The Economist ~ a United Kingdom

Day 867, 13:54 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Spite313

Dear Friends,

In the fading hours of the election, many on the JB and Pensive team will be saddened and disappointed that GLaDOS has won. However we cannot deny that this has been an emphatic victory for the man. Personally I put it down to a well organised campaign and the personal reputation of one of eRepublik’s greatest characters.

In the coming month it will be tempting to stand apart from his administration for many of you. But we must accept the democratic mandate of the people, and the oldest truth in politics: it is better to be inside, making a difference, than outside, moaning about the result. All of you are talented people, from both the Pensive and JB camps. I know I woke this morning hoping to see Pensive with a clear lead, and many of you are probably in a blue funk about the results- especially the two other candidates themselves.

Remember however, that although the President is the leader, it is his team which provide the powerhouse of ideas, motivation and drive which make a term a great success, or a great failure. Let’s build on the back of previous governments- both left and right wing- to provide a future where we can have free election, in a secure nation with a strong economy. It is our duty to both ourselves and our members that we give it our all, that we make GLaDOS' term a good one. Because antagonism during elections is healthy (and I will fight for a left candidate next election) but fighting a President purely because of his political affiliation should be something, I hope, of the past.

So here is to the United Kingdom.
