think that is what we need, and that is what eSA needs.

the eUSA has a President's Daily Briefing forum thread.. these get de-classified after six months. very revealing, very informative. most players don't read 'em but they should.
decent idea, the big problem is. Most serious and critical things all took place on IRC.

The first step to preventing certain things from being known by only a handful of people would be to ensure that all government discussions and decisions take place on the forums and that such discussions and decisions should be restricted from taking place exclusively on IRC. It is fine for IRC to be used as an additional tool and for casual discussion, but important discussions should take place where everyone involved can participate and catch up at any time.

@Al: You're 100% wrong. IRC logs should maybe be posted on the forums, but discussions are far more fruitful and productive in IRC than on the forums. I would go into detail on this, but I don't care enough.

Al, sorry to say but I do agree with Ten here, my time as President showed me beyond a doubt how important irc is. I think it will carry.
IRC becomes important because certain people make it important, but the problem with using IRC to the exclusion of the forums for important government discussions is that it leaves other people that cannot participate for whatever reason out of the loop and without a say in the discussion.
