The first term of "Aotearoa" Rule
Oboacer
With the Presidential election only hours away, I thought it best to reflect upon the first term of single-party rule in NZ under the "Aotearoa Party". It is something I feel all citizens should think about as they prepare to cast their ballot.
On December 5, 2010, Don KronoX was elected President of eNZ with over 60% as a candidate of the Aotearoa Party. His victory, taking place a mere ten days after Aotearoa won a majority in Congress, inaugurated the first single-party rule in eNZ history.
The beginning of his term started well. He established a multi-party cabinet with "Aotearoa", Peace "n" Prosperity Party (PnPP) and the Kiwi Social Democrats (KSD). At the same time he committed eNZ to capturing 9 regions, retaining its own and raising the GDP by 5%. He also ran on keeping eNZ's neutral foreign policy.
However, things started to change quickly when taxes were raised (at the behest of the Aotearoa Congressional majority), prices skyrocketed and citizens began to emigrate. This helped to exasperate the already tense relationship between the Serbian/Slovenian community and the English-speaking community.
The nation was rocked further by the "Darkmantle scandal" and the creation of a completely separate treasury (under Aotearoa complete control). Division has remained also in the army, which during this time witnessed the NZDF completely disintegrate. It soon became clear that under Aotearoa, eNZ would remain a country divided.
Therefore, the question that needs to be raised is, has eNZ been better off under the single-party rule of Aotearoa? Its supporters will argue yes and its critics will argue no but on January 5, voters will need to pass judgment on this (The sad reality is because of the numbers, the majority community will gets its way).
We also witnessed the sharp debate over eNZ joining Phoenix (before its collapse) and saw the true colours of Aotearoa (and some in the other parties). The push for join PHX was clearly against what Don had campaigned under and no major "Aotearoa" candidate in the November 25, Congressional meeting called for this. I hope Aotearoa will learn from this and publish their stance on these issues.
In defense of President Don, it must be noted he inherited a divided nation and did accomplish two of his national goals, not bad for a President. Still, his term has been marked by splits, division and continued distrust. However, economic growth has taken place and eNZ has benefited from a wide assortment of MPP's, thereby enabling our citizens to fight.
Whatever, the outcome, the first term of single-party "Aotearo" rule has been mixed for eNZ. There have been good results (goals met) and bad results (high taxes and prices rising).
It will be interesting to see what transpires on January 5th and how the next government (whether Aotearo, PnPP or KSD) handles the issues coming forward.
I wish all the candidates best of luck and god bless New Zealand.
Sincerely,
Oboacer

Sorry for the weak translation, I used google translator. If someone knows a better one, please tell me.
Enjoy!
Good analysis of the situation, Oboacer.
Vote.
"accomplish two of his national goals, not bad for a President"
>implying that having the GDP grow 5% of 0 is a great feat
Jacobo, the fact that you're using an >imply tells me plenty about your level of intelligence.
You mean Aotearoa or KSD or NZSU/PnPP/KIP, Oboacer. Also, Bass running for CP was a mistake. KSD PP said he would change endorsement to Bedi but it was too late by then.
Reese, your lack of understanding of his point shows plenty to everyone about your level of intelligence, if it can be called that at all...
No, I understood his point. The way he said, however, was unintelligent.
Nice try, though. Maybe you'll "get me" next time.
so again we have to conform to your idea of intelligence? and where am i trying to "get you" it isnt like you "get anyone" ever...
this is a propaganda
even me, a non kiwi, knew this is a misleading article
@Jacobo
>implying that GDP means anything on this game
New Zealand's GDP is 3325.72 whereas Romania's GDP is 2356.19. You saying we're richer than Romania?
think about inflation welshlad, and about the value of the our money...
@Gaius, my appologizes for not incluidng NZSU/KIP together PnPP and I didn't realize that the KSD PP tried to prevent Bass from running.
That makes it abit tougher for our parties.
Chetan, there's no conforming involved. Don't get coy with me just because you misunderstood me.
Also, I'm apparently "getting" you since you went to every current article I've commented in and responded by insulting me and telling me to leave eNZ. It's apparent that I'm "getting" you quite a bit.
@Welshlad
Did I say GDP was worth anything?
It is a know fact the erepublik GDP rarely works, and due to this there is no link through the ranking page.
If anything my post implied that GDP does not work in this game, because I said 0 GDP.
Jacobo, that's not what you said. You said he made it grow out of 0. That's not the same thing as saying that he made an enigmatic stat grow, but more like saying he barely did anything, when he actually did.
That is simply one great article.
Vote+sub+shout!
Keep up good work!
"taxes were raised (at the behest of the Aotearoa Congressional majority), prices skyrocketed..."
Skyrocketing of prices last month was a worldwide phenomenon that was caused by changes in economy module (halved production of raw materials). Taxes had very little, if anything, to do with it.
Corsantin, thank you for that input. I will admit I didn't follow the international trend.
