Personal statement - Game, Laws, Impeachment and our country.

Day 2,688, 08:16 Published in Israel Israel by John Rupert Miranda

Shalom citizens of e-israel,

I was feeling good, ever since the new Knesset was elected and I tell you why:
We have a decently active legislature, we have created the budget and finance committee, the foreign affairs committee, the defense committee (which has been very active in the last 24 hours for reasons I will not publicly say), the education committee (which is being created today) and one thing I'm very proud of: the Citizenship Agency, which Act was passes in the last legislature term and for the first time it is actually working.

I also (by consensus) was re-elected Speaker of the Knesset, and have put a lot of effort into it.

But today I stopped feeling good.

First, I saw a rogue proposal (a tax change) which was not discussed in the Knesset chamber from a member who has been playing for some time now...I and just fail to see why they don't get a grasp on things, on how we play the game. I just cannot understand. I judge everyone on the basis that we are all equally smart, and that we have all the notion of what is right and wrong, and that everyone has (somewhat) the same ability to learn things, basic things.

But then, I noticed something that really struck me...an impeachment proposal:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/Israel/157782
With no reasons at all, no discussion in parliament, the congressman who proposed it did not even care to give his reasons before the Knesset, as any politician would do.
And this is not, I repeat, this is not a troll proposal; It was made by the Leader of the Greater Israeli Party.

So, this is what I have to say:

I understand that, during elections, there might be some bickering between the candidates...strong messages, comments, and all sorts of things, which is something normal in terms of campaigning strategies and whatnot.

But there was really no reason for an impeachment...Candidate rufus released a campaign article (1 of a 4-5 he has been releasing for the last week) and he just said "what about the other candidates? no program, no vision" which rhetoric and a simple campaign message.

So this is my point, to everyone, including the people I'm mentioning on this article:

YOU CAN'T INVOLVE AN INSTITUTION LIKE THE KNESSET, AS PART OF ANY CAMPAIGN.

You, candidates, have to learn to tell KNESSET issues apart from PARTY POLITICS.

Chris is the leader of the greater israeli party, and I like him since I've met him but, I feel disappointed, because he used his place as a Member of the Knesset to send a campaign message, basically, impeaching the current country president which was supported by the Israeli Reform Party.

And this may not be a big deal for some of you but, when you think about a prospective country president candidate, putting before his personal interests before the country's interests? In other words, by recklessly proposing this impeachment, had it passed, we would have ended up WITH NO COUNTRY PRESIDENT, AT A TIME WHEN WE ARE FACING AN EXTERNAL THREAT!

If you don't believe me, this is the game mechanic:
"If the following candidate has not got the citizenship of the country where he was running for presidency, the following candidate will be considered. In special cases (when all candidates are not eligible for receiving presidency), the country can even have no president."

Again, just for personal interests, just to attack another candidate, instead of responding the opposite candidate by releasing an article, with some rhetoric, and outlining plans for the future, the leader of the Greater Israeli Party, decided to launch an impeachment which would have, effectively, left us with no Executive power in a time where, we are facing a daily threat by external forces because of the new dictatorship module.

So this is my message to all current candidates and to those running in the future: If you are going to campaign, release your manifesto, outlining your defense plans, foreign policies, education programs, and so on (which candidates rufus and drhavoc have been doing).

And I'm sorry, I should not be this blunt and maybe leave things behind, especially being the Speaker of the Knesset...but, During the last week, Chris Emma has not posted a single comment on any Knesset thread, and did not asked to be part of any of the committees we have formed. So how can we expect, as e-israelis, to take this candidacy seriously, when this candidate who is not only the Leader of a party but the leader of his caucus in the Knesset, has not even say a single word since we started the new Congress.

Is that what we are being offered? troll proposals during the whole CP term? airstrike proposals on a whim? attack proposals because the CP felt like it? Rogue money transfer proposals?

So to wrap things up, I expect the WHOLE country, to behave, otherwise I'd just really quit this game (yes, quit, I do not move to other countries like some others) I remain loyal to e-Israel...Since the very day I joined this country, it gave me hope, its people gave me a chance, an opportunity to serve them for which I'm grateful.

My fellow countrymen, we are facing serious threats from outside. This is not the time for reckless proposals, or nasty campaign strategies: THIS IS THE TIME, FOR OUR CITIZENS, TO COME TOGETHER AND DEFEND ISRAEL.

Whoever you vote this term, I could not care less. But I expect citizens, politicians, members of the Knesset and cabinet members to behave.

When you guys (yes, you, whoever is reading) feel like someone for political reasons is "attacking you" or using rhetoric, DO THE SAME, defend yourself, run a good campaign, BE SMART! but please do not put Israel, ever, at risk. Or take it against the state. It is not Israel's fault if a person feels attacked or whatever.

As you know a couple of terms ago, Remiix, our MoFA, turned against Israel, when our country had NOTHING to do with what happened at all. It was a political issue, her against some of us in a Knesset discussion, which is the very thing the knesset is there for, to democratically discuss and give our opinions. Instead, she just proved us RIGHT...I said all along, that she could not care less for Israel and that she was not here for Israel, but for personal motives, and I was proven right, she left, and she turned against us even by supporting, planning or encouraging a coup. Something that was supposed to be solved, between individuals.

So again, this is my message to all parties, politicians, congressmen and citizens, BEHAVE and put e-Israel always first, and if you have any issues with someone else, solve it! fix it! it is your problem and is not Israel's problem.

My advice for everyone, is, whenever you are angry, don't make hasty decisions. Breathe, drink something, and speak to someone. Do always what's morally, and ethically right and do not succumb to anger, which is the embodiment on earth of all that is evil.

Thanks

John Rupert Miranda
