Politics In V2

Day 875, 18:06 Published in Germany Germany by Alex Drex

As we get ever closer to the release date of version 2 of eRepublik, I continue to wonder and think about the changes that the political module will undergo in the transfer from version 1 to version 2. Not much has been released regarding the new political module in V2, probably because of the main focus on the military and economic modules. This article is my speculations on what I believe might be in the new module, along with a question I asked a few people.

Types of Government - this is one of the main things I wonder about. Currently, the only government type supported by game mechanics is democracy. Will more types be added in V2? Many people talk of different types of governments - communism, socialism, anarchy, etc. (see the Politics section of eRepublik forums for plenty of examples.) I'm not sure what types of governments there would be or how they would be implemented into the game mechanics, but either way, it's certainly something interesting to think about.

New Positions - currently only congress and president are official positions in the eRepublik game mechanics. Could new positions be part of the overhaul in V2? Most countries already have Ministers or Ambassadors, yet they are not official parts of the game mechanics, is it possible they could be integrated into the game? For example, when a president was elected perhaps he could go to a government page of eRepublik and edit the ministries, and who would be in control of them.

Revolution - this is something I haven't thought about much until recently, but it would definitely add an extremely interesting twist to eRepublik. The other day I was browsing the eRepublik forums, I checked the Suggestions and Feedback section and found this thread. I read the first post, and was intrigued, the idea seemed interesting. Then I noticed that the thread was locked, and the last post was from admin... Here's what admin had to say about "Popular Revolution!" -

"After the launch of the new economic and military modules, we will work for a much improved political module, including options like revolutions. This way we can even solve problems like Kosovo, which might be introduced and offered the opportunity to shape its e-destiny. "

In my opinion, revolutions would add a completely new aspect to the game, one that I think would be entertaining. I am extremely interested to see how this develops when V2 comes out!

Vice President - hopefully, in V2 there will be an official position for Vice President. Having an official Vice President would be extremely helpful. We've all seen Presidents get banned or have to resign because of RL issues, and currently the only way to get them out of office is to try to impeach them. Impeaching takes 66% "yes" votes to be passed, if it is not passed you have to wait another week for an impeachment to be tried again. I remember not long ago the Russian President being banned, and the Russian Congress failed to get a 66% vote for his impeachment - twice. Leaving Russia virtually ungoverned for two weeks, they could not attack or anything. Also, if an impeachment is successful, the runner up from the Presidential elections then becomes President. But a Vice President position wouldn't only be useful for impeachments/resigning of Presidents. Occasionally a Country President is not online, whether they are asleep, at work, or just cannot get on, when an important battle is supposed to take place. If need be, a Vice President could issue orders for battle in the Presidents stead.

Short Interviews

I have asked a few people the following question:

"What would you most like to see in the new Political Module in V2?"

Konrad Neumann - "Maybe real state org(s), not just regular orgs that can be banned, orgs with more security. I want to see a system of contracts again also."

GLaDOS - "Bring back mayors/governors and make the congress election system less broken."

Chucky Norris - "The possibility to sack congressman out if they are inactive or just plain incompetent."

Max McFarland 2 - "Clear mechanical incentives for a return to regional politics, vice the current national focus."

Jacobi - "I'd definitely like to see alternate government types.... Parliamentary, presidential style, constitutional monarchies, etc. Countries should have the ability to set up a government that reflects how they want to play."

Sterling - "It would be cool if we could have different forms of government I think. That would be really exciting. Also having the ability to deport people from a nation. I put that in a political question since congress accepts citizenship. So I assume they would be in charge of deportation if that ever were to happen."

Cavalcanti - &quot😉ifferent kinds of government, ability to dissolve Congress (costing Gold)."

Daniel Dimow - "I'd like to see either the runner up in the Party President elections become Party President if the winner resigns, or for some sort of elections for Co-President to be available."

Agent Chieftain - "Flexibility of political systems."

Longbaugh - "Region-specific governments. Something akin to Governors."

Woldy - "Party wise you can currently choose your orientation; thnigs like liberal, or anarchist or totalitarian. Yet these are just words, not backed by any ingame system. If say a party changed to totalitarian perhaps the new modules could adjust the powers the PP has according to what kind of party it is. Furthermore, perhaps different kinds of elections can be held (what type is used could be changed by a congress vote) which would allow different types of representation to be had. I only say that because the current system basically makes the votes given to candidates who don't get in even if they are higher than some of the wildcards redundant. All in all there's a few changes here and there that could be added in to allow countries to become more politically unique and seeing the PP's get more power would be pretty good too."

Frerk - "Ingame support for governments, real governments."

Now I would like to know, what do you all want to see most in the new Political Module in V2? Answer in the comments! 🙂 Thanks for reading!
