It may surprise many of you, but I still keep in touch with a few past and present members of this venerable community.
I confess I was mildly surprised when I found out that the game is still running.
I was tipped off by a phenomenally beautiful human being that a very old friend who had wondered off into the ether, mysteriously returned here yesterday and so I thought I'd resurrect myself, to reach out. If along the way I could also troll you all by publishing an article, a day before the end of such a glorious year, then that's just a bit of extra sizzle!
For anyone who happens to be interested, very little has changed over the intervening years, aside from the fact that I game less, and read more. If I don't read all those fancy fanfiction stories, who will? Oh, and you'll all be delighted to know I was (and hopefully will be once again) gainfully employed. Lockdowns unfortunately have no respect for jobs that are truly essential. As a strip club DJ that literally makes naked ladies dance to my tune... Could there be anything more important for morale?
While you ponder that question, I shall simply sit here and enjoy a delicious cigarette. (it isn't menthol, alas)

you seem like a cool and seasoned player, im sure that you would have many cool old stories to say about this game and your adventures in it...
i knew dillpickl in e-switzerland, back when we were getting invaded by e-slovenians, and by the e-romanian MU ''nemesis'', and our e-country was getting wwiped by them on a daily basis.
we repelled their PTO attempts and along with rican, mungos35, lucasFTM (known as wallen II later), dillpickl, vincent and myself, we all kicked the invaders out, and we've kept e-switzerland free again....
those were some good times.

Yeah, I'm pretty old. Got started nearly 4000 days ago during eCanada's first serious invasion of the eUK. I went on to end up as a Congress Member, then Speaker of Congress (when we still had a forum back then) Chief Justice of eCanada, then many years later, President of eCanada, though that was more for the lulz. So yeah, been around and funnily enough, basically everything has changed.
Alas the community is quite a bit smaller than it used to be but I'm glad to see that new players still join eCanada, it isn't just us old fogeys returning from time to time.
I do have a story about PTOs. They hadn't been tried before, not on any sort of organized level until I'd been in Congress for a few months. I was one of the few players in eCanada that didn't have a real life back then, so I spent 21 hours in our IRC, organizing voters to fight the Serbian surge. (We weren't friends with them back then.) Funny thing is, two of the Serbians who won seats in eCanada (We managed to win 23 seats in eCanada by eCanadians to 17 of the PTOers getting in.) ended up joining our community and became long-time friends. Six minutes after the election was finished, I wandered to my bed and passed out.
Yeah, my day job (Even though it happens at night) is a DJ in our local strip club. I'm friends with a few of the dancers. Unfortunately my province is locked down for the month of January, so we can't reopen until the lockdown is over.
