Four Swiss presidential candidates: Monseiur Guillontine, Julian Anderson, Hot Fever, and Dan Wilshire (EcoFreak) gathered in round-table debates to discuss their plans for the future of Switzerland. The logs of their discussion, watched by many throughout the day, is recorded below.

Personal Comments: Dear readers, these logs are quite long since they contain almost an hours worth of information. With that in mind, their are some things you need to know. Firstly, EcoFreak is actually Dan Wilshire, and is currently running in the AIM primary. Secondly, a lot of the text that was said here has been deleted. Well, if I am honored with being re-elected this month, I would like to achieve one main goal first, which would be Swiss independence. For too long, I have seen the ways the Slovenian people have been behaving, not juts with us, but other countries as well such as Italy. They cannot be trusted. Even when we draw up agreements, we always receive a crappy deal which honestly does not guarantee us any safety nor the ability to do as we please.
For example, in the last agreement, we were given only Romandie, and not even the ability to sign MPPs with any countries without Slovenia. Is that not giving away our simple freedoms? That is why I think fighting back is the only option, especially now that Slovenia's government is unwilling to compromise.
In addition, setting up a sort of 'time-table' for our financial needs, I think, is something I would like to work on with my Minister of Finance, Patar333, and my Chairman of the Bank, F4uc0n. That way, we make sure we do not spend too much money at once, but use it in moderation, instead of just keeping it in the bank forever.
Lastly, cooperating with our allies Italy, and continuing friendly relations with EDEN and TERRA are a must, seeing that we no longer can just be subjugated by Slovenia. Therefore, I believe that these 3 goals are the most important things we need to achieve as a nation.

[11:07] What would I do if I became president? Well where do I begin.
[11:07] One of my first aims would be to work closer with our Allies in Eden and Terra and work with them on formulating a plan to help get us our regions back. To do this we will have to do a few things.
[11:08] We will have to show our allies that we are committed to them, which will give them more of an incentive to support us. We need to post daily articles telling our people where to fight to show support to our allies.
[11:08] We also need to reform our Government financing, so we can optimise income and make sure that we are spending the money on things that will benefit the country as a hole. We need to invest more into our citizens if we are going to succeed at this game.

I would like to clarify something: our communication and military strategy has not been disastrous. If you look at the work which has been made in preparation for all resistance wars, you will see that dozens of messages were sent to leaders of the world as well as military unit leaders.
We have also been sending supplies to mercenaries to fight for our side, and in fact we lasted for a week without Slovenian occupation, which is definitely a real success. As we drained Slovenian forces, our good ally, Italy, was able to recapture her regions and thus be able to threaten Slovenia. Now, something I would like to change is gaining better support from our allies.
For example, our neighbor France currently is available to help us, and yet, the government is unable to due to less activity, and this is something which I am unable to control. However, something we can improve is the amount of Swiss players who will help with distributing with tanks, as this has been a problem. Many nights, I have stayed up late giving tanks to mercenaries to fight in our battles, and this is quite exhausting, actually.
Therefore, I believe that if more Swiss citizens were more motivated and willing to help out, Switzerland would definitely be able to regain independence, especially with more foreign aid.

Well currently I do not think that it is possible for us to talk to Slovenia as we/them/someone “broke” the treaty between us and them, so with the current government I do not think we have a chance.

However talks could be possible if we got a sympathetic CP and congress, along with some help of other powerful ONE leaders who we have connections to. But that is a slim chance. The only way we could get Slovenia to listen is we get them on the back foot, and if we keep true to our allies in EDEN and TERRA that could be possible in the near future.

[11:20] I think, negotiations with Slovenia are the only way to get on map and stay for a longer time than a few days. Negotiations are the only way for save congress elections. We need to become friends, we should not stay enemies.

Well, let me explain the situation as the way I see it. After being Minister of Foreign Affairs for 3 consecutive terms, I know how the Slovenians deal with agreements. I know what they want, and I know what we want.
However, right now we have no leverage to even ask for an agreement. That is why I have been pushing throughout this terms ways for us to show that we are not just a weak nation. Why do you think Slovenia doesn't want us to sign MPPs with EDEN or TERRA countries anymore? It shows that they fear our abilities which were definitely showcased when we were fighting for our freedom.
I believe that we will need to be patient and wait for the right moment to strike. As of now, I already know that EDEN and TERRA members are planning a strike on Slovenia to completely wipe them. At this moment, we will take advantage of Slovenia's weakness and successfully liberate our regions. That is when negotiations will be plausible.
We will ask for a fair deal, which I think should be something where Switzerland will receive 2 regions, and Slovenia will pay rent for the other two. That way, we are not getting a crappy deal, and this way we will show mutual respect.

Uros, you know that I support joining EDEN, however the referendum on the forum show that 50% want to remain neutral. I cannot argue with the Swiss people, and therefore it is not possible to join EDEN as of now. However, I do believe that Switzerland has been, ever since leaving EDEN 1 year ago due to the Swiss government's inactivity, we have remained closely aligned with EDEN and TERRA forces.
Why? Well, Slovenia is ONE, and they have definitely shown hostility towards us, as well as Macedonia, when they occupied us for a couple of months. These factors push Switzerland away from ONE, and into the hands of EDEN and TERRA. Already, when we were fighting against the Slovenias a little more than a week ago, we were able to see massive amounts of help from these nations, even setting us as the Campaign of the Day, such as the USA or Bulgaria.
These are not small nations, and the fact that we are set as their priority symbolizes their sympathy toward our small nation, and the fact that they consider us a nation who deserves freedom, a brother in a struggle against ONE.

