Onto Fix #4 and oooh is the public gonna hate me for this fix.
People will call me a shill for this one, but of all the erep patches I'll be putting in this little series, I think this is the one that E-Labs is most likely to take notice of.
Infact, I'm astonished it hasn't already happened tbh.
This one is for you Plato
It all starts here with Erepublik's real God of War:
What used to be a highly organized, carefully managed, well planned operation, has been reduced to a slot machine (cheers for that btw Plato) anyone can walk up to at the drop of 10k.
And boy don't we feed it? Before CO's it literally wasn't possible to spend money this fast, I damn well tried. You need to be careful now or you can really hurt your account. People get emotional, emotional responses are spontaneous. You do things you'll regret in the morning. Hand up here, I'll be limping off Ireland's Dublin battle vs China for 1/2 a year. Shit gets real!
So 1st of all:
Considering the CO page catches us at our most impulsive and vulnerable
Is way too clunky Plato. When a player is in a spending frenzy, you don't want complications slowing down the process. It could for instance:
*Display CO's for all divisions so I can easily re-raise an opponent's CO (causing more spending)
*Allow me to easily topUp+incentivize my offer (Why in Cicero's name would you delay us spending more money Plato?)
*Clearly display which side your CO is on. I often freak out I may have set it to the wrong side, that = downtime
*Allow me to spend directly from my account (Don't let me measure-out my spending)
Basically, this whole thing should be made user-friendly. Think like a casino. You can stick your Bank-card right into a slot machine these days. I've seen people feed houses into a slot machine. Don't let those cherries stop spinning E-Labs!
2nd, I need to draw your attention to this Plato
I'm not the sort of guy who wants to run an MU, it would tie up too much of my time. But I am a guy who likes to spend. So the world of CO's is divided up between MU leadership and lonely-lenny's like myself. It's funny how many times I've logged on in the morning to "Sweeeet, r u online? we need MU for CO's on the battle!!!" panic-PM's from the night before. That was a guy desperate to spend, who doesn't have access to the buttons to do so.
Why would you deny all the rest of the players this opportunity to spend impulsively?!
Now everybody has the chance to get foolish! People can enjoy low-level membership in military units and still spend. Imagine how many more Bank-Card Moments are just waiting to happen.
While I'm sure loads of players who hate CO's are appalled right now. But hey, I hate CO's too. Feel they really robbed something from the game.
But at the same time, I like it here. I'd like to see the game do well. If we must suffer CO's, they might as well be available to all. Improvements and advertising come from revenue (so I expect some results for this monstrosity, Plato! 😛

Lies.
We need COs in elections... Much easier then to bribe each individual.

A battle filled with a hundred plus COs from each player would probably break this game in a new and spectacular way.

Do it.
Put the private CO in a generic pool, average the amount per million damage.
Would like to see article CO's. They have it backwards, don't pay the guy to write an article, have the guy who wrote the article put up a VO, Vote Order. Pay so much per vote to encourage votes, budget so much to pay for so many. i.e. 20cc per vote with 10k budget would yield 500 votes. Think Plato's voters club.
Or just attach a charge to reading. Like paying for your newspaper
Still backward. I'm suggesting the writer pay for votes similar to voters club except a game mechanic where the newspaper has a budget similar to a CO. Instead of paying so much for damage the paper pays so much per vote until the budget is exhausted.
If you charged 'per read' that would be the end of newspapers in eRep media.
perhaps not though. It be optionally applied.
Many newsletters irl are private membership.
People used to pay 40k for a single share of berkshire just to receive buffets annual. Exclusive media subscriptions would have superior potentials to add alongside the 'group pm' model.
