Rex and Military Units
Rex Ormunde
I have recently been asked why I am not in a Military Unit, and this was something I could not immediately answer. With that being said, I have decided to explain my experiences and why it lead me to becoming a 'lone wolf' as it were.
Back in my early eRepublik days, I was a very excited player. I love spreadsheets, IRC, coordinated combat and MU's with an actual military feel. This ended up leading me to the eUS Air Force. My time in the eUSAF was mostly positive. I learned a lot about the game, made some great friends and I got to experience the military theme as well as participate in their education and recruitment program.
Everything was great up until a few wars broke out. I forget the specifics on the wars themselves, but suffice it to say that my orders from the MU did not match the president's, nor the DoD's. There was mass miscommunication and even I did not agree with most of the orders regardless of their source. I ended up receiving a warning from all the parties above and decided that an eUS military unit was not for me. Unfortunately this meant I left a very beautiful handbook half finished, but I suspect I did more than enough ground work for others to complete.
Today though, I am not sure if the situation is the same. So why am I not in an MU today? I would rather not have a repeat experience, in fact I am even afraid of having that experience twice. So there you have it. This is why Rex Ormunde is a 'lone wolf'.

you play in a mu because of DO (25 fights=1 EB and 1 bazooka), there are plenty of MU's who respect country military politics, so claiming you are to "afraid" of some bad vibe which happened some time ago is ridiculous. Once you pased 25 kills for DO you can fight were ever you wish to fight.
If you don't want a eUSA MU there are others in other country's as well lol But being in a MU for daily order and that free eb is very useful.
The problem begins when the DO is in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and/or for the wrong reasons. Wasted damage is wasted damage not matter how large or small, or whether you get a bonus for it or not. Miscommunication starts a breakdown that can rip MU's apart.
Game mechanics > roleplay. DariusReg is right.
I don't see it as roleplay, since this has nothing to do with immersion or acting. What happened in the past is what lead to the USA having absolutely zero territory for quite some time. It was not fun.
Basically every one follows orders these days.
I've heard that eUS Mil & SEALs deviate for practical reasons (idk, maybe sometimes political as well) very rarely. For example, a SEAL said that if main prios are well in hand for the eUS, they'll sometimes switch to a different battle to distract the enemy). Now I don't know how often this happens, but I'm sure it's rarely. I know DoD (NSC, more specifically) communicates with major MUs in the eUS to let them know where eUS prios are.
Anyway, I'm sorry you had that experience. My time in USAF was also really nice for the most part, except at the end (hence my departure) like yourself. Maybe try joining a MU temporarily for the EBs/bazookas like DariusReg suggested. You're missing out on a decent chunk of the game because of a past terrible experience. 🙁 Give MUs another chance!
