Prime Minister's Questions

Day 533, 12:55 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

Today at 7pm we had the first PMQ of SaraDroz's term. It took place on the IRC room http://irc.erepublik.co.uk/

Initial thoughts

I was surprised at how well organised it was, I had a number of questions to ask, and simply messaged the man with the plan John Forseti using the IRC. I was put into a queue and after a short while was unmuted so I could talk with the Prime Minister. Many people were in attendance and lots of people contributed to asking questions.

Highlights

These are what I think some of the highlights of the conversation, I have filtered it down to the Q's and A's;

BBB: Sara: What are the 3 biggest goals for this term?
PM: - a. increase military coherence, b. balance the books and c. train!

Goku Jones: What is your tax plan for the enxt month?
PM: - lower the tax rate as funds alow
Q:which tax would you be lowering if possible?
PM: - VAT

Sir Graystar: What are your plans to make the eUK a stronger nation on the world stage in the next month?
PM: - some plans must remain classified but I hope the new Corps and training wars will start the progress
Q:Are we looking at conflict as well as training wars? Feel free to be very vague 😛
PM: -yes
PM: -our aim is train and hurt

Mr Woldy How long do you think it will take for the e-UK to have the strength and funds to invade?
PM: - we could do so tomorrow and incur wrath - we have a better plan I believe. For full power I estimate 3 months if our current plans work out
PM: - then we shall have true soldiers
Q:Whats your stance on diplomatic relations with the key PEACE countries, such as Indonesia?
PM: - Indonesia I have no contct with apart from information abroad. Make no mistake they are stronger than us - now.

Brodie: Coming back to your point of: "lower the tax rate as funds alow" - surely it should be the other way around? If we have low funds, then the raising of taxes would allow us to gain some income, for us to put into government run schemes and other key things? If we have low taxes, we have no real way of getting money, thus we'll have to keep printing and printing, and we don't want to lower the...
...value of the currency. If this isn't the case, where do you plan on getting this necessary funding from?
PM:- Imo the training wars and real wars will and Corps system will help boost the economy by encouraging greater private enterprise and investment. To use this properly and still maintain the same Treasury 'profit' we would hope that taxes could be lowered

DpH: How do you stand on countries such as the Philippines and South Africa, and other with strong British links?
PM: - I myself have a moral duty to those in Philippines and will help them personaly as much as I can. As PM eUK has no duty to help them and we shall not spend our money

IndieKi😛 I see that HexXa is now SC. Have you decided on any other ministers?
who?
PM: - Scipio I have admired for his work last tem and he shall be MoIE, Arthur Wellesley (previous uMof) will be MoF, Goku will be MoFA

IndieKid 'I wish to make it clear that during my time as Prime Minister, all domestic Cabinet Ministers will be selected from Congress' You say here that all cabinet ministers shall be chosen from congress, but you have already said that the SC shall be HexXa, isn't that a bit unfair considering you have already chosen even though the deadline isn't up and he isn't in congress like you promised in your manifesto?
about it being unfair that you had already chosen, and that hexXa wasn't in the HoC like you had promised in your manifesto
PM: - ok well my policy is to recruit from within
In😛 you didn't answer the question
PM: - he knows the Department

A_Wellesley: You were just elected with a rather broad electoral mandate. As the manifesto you ran on was quite militaristic, one could easily assume that your primary goals are military ones. Will you be placing less emphasis on domestic issues in favor of foreign policy objectives? Namely, will you be willing to wage warfare, etc., even if it potentially jeopardizes the economy?
PM: - No
A_W: Will you be willing to make that a pledge to the eUK?
PM: - yes
A_W Will you have the expectation of your Cabinet to put domestic issues before foreign objectives?
Within Cabinet discussions, within their own pursuits in their respective ministries (excepting those that are obviously only related to foreign policy), will they be expected to pursue domestic growth?
PM: - there is a link Arthur - unless we are strong domesticly we cannot win a war - domestic must come first

IndieKi😛 the MoH seems to have been abolished, doesn't that need a congress vote? Also but what is going to happen now? The NHS Directors, what happens to them? What happens to the clinics? What happens to all the non-forum patients? We need someone to administer the shut down, you have put up no application
PM: - Indeed you are correct and the close down will be handled by the military

Conclusion
This PMQ has been very insightful, and helps the people get information directly from the Prime Minister. I welcome next weeks, and hope that other Prime Ministers follow suite.