[11:39] And yet, the thing is that Slovenia aggressively attacked us FIRST. In an act of self-defense, we were forced to sign MPPs.

[11:40] Our allies have helped a lot already, and it shows that Slovenia cannot last forever, especially under ONE's crippling organization.

[11:42] We need to wait and watch the events as they unfold. I believe that we should be Pro Eden and Pro Terra due to the fact the Slovenia (ONE) attacked us in an aggressive fashion. The people of eSwiss don’t want us to join an alliance, however that does not mean that they are not grateful and in support of what Terra and Eden are doing for us.

Julian_Anderson, perhaps I need to show you something. During my time as Minister of Foreign Affairs, I was able to solidify a deal with Slovenia which got Switzerland Congress. How did this happen? The Slovenian government at this time was very compromising and unlike the government now. This shows that I am able to diplomatically find solutions when possible. However, when I took up my CP term, Slovenia had already began invading near the end of Rican's term because they wanted more of our bonuses, and basically broke the deal.
I am unable to control this, and so I acted quickly by forming alliances with EDEN and TERRA countries. I do not believe it is correct for you to blame me for the failure of our resistance, as I am sure that no other President would be able to do the same. I stayed up day and night, working hard by sending supplies to mercenaries, getting foreign aid from countries and military units, and this is something that I know other Presidents are unable to do due to their lack of contacts.
As a result, I am not Jesus, I cannot make miracles happen. If it was easy enough to get regions, we would have them by now. Unfortunately, sometimes patience is the best solution, waiting for the perfect time to strike.

Well, although Switzerland is a small and weak country, we are a very important nation which acts as a buffer against Slovenia. It is true, that we are not able to return as much damage as nations such as the USA are able to, but it is definitely of importance to them to keep as many friends as possible.
If we were to shy toward ONE (which is kind of unlikely) EDEN and TERRA would have to have another enemy to look after. As President, I have made many contacts with other great leaders of EDEN and TERRA, and that is how we were able to receive so much help when fighting for our freedom. In the end, it does not matter how small you are, but how smart you play your cards, and that is how you succeed as a nation.

Well, first I think that it is important for a President to be active. This is something which I believe I have. I am constantly on the forums and IRC, and I think this is vital for a Country President to possess. For example, two of the candidates here, Julian_Anderson and HotFever, showed up half an hour late to the debate. Do not think of this as a debate, but pretend this was a meeting with Slovenia... do you think a President could be late?
In addition, staying active on IRC is how communication with other world leaders is accomplished, and if this is not met, how can Switzerland expect to receive help.

I would also like to point out my experience in the Foreign Affairs area, which I think is crucial to a successful President. The experience ensures for well-planned negotiations which will benefit Switzerland

Lastly, the ability to survey a situation and say whether fighting back or not is important. In many battles recently, I have supplied soldiers with tanks, and it is important to be observant and know whether it is possible to win. Contacts serve this purpose as well, with military units who send over help.

If a President is unable to have these qualities, I think it is impossible to run a country when activity and experience are so low.

[12:27] The first part of the plan would be to raise the minimum wage, so that we have a place to start at. The I cannot give an exact number but somewhere around 70-80 CHF.

[12:30] Increasing VAT of Weapons up to 25%, makes around 7.5% more income of the state. people won't get less, I'm planing an information campaign about the buybot. And I like to invest this higher income on individual projects for the induvidual so that there's more income. If the people knows the buybot better, they we would get more money as a nation. raising minimum wage isn't a good idea, cause it would damage our militias, using selfsupplying systems.

First of all, we need to gain a region. That is exactly why I have been pushing for our freedom. Once we have a region, taxes will be modified to further increase our funds. I also have plans to start a time-table with F4uc0n to make sure that we spend our money from the bank in moderation, and not burn it up too quickly.
By spending in moderation, we are in fact stimulating the economy which is at a low point as of now. My future Minister of Finance, Patar333, is already currently buying and selling currencies, and he makes an average of 2 - 3 gold per day from that, which means that in a month, we could roughly make about 50 gold. For a small nation such as Switzerland, this definitely helps out.
In contrast to what Julian_Anderson said, however, I do not think it is possible to just "raise wages." Switzerland is a small country, and this is not a practical idea because we cannot implement it against employers since it will restrict the economy from growing naturally. If we implement such changes, inflation will devastate our economy.

I would like to conclude why I would like to be re-elected for several reasons: Switzerland needs an active, experienced leader who is able to contact the rest of the world, seeing as we are currently in a difficult situation, fighting against Switzerland. In addition, it is important to have a good team who is active as well. My plans are simple, but are well planne😛
First, to regain independence; second, to reform the financial situation; and third, to continue good foreign relations with EDEN and TERRA nations. By doing so, we will strengthen our nation internally as well as externally, able to withstand any opposing threat.
Although I have been blamed for many hardships we have faced this month, I know that I have worked hard and been able to work to the best of my abilities, despite the constant slander which my opponents throw at me.
