Israel: A dying community - Politics
Dear citizens of Israel,
I have been playing eRepublik for more than a year and unfortunately when I look at our community my desire to play drops. Inactivity, carelessness, lack of communication and political apathy are the main reasons our community is small and weak. For the reasons mentioned above I have decided to write a series of articles about the issues in our community. Today's topic is politics.
Due to to a political apathy, the congress became a puppet of the government, a tool that used by the government to make law proposals successfull.
Being a congress member means more that having an access to some buttons, it is a duty. The congress is a body composed from representatives of each party. Its members were chosen in a democratic way by the citizens, it means that the citizens trust you to fill your duty in the best way.
None of the congress members have proposed a suggestion. There was not even one serious discussion inside the congress despite the efforts of the government to start a few.
This situation created the fact that Israel is controlled by the same people in every month. Few citizens that are willing to take care of this community despite the difficulties.
Some citizens would say that Israel was a dictatorship in the last couple of months. I agree with this claim. Both the citizens and the congress members are not willing to be involved in the decision-making process. This fact creates a situation in which the government should make decisions by its own without consulting it with the citizens.
The parties in Israel do not represent any idea. It seems that the citizens choose their party according to their friends. Being a party president became a duty; to filter the congressional list.
The citizens do not want to express their opinions and positions, and I am sure that there are disagreements inside the community. This is one of the reasons the congress vote yes for any law proposal proposed by the president.
The presidential elections are not important. There is only one candidate in every month, two in the best case. There is no competition, and it caused by the fact that no one is willing to take the reins and lead this community.

חבר כנסת הוא יותר מאשר אדם בעל נגישות למספר כפתורים, זהו תפקיד חשוב. הכנסת היא גוף המורכב מנציגים מכלל המפלגות הגדולות במדינה. חבריה נבחרו בדרך דמוקרטית על ידי האזרחים, משמע האזרחים סומכים עליכם שתמלאו את חובתכם כחברי כנסת בצורה הטובה ביותר
אף אחד מחברי הכנסת העלה רעיון כלשהו במסגרת התפקיד. אף דיון אחד לא נערך בכנסת למרות מאמצי הממשלה לפתוח בדיון בנושאי פנים, צבא ויחסי חוץ
מצב זה גרם לעובדה שישראל נשלטת על ידי מספר מצומצם של אזרחים בכל חודש. מספר קטן של שחקנים שמוכנים לקחת את אחריות על הקהילה למרות הקשיים
יהיו ויאמרו כי ישראל מתנהלת בצורה דיקטטורית. ובכן, אני מסכים עם טענה זו. גם האזרחים וגם חברי הכנסת לא רוצים להיות מעורבים בהליך קבלת ההחלטות. עובדה זו יוצרת מצב בו על הממשלה להחליט החלטות על דעת עצמה מבלי להתייעץ עם הכנסת או האזרחים
המפלגות בישראל אינן מייצגות שום רעיון. נראה כי שחקנים בוחרים במפלגות לפי חבריהם למשחק. תפקיד יושב ראש המפלגה הפך לתפקיד אחד והוא סינון רשימת המתמודדים לכנסת
האזרחים אינם מעוניינים להביע את הדעות שלהם, הרעיונות שלהם ועמדותיהן הפוליטיות, אולם אני בטוח כי ישנן אי-הסכמות בקהילה. זוהי אחת הסיבות שהכנסת מצביעה "כן" עבור כל הצעת חוק שהוצעה על ידי נשיא המדינה
הבחירות הנשיאותיות אינן חשובות. ישנו רק מועמד אחד בכל חודש, שניים במקרה הטוב. אין תחרות פוליטית ואחת הסיבות לכך היא העובדה שאף אחד אינו מוכן לקחת את המושכות בידיים ולהוביל את הקהילה

Voted! You are spot on, I couldn't agree more. The Israeli community needs a complete makeover if we are to fulfill our potential. And although in this current state we are in a really bad situation...

רק בזכות הריבים האלה היה רעב לקהילה לפעילות פוליטית 🙂
היו ריבים רציניים עם תומר ועוד אנשים לא זוכר ממש על מה אבל היה משוגע פה חחחחח
הריבים היו תוצר ישיר של קהילה פעילה ותוססת... כמובן שלפעמים זה גלש לפסים קצת לא נעימים, אבל בכל זאת אני דיי בטוח שהמצב הנוכחי יותר גרוע.

