Goodbye Probably for Good

Day 3,109, 10:10 Published in South Africa South Africa by Bloody Claudio

Friends and Allies,
To those of you still hanging around from the days when I was active, I truly valued our time spent together.

eRepublik wasn't always a game to me. I found it at a time when I was going through some personal stuff and was pretty lonely. It started out as a way for me to keep in touch with a few friends, but ultimately the friends I made in this game were the most eye-opening.

I was eBorn NoRealityLife in Australia despite being RL American, and moved to eSA because my friend told me to and he needed votes for congress (back when you voted for individuals) Alas, Ari Lumumba is but a name in the eSA history books.

While in my idle state, I found friends in Enriche2Ribeiro and Wilpanzer and they truly brought me into the game. My activity was crazy and I couldn't have had more fun with inter-party politics and public debates. The original Union of Patriots was exciting, a step out of the ordinary for those who were bored with the safe, same ways that eSA worked under the other leading party.

Through these debates I made friends with those on the opposite side of the aisle, Mulderpf, Nickerball(RIP) and Al Kazar, I admired their dedication and excitement to the game and never understood (until now) how real life could pull you away from something so fun.

As the game shifted from a political focus, I continued to find ways to be active: the MU, Psychedelic Unicorn Rangers was a fun, inspired group that created its own missions. Lead by the powerhouse Veschy, he gave orders and we followed, not a Mercenary group, per se, but a group seeking fun. He even had writing contests.

It was around this time that both mine and Veschy's accounts got suspended, not due to illegal activities, but because of a hacker, (Which is surprising since I was involved in a lot of black market trading at the time XD)

I created a new character Claudio Kilgannon and with it a new persona. I was a hardened member of the DB at this point but still moderate enough to act as a liaison between them and other parties. When push came to shove, and after roughly 7 months of being one of the most active people in the country, I unified the vote of the Turkish influx of citizens, the Macedonians and a couple of South African parties to become CP twice. I was very proud of that title and the fun I tried to inspire in South Africa. I cut ties with former allies, Uruguay and ultimately ended our protection treaty with Brazil. I owe a great deal of thanks to Grimstone who helped me through all this and also had to stick around to clean up my mess when I didn't run for a third term.

My cabinet members, Locutus, Jizzie McGuire, Rico Suave among others helped give me the backbone I needed to run the country the way I wanted to. Was it wrong to cut ties like that? Maybe? Probably? but I still stand by it and believe that it lead to greater activity in our country that was dying of complacency.

During this war with Uruguay and Brazil, we let in some Lazocrats to help us fight them and they did. They were also brought in to help us defeat Egypt in a giant continent-wide resource-war. They wanted paid according to the damage they contributed and unfortunately myself and congress voted against that measure. It was as this point they began to move into our politics. Which then leads to the story about our liaison with the Lazos, Leon Reno.

Leon wanted the power he had been working for and ultimately got it, I believe through a fair election, mostly based on getting the Lazocrasi to leave. Despite a lot of prior questionable activity with the Lazocrats, himself, he did win and ultimately the faces of the Lazocrat organization left the country. During his term as president he was blamed for a lot of problems and when he wasn't reelected, he left the country. Shortly after, the Lazocrats, having now realized that we were a small, inactive country, found ways back into the country through payouts to unknown congressmen and oversights of letting the wrong people into congress. From there the multi's started coming and before long, we elected a newly returned Tenshibo CP, I was his VP and backed him and a plan that he had formed. When that plan fell through, he became inactive himself, not responding to my texts or messages and ultimately robbed and sold the treasury.

Supporting Tenshibo was probably my biggest regret, because with his month of inactivity, and the treasury gone, the spirit of eSA evaporated as well. The betrayal affected the pillars of the country who had been trusted for so long with protecting those funds. The Dignity Brigade, who was Tenshibo's contact and remaining link to eSA also has been all-but inactive since then. The spark is gone, sadly.

Never one to be brief, Mr. Wet usually was the brief one, I decided that I'd rather leave the game on my own terms and leave a long, storied article, than simply fizzling out.

I moved around a bit after this to try to reignite an interest in a dying game and never could. Australia and Sweden couldn't do it, they were great, but they weren't "Home." When I lost my Claudio account I created this one and thought I'd start anew. It never cam to fruition though and now I leave you.

I'd like to thank so many people for their time and getting to know you over the years.
