Our Guests Season I (Lithuania) - Episode II (Lithuanian Flag)
noenting
Lithuania has decided to visit Norway. In a series the Fennoscandian is explaining Lithuania, Lithuanians and Lithuanian habits to its readers together with Åke S. from the Norwegian Institute for Foreign Politics.
In the first episode the National Anthem of Lithuania has been discussed. In this episode the flag of Lithuania will be featured
Stolen - the Flag of Lithuania
The flag of Lithuania features three horizontal stripes. The lowest of which is held in red a reminder to the fact that Lithuania is a colony of Poland. The green stripe in the middle is a symbol for the grass and the plants in Lithuania. "Concerning the yellow stripe, however, there is an ongoing dispute about its meaning" explains Åke S. "Some say that it resembles the jealousy of Lithuania, some tend to say it is a symbol of the Chernobyl fallout falling on the plants of Lithuania basically destroying a year's Vodka production". Åke S. tends to believe the latter meaning is true.

"Let us, however, dig a bit deeper into the origins of the Lithuanian flag" continues Åke S. "Have you, ever seen the flag of the Danish Island of Ærø? Just compare that flag to the Lithuanian one. While the flag of Lithuania was adopted in 1918, the flag of Ærø has been in place for centuries. We can conclude the Lithuanian flag is stolen indeed"

The Fennoscandian found out that the Flag of Myanmar is somehow similar to the one of Lithuania. Åke S. commented this finding "I always thought Lithuania stole the flag of Ærø, but that they stole the flag of Myanmar as well, that is new to me as well."

Stealing other people's flags is just outrageous!
We will rain death and bacon upon them, for this kind of thievery!! Danish flags belongs to Denmark, even though we found/discovered our own flag in some silly battle in Estonia!!
Troll LOL
Hahahaha
It's not stealing if we assume Lithuania belongs to of Ærø 🙂
Thieves!
I, as a renowned vexillologist, am here to set straigh the dispute about the yellow color in the stolen flag.
For centuries, the gold (yellow) flag color has been regarded as a knightly symbol of vomit. In the Nordic and Baltic nations, however, it takes on the added meaning of that color that the face of a constipated knight takes on , while in the middle of a battlefield with no restroom in sight.
Glad I was able to help in your noble quest.
oh norway, take a look at thailand 😉
Thailand copied the Norwegian flag. Well as you clearly know, the Flag of Thailand using its current colors was adopted in 1917. The flag of Norway with its current colors was used since 1821 on ships and since 1899 as Flag of Norway. While the Thai flag uses a 1:1:2:1:1 ratio for the horizontal stripes the Norwegian flag uses a 6:1:2:1:6 ratio for the horizontal proportions, which basically makes the Thai flag a part of the Norwegian flag.
Thieving bastards!!!