Vlad, I ran for presidency four times, but I wanted the role only in 2 months. I ran because nobody else wanted to do the job of the president.

It isn't like this is an eIsrael problem. It's the entire game of eRepublik.
I've been playing for five years.
I've seen the rise and fall of empires, alliances, game changes, epic battles (of which there hasn't been one like them for years now), and the like.
One brief look at the population numbers of the top 10 countries gives the answer. The game itself is simply becoming less and less popular. Four years ago, the eUSA had over 24K active citizens. eGreece had over 23K active citizens. eRussia had something like 22K active citizens. Look at them now. We are a dying breed.

Even countries with only 50 active citizens are active a bit and its citizens care a lot and I can see it by the media, military etc. I don't see why it can't be in Israel as well.
וואלה מיקי אני אעשה משהו שבדרך כלל אני לא עושה... אדבר קצת על החיים האמיתיים... שהם קשים מאוד במדינה שלנו ופה אנשים עוברים חרא מסוג שונה ממה שיש בחו"ל... אין מה לעשות הקהילה שלנו היא השתקפות בזעיר אנפין של המדינה שלנו... איך אמרת בעצמך ? כמה אזרחים שמוכנים לקחת על עצמם את העבודה - למרות הקשיים... מה לעשות אין לנו דקה לנשום במדינה הזו חרא מיסים משטרה שחיתות ואלימות בכל מקום... מה לעשות רק ילדים שעוד גרים אצל אבאמא יכולים להשקיע זמן ככה במשחק... זו האמת העצובה כלכך שלנו... אפילו בזמנים הטובים של הקהילה עוד לפני הזמנים שלי חצי קהילה הייתה מחו"ל והיו פה ושם ישראלים שהחזיקו את הצד השני... אף פעם באמת לא היינו מדינה גדולה במשחק בדיוק מהסיבות שמונעות מאיתנו להיות מדינה גדולה גם בעולם האמיתי... לפחות בינינו לבין עצמנו 🙂

יש המון ציניות בתגובה שלך, כלפי המדינה בחוץ בעיקר, כשהכרתי אותך לא היית ככה, כמה זמן אתה כבר ככה?
תגדל קצת תרצה להקים משפחה ובית ותבין לבד איפה אתה חי... דוגמא טובה לדברים ששוברים לי את האמון במדינה זה העובדה שכל זוג שמתחתן פה מקבל אגרת טלוויזיה של הערוץ הראשון אוטומטית כי הרי בטוח יש לו טלויזיה ולמה לא לטרטר את הבנאדם הקטן... תאמין לי אני מייעץ לכל מי שיכול פיזית לעוף מפה ישר אחרי השירות הצבאי וגם אם הוא יכול לעשות משהו אקדמי בצבא לוחם אפילו יותר טוב בשבילו
ממשלת וישי הלאימה את הנגרייה של סבא שלי בטוניז אז יש לי אזרחות ולימודים חינם שם בכל מקרה, אבל אני הולך לגור בארץ, כשאני מסתכל על אנשים כאן אני רואה דבר אחד, הם חיים מעל היכולת שלהם, לגבי שאר הרגולציות המטומטות, זה בכל מקום, כאן יותר, אבל זה יעבור בסופו של דבר, אין טעם לעבור למדינה אחרת כדי לחיות חיים נוחים יותר, צריך ללמוד להסתדר כאן.
תראה אביב, זה נכון שהחיים בישראל הם לא כמו בכל מדינה אחרת. אחרי הצבא אתה כנראה כבר מבין שאיזה משחק דפדפן באינטרנט זה סתם דבר דפוק, יש דברים הרבה יותר חשובים מזה. אבל יש כאן קהילה של 100 שחקנים ואני לא רואה סיבה שלא תהיה קצת פעילות מהם. הרי המטרה של כולנו היא לפתח את הקהילה. אף אחד כמעט לא רצה לקחת חלק בפרויקט הבייבי-בום בשבוע שעבר. הצלחנו להביא 200 שחקנים חדשים (אני ועוד מספר חברה ממש חדשים) אבל גם הם פרשו משום שהקהילה פשוט לא מעניינת
צריך לנסות להפעיל בחזרה את FXP וגם את המירק, שהייתי חדש זה שתי הסיבות שבגללם נשארתי והחזרקתי במשחק הזה.. אבל זה בעיה לאף אחד אין כוח
כולכם צודקים כאן, גם אביב אבל גם רואי כי זה תלוי למי אנחנו משווים את המדינה שלנו, בתנאים שיש במדינה אז באמת האנשים חיים יותר טוב ממה שהם היו חיים במדינות אחרות.

