King of Ireland.

Apparently according to Irishbhoy1967 you can make claims on titles just by announcing it in a newspaper article.
Well I am the King of Ireland.
Long live the King.

I thought that Connell already took that one... meh. *bows down*
Connell is High King.
Oh he's high alrite!
The Irish never appreciated monarchy. Still don't.
/shrug
That's it, It's Civil War time.
Everyone pick a side and line up, we're playing Brittish Bulldog!
"The Irish never appreciated monarchy"
Hardly true. We never appreciated the British Monarchy would probably be more accurate.
British monarchy are Germans - last British monarch was Richard III - thou then again he was just an English Monarch
Wrong IB, learn your Irish history. Ard Ri was never about being a monarch, it was a tribal leadership, largely ceremonial, and never fully accepted throughout the land. Druid ceremonies formalised the shindig, and only later when the Christians and the Brits arrived did the history books get re-written to resemble typical monarchist structures.
Shame on you Plastic Paddies.
I should have thought bigger.
Emperor sounds nice.
Apparently Grainne I am descended from one of those Druid, tribal guys. Well my moms' family name means "Son of the King" so I have some claim to the title. lol
🙂
Well, I am too. One of the original tribes, with a beansidhe and all.
So I'll see you in the oakgrove on Sept 21 😉
Galway Castle = my family's claim. Have the paper work. Just sayin'
Grainne's the Pirate Queen. 🙂
And my real family name suggests I come from kings too - kings of Munster that is. Not Gormley though. That comes from gaylords. 🙂
sorry to spoil your illusions about some old bricks, lads
that's my castle

@Grainne
Firstly, I'm rl Irish, just cos I don't force my accent through like yourself when commenting here, don't make me a plastic.
Secondly, nice skim through thousands of years in one paragraph der.
And whether ceremonial or not, doesn't change anything about how much it was "appreciated" and to this day there still is a fascination among many Irish people when it comes to the subject of An Árd Rí.
The Irish backed Kings/Kingships/Monarchs/Monarchies whenever it suited them.
lmao @u, IB, try again with the history there (or should I say "der", like you do, when you force your accent through?)
I didn't question the fascination, or support, of Ard Rí na hÉireann, I said it wasn't a typical monarchy.
The only time the title of King of Ireland existed was when the Brits set it up in the 1500's.
"whenever it suited them" - duh, well yes, ofc.
You may not be plastic, despite the clover for a shamrock etc, but you sure need to brush up on your heritage.
/shrug
srsly guys
King of Ireland right here!
Are you trying to tell me Gráinne that i'm not appreciated?
FU b*tch!!!
King Connell, I can only please one person a day.
Today is NOT your day.
Tomorrow is not looking good, either.
You applied my proper title...
This pleases me.
All is forgiven
"wasn't a typical monarchy"
which I have not argued with. I only argued with your very misleading statement "The Irish never appreciated monarchy. Still don't"
I doubt you speak for everyone Irish both today and throughout history.
Hey I'm the one that posted the article. That makes me King. Well according to Irishbhoy anyway. lol.
Sorry King Connell. I have dibs.
I am glad we got on the topic of family histories though. What with me being a Historian and all.
😉
*sigh*
"The Irish never appreciated monarchy." = they never implemented a typical one, ever, in their history.
"Still don't" = no recent constitutional amendment or popular movement to introduce one.
"I doubt you speak for everyone Irish both today and throughout history." Nope, I don't. Nor did I claim to.
I'd ask you wtf yr problem is, but its obvious.
/another shrug. (der)
Grainne failing to admit she was wrong for making sweeping generalisations der.
lol, I'm glad I still manage to p*ss you off so much that you can't stop posting inane crappy retorts.
Have you not got an eCountry to run or something, der, Paulie Walnuts?
Not bothered runnin it anymore tbh. You have never "p*ssed me off" btw.
>inane crappy retorts
>says Grainne with an inane crappy retort of her own
no?
/must try harder
Is it just me or does irishbhoy seem exactly like Johnny Giles der?

touche Gormley, your kinda like brady der yourself
I'm a Plastic Paddy but I have a tattoo of a shamrock on my penis.
It's actually a four leaf clover when I get excited.
I rule Ulster No backsies
I got dibs on Grand Poobah of Ireland!
First of all Chance you have to publish it in an article.
Yddub. My penis tattoo says " Way" most times but when I'm excited it says" Welcome to Ireland, have a nice day."
Well, looks like you got my little clover leaf beat.
*sadface*
Love the great efforts at being Irish and laughing every time I see 'der. Gonna have to join in and start all my articles with something along the lines of "s'craic, hows she cutting bud? Tis miself begod" and end with "sorry luv, but I invested everything we had in AIB"
ANYWAY, since when is there a castle in Galway? (Galway Castle = my family's claim. Have the paper work. Just sayin') I've lived in Galway for the most part of my life and can't say I've ever noticed a castle knockin about
