Day 1,280, 13:35 Published in Switzerland USA by Penguin4512

Hey, remember back when we had a country?

Yeah, those were the days. That was back before the game mechanics were skewed to put us at a disadvantage. That was when reckless imperialism had its consequences. That was when small countries had a chance.

And now? Well, just look at the map.

Oh god, it burns

There are new rules in this game, and if we do not adapt, we will die. It is time we resort to an option that in earlier days would have been unthinkable: a small-country alliance.

The term small-country alliance has traditionally been associated with loud, raucous laughter and an autokick from #eSwitzerland. That's because basically every small alliance in the past has been a complete and utter failure.

Sol.
One.
Entente.

None of them succeeded in the main goal they were all created for: protecting the sovereignty of their members.

And you know why? It's because they all went around trying to achieve their goals in precisely the wrong way.

When a group of small countries comes up against a group of large nations, the large nations will almost always win. An alliance completely committed to protecting smaller nations will always fail.

Today, any small countries will survive through two techniques: Allying with a larger nations or alliance, or coming to an agreement with their occupiers. If a small-country alliance is to succeed it needs to understand that it can help member nations infinitely more by helping them reach diplomatic solutions. And the members of the alliance need to realize that it may come down to a situation where one country may have to ally with Terra, and another with the NWO in order to survive.

Perhaps Luna isn't all of these things. But even if it isn't, it will give our stranded people a purpose. I'd rather be fighting from Israeli turf in defense of small nations than stuck on Slovenian soil.

Right now, with no freedom in sight, only one thing can keep our nation going: a purpose. Maybe Luna won't be able to hand back Romandie on a silver platter. But at the least, it's give us a light at the end of the tunnel.