My two cents:
My fondest political memories in this game come from back in the day, where I was eJapanese and most politics were performed on IRC and on external forums. The public would constantly bicker at the gov on the forum and in the papers to try to get them to do things or enact changes, as well as cry out for transparency.
I think if you want to revive this community, you're going to need to strive for more activity on IRC and possibly create a new forum (other than fxp...unfortunately that forum is monolingual and thus ostracizes non-hebrew speakers). The CP also needs to deliver proposals and actions to congress for them to deliberate.
אהבתי הרגעות בעבר כאשר הייתי יפנית ורוב הפוליטיקה קרה במירק והפורום. הקהילה תמיד בקשה לממשלה לעשות כל דבר עם שקיפות, וגם התלוננה בעיתונות ובפורום כדי ליזום שינוי בקהילה.

We tried to create forums in the past, but none of our citizens were active in it, the same with IRC, we always encourage the citizens to join IRC and talk with others .. it's like talking to a wall.

היה לי פעם רעיון להגדיל את הקהילה אבל לא היה לי מספיק זמן להתמקד בו... אם למישהו יש זמן פנוי אז אעזור במה שאוכל
חשבתי לשנות כיוון וכן להתמקד בישראל האמיתית. זה יכול להיות רלוונטי לשתי קבוצות שחקנים- ישראלים שרוצים לעזור בהסברה מאחר ובמשחק יש הזדמנות יחודית לקשר עם אנשים מסביב לעולם, וגם לזרים שאוהדים את ישראל ורוצים לתמוך בה בכל דרך שיוכלו
דמיינו למשל שכל מי שבא לארץ לתגלית מצטרף למשחק ועוזר לנו מארץ המקור שלו... זה נראה דמיוני אבל אפשרי

Voted, Sad, but true. In every economical article, i ask people that if they have any doubt or question about the economical situation, to contact me....and in 6 month as MoF, i only had ONE contact.
While I can both agree and disagree with this article the truth is I was never really "Absorbed" into this as much as I would have liked.
I log in every day, eat, work, sell, fight, contribute, comment, vote, etc. But I never really got a welcoming party of sorts. Obviously it's not something I'm expecting, I should gather the interest within myself but I feel like unless someone who really understands the way the game works really explains it to you as a whole there is only so far you can go and understand. It could be the language barrier, or it could easily have something to do with my time.
IRL I have been living in Israel for a few years, although I can speak the language I still have trouble reading and writing it (try watching me order a pizza using the Domino's app in Hebrew lol). I have huge problems with the irc and it's understanding but I just feel like it's unorganized.
That being said, I hope that the people of Cyprus understand that this is just a game. Whatever your country or the "World" thinks of Israel is your own opinion, just because you grow up listening to "rumors" or "facts" doesn't mean a governments actions represent those of it's people. Just look at any countries government and it's citizens to see that although the big wigs make the decisions doesn't mean it's citizens are on board. So get off your high chairs and chill out.
Sorry for the rant and the long post, hope things get more "Community-like" someday if ever.

There was a time when every new citizen got a welcoming message and a "sponsor" guiding them through the confusing game...
I guess that with the small size of the community that doesn't work anymore, so it's like a cycle leading to more players leaving.

don't worry about Cyprus... eIsrael was occupied many times in the past and will probably be occupied ten years from now when only Miki will be still playing this game
All too true, I remember the numerous times that Turkey had occupied Israel. Especially the RL issue regarding Flatilla 😑
Lol I'm the opposite with my hebrew--but yet again I learned it academically in an American university, not through immersion, which might explain the differences in our comprehension. I've only been to Israel once in my life after all and that was 6 years ago now.
I really need to think about doing birthright within the next few years now that they opened it up to people who have already visited the country lol.
Btw ya I agree with your comment. It's tricky though, the site itself lacks a good framework for easy community communication other than the feed and articles (we can talk about PMs but they require friend requests).
