Semi-Term Check-In, June!

Day 1,299, 17:18 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Lord Lewis Cromwell
Greetings, people!

It's halfway through the congress term so I thought I'd give everyone an update on what I've done as a member of congress since I was so generously elected in May's election.

The first thing congress does each month is elect a speaker to handle the legislative matters. I sponsored and voted for Thomas who won the election against Temujin, and he has performed exempliary in the role so far!

We have also brought in two new advisors to congress who have been elected this month. Firstly there is Iain Keers, a hugely experienced player who I both sponsored and voted for as advisor and is doing a sterling job. After ending her term as our PM, Artela was proposed for an advisor role which I did not initially sponsor (she was included in our new PM's cabinet as advisor and I thought she'd like a break) but I did vote for the advisor role once the voting had begun because she deserves the role and will always be a great asset.

I'm still supporting our war against Ireland. We are currently helping our brothers in France against the Hungarian/Polish joint invasion which we cannot stop, but we will continue helping France when they need it, then we'll focus again on Ireland.

There has been a lot of productive discussion going on which I have been a part of! Our congress has discussed the possibilities of funding our hard-hitting players in preparation of difficult battles, or training up our reliable people so more people can hit harder, which we will consider. We have also discussed a regiment designed purely for our new players to join, however I deemed this unnecessary in our population as our growth is very slow. A few other topics discussed were improving our slightly damaged relations with our neighbour Belgium (we had a brief war with them a couple of months ago), the recent Political Take-Over (PTO) attempts made by terrorists and the repercussions on the congressmen who lost their seats due to these b******s. All this is on our national forums.

I made my first official Parliamentary Proposal! The proposal was called "The Discipline of War Act" and was designed to give our government more accountability and organisation when initiating war with a neighbour country. It received some good feedback but unfortunately was not supported enough to enter legislation, however I am confident that future PM's will take on board some of the points I made.

Two other changes I both sponsored and voted for were the repeal of the Parliamentary Budget Act (a piece of legislation which was unnecessary in the current economical situation) and the increase in the citizen fee (the amount of money our country gives new players when they make their character) which was part of ESO candidate Jamesw's manifesto for the executive position which he then won this month to become our Prime Minister, ESO's first PM in the party's history. Now new players will receive £20 instead of £5 to help them hit the ground running in their early days.

Finally, and proudly, I have been appointed as one of our country's two ambassadors to the TERRA Alliance! My remit as ambassador is to Japan, Russia and Chile who are great countries to work with and I hope to report many good things about them! It is an honour to represent the people as congressman and now double the honour to represent our country as ambassador too. Apparently I'm also very good at it, which is nice!

Thanks all for continued faith in our team, keep your arms up in these times where war is all around us, and look out for my next article closer to election time where I will surely be telling you more of the good work I am doing in congress!

Oh, and I'm a proud member of ESO! Check us out!
