Sw33t's Easy Fixe$ #3

#3 is a straight-forward media steroid

I don't have one of these. Don't deserve one. I don't contribute much to the media.

But there are a lot of people out there who do deserve one of them. More than one of them even.
The media is a massive part of this game.
Campaigns are won on the battlefield, but they are celebrated in the media. Erepublik's flavour is its player generated news/tabloid.
1,000 subscribers is an antiquated standard and it was even too much when it applied.

There are a few ancients in major nations that have a handful, Gnilraps is nearing his 3rd after 5 years of playing. He is constantly in eUSA's top 5. But keep in mind that is 2 out of his nearly 2,000 medals o.0

While the God-like dsokre sets the bar at a fantastic 21 Moguls, it's surprizing to see how scarce these things really are.
Emerik collected 5 in his lifetime. And tbf, his 'All Out Attack' rests at 1900 subs.
Regardless how you feel about Emerick, the guy's contribution to the media was massive. Years of articles. Routinely over 500votes. Single articles with over 2,000votes. People chanted this guys name ffs, and he only got 5? Bit fkn discouraging for the general population Plato.
You should look up Dio Brando's stats. The guy with his own Bible should have a more respected media presence o.0

I look through my friends list (and I'm not a young player), there really isn't many MMM's, and most of them come from the org-vote, paid subscription era tbh. There was a lot more population to draw off back then too. The MMM is a "phew, finally done. Glad that's over" achievement. That is a harsh achievement scale for your most defining feature.
Check out this Irish legen😛 http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/kalashnikov-272548/1 in 3years he's collected a measly 113 subscribers for his 600 articles. All tabloid trash, all Enquirer style OTT, totally delightful. The comment sections are a troll-pocalypes. He's got more subs than his nation has voters, ffs how hard is it to get a damn medal!

We've all tried to get our RL friends interested in Erep (with varying degrees of success), but what do you point at?
Erep's battlefield visuals aren't going to impress the CoD generation (Nope, not the guerrilla screen either. Nope not the new battlefield screen either (though I do prefer it)).
Her Political module is far from eye catching.
Economy module looks the same.
But the articles
Player articles are the ONE page of this game that can truly capture someone's imagination in that crucial 1st minute.
I point at good articles and say this is why I play.
Roasting someone in the comment section of bad articles is the highlight of any login.

Media activity needs to be rewarded as much as possible. And I've gotta say: "Good job so far Plato!"

[crowd gasps]

Seriously though:

Good idea bro!

That is such a good idea Plato \o/

Don't stop there mate. Set that MMM to "percent of global population". (atm you need roughly 4% of the current voting population, or 1% of the entire eWorld to subscribe to your newspaper. RL's largest is 0.2😵. Large RL papers think in terms of market-share, why shouldn't we?
Let that little bit of extra medal gold dribble in. The media module is the one thing that really retains your payerbase.

I firmly believe media is the one module you have with the potential to increase your game population. The media is where most of our logged on time goes. It's how we invite new players. You are essentially paying for viral advertising with game-gold. Some erep articles are good enough to circulate outside the game and take on a life of their own. Thousands of new players might follow the net-breadcrumbs back to the Create an Account Screen from just one hit like that.
You're not going to get nearglobal advertising for cheaper than that mate!
