Leaders ~ Editorial

Well readers, UK has left PEACE. Not entirely a surprise to me- ever since the big 4 started to leave it was inevitable. Our closest friends in Europe have left the alliance, and so we have decided to follow them into the brave new world. Yet Germany, the UNL, Hungary, Serbia and so on remain friends, remain in constant communication and stand ready to assist each other at every opportunity. So what’s changed?

Well for one thing the charters (both the old PEACE GC one and the one proposed by Lyne Faynel of France) are in the bin now. France are claiming that PEACE GC lives on in its remaining members, but save for France the remaining countries are medium powers and PEACE is now the smallest and weakest alliance on Earth. Freed from the charter and all its inconsistencies, the big 4 and their allies are free to pursue aggressive foreign policy to countermand EDEN and US attacks on their empires.

In addition we’ve seen the Swedes attack our glorious colony of North Jelly Land. Obviously we don’t care about the worthless region, but it’s a free training war. Once the Swedes conquer it we can have another fight to get it back again. All will be back to square one! Unless of course they invade, which is pretty unlikely with the MPPs which would then be stacked against them.

Russia also attacked and conquered a Chinese province today. Troops flooded in from all across the PEACE bloc in a show of solidarity with Russia and Iran. Despite stiff resistance from some EDEN and SOL troops Russia overcame China and secured the region.

Europe ~ Friends apart

The United Kingdom and Serbia have many stumbling blocks when it comes to friendship. Few Brits can speak Serbian and our countries are a long way apart. However those of us who do get a chance to speak to Serbians online find them to be some of the closest to us in temperament of all the peoples who play this game. Perhaps it is the happy and slightly crazy attitude the Serbians have towards the world (echoed in the real UK) or perhaps it is your love of Rakija (which probably isn’t as good as Scotch but a good second best 😉 ). Somehow we have ended up as best friends, and this is something the UK wants to continue until the end of the game!

When we first started playing eRepublik our country made several mistakes. We tried to be allies with countries based on Real Life first of all- countries that were close to us geographically or who shared the same language. Then we ended up tied up in ATLANTIS, which was a pretty rubbish alliance where we were basically treat as an observer nation just watching other countries having fun. This ended with us deciding to fight to protect our friends Germany from Sweden (something I strongly supported) and since then we have never looked back.

"Serbia - The basilisk of war that has drawn our breaths on every battlefield, of which we have witnessed its monolithic power. Serbia has not only amazed me on the battlefield, but at the social aspect of the game. Every Serbian to date that I have come across has been a good guy, and I've always gotten on with them well. I await the next time I can fight side by side with Serbia on the battlefield!- Mr Woldy, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

When we first entered PEACE we got on well with our allies, but it is in this time of adversity when we are all struggling to find a new path forward where our friends truly show. Serbia, Hungary, Russia, UNL, Slovenia, Indonesia, Portugal...the list goes on. Our friends looked out for us, and when we were asked we gave all our troops and gold. We’ve never been a rich country but we have given all we can for our allies. We know that Britain cannot stand alone, and that Serbia is the same. By working together with our friends we can build a new brotherhood built on respect and communication and fun.

Long live Serbia, Long live the UK 🙂

Business News ~ Greece fights in South America?

The current war between Argentina and Peru is a funny one. Peru has been taken over by Poles and as we know Peru has one of the few high iron regions in the world. So the country is both politically and economically charged at the moment. Argentina have invaded to get rid of the pesky Poles. Poland and Croatia are defending the country. But who is helping Argentina...Spain and Greece!

EDEN is fighting EDEN! But why would Spain and Greece help Argentina get rid of their allies? Well let’s think about what Spain and Greece have in common? High Iron of course!

Could it be that Spain and Greece are worried that if Peru becomes a safe (nestled in peaceful South America) high iron region people will start companies there instead of in Asturias or Central Greece? It is well known that taxes from RM are what drive great super-powers like Hungary, Russia and the USA. If Spain and Greece lose their monopoly on precious high iron in EDEN they will lose a lot of tax. So is this a ploy to destroy their allies chances of having an Iron region of their own? It could be so.
