RIP Nickerball

Many of you knew her before she left the game.

She recently passed away IRL.

While I've been around the game for far too long, I never quite fit the bill of "eSouth Africa's Olde Guard" that title is for those who were a part of the solution of the original PTO's and wipes from Indonesia and the (s)Croats.

Nickerball was a member of that group and one of the few who (until recently) had stuck with the game through thick and thin.

When I entered the eSA political scene, I came out with Guns a'Blazin looking for change and fun. Nickerball was a constant in the community but also was open for change as well. With such a young spirit, it took me almost a year to realize that she was not only a mother playing erepublik, but a GRANDMOTHER.

This is where I truly admired her. Nickerball played this game for nothing more than community. A way to keep in touch with her adult children who had moved away, and interact with her grandchildren on a level that most wouldn't even know about.

She never had political aspirations, or self-aggrandizing ventures (like myself) and I always looked to her as the pinnacle citizen in erepublik.

It wouldn't be farfetched to say that when I had power, while I respected other community pillars, it was Nickerball who I always worried about upsetting with my decisions.

As she was a tenured member of the Dignity Brigade, (and just as raunchy as the rest of us) she was one of the few that could calm us down whenever we were ready to burn down the house to change the carpet. She truly was the voice of reason as only an Elderly woman could be in a game of egotistical, sarcastic, power-hungry citizens.

Then again, it only makes sense, because everyone playing erepublik is a big family, and sometimes it takes a trip to Grandma's to stop a fight and remind you what's really important.

My sincerest condolences to her family and I believe I speak for everyone who ever interacted with her when I say: You will be missed.
