Day 2,788, 14:32 Published in Canada Canada by Thedillpickl

Hi kids!

I think we can squeeze one more on!

Well, the topic for today is:

"Does ya pay me now or does ya pay me later?"
~or~
"Last guy to leave gits stuck with the bill."

You can skip ahead to the comment section now and tell me how wrong I am. Go ahead, show everyone how smart you are. No need to read the next section unless you would like to know what I believe needs done to keep Canada open for business.

Choices Are Good

Keep in mind we have a choice to make, pay for war or not. I suppose a third option is that we could raise taxes AND have no war. That would give bitchers extra things to do here. However we cannot do neither. People that used to fund your fun little wars are tired of flipping the bill. Xichael did an excellent job of putting on a good show at little expense. Dennis is looking to continue the fun but is running out of cc.

I've made my choice. My commune is gone, I no longer make over a hundred of Q7s per day for free (except for a small tax), which were given to my workers and used by me. Now I have to pay for what I use. I also don't have thousands of cc to 'donate' for CO and MPPs. My daily damage is limited. Others may do as they like but I don't feel compelled to spend hundreds of RL dollars here anymore.

Those who've never spent (or spend very little) money to play erep need to understand that war is not cheap. A choice must be made. Someone has to pay the bills. If we are not to spend RL money then that only leaves cc that the game provides, in other words tax revenue.

Donations through fund raisers are great and it gives folks a chance to get involved, to feel like they are part of what's going on. The problem is that without gold buyers the results will be radically reduced, sporadic and short lived.

The Choice You Must Make

The bottom line is this, war or no war? People complain when there is no war. People complain when taxes are raised. The treasury is running dry. Time to decide if Canada continues to wage war or if we make cc to fill our accounts.

You seem to forget that the taxes can be changed in a matter of hours. As soon as the war ends the taxes can be reduced. Higher taxes during war time is a common thing in the real world, should it not be so here?

The idea of saving a warchest in the treasury is long past, no one likes the idea of saving for war. Now we must see if anyone wants to actually pay for war.
