Critiques and Grievances

Ohayo, konichiwa, and konbanwa, everyone~

I've been called many things: clever, cute, a prick Canadian (you can just call me Canadian), and excellent as always, whatever that means. But usually, I don't try to stir the pot, rustle any feathers. There's enough trolls incompetently trying to raise actual concerns, but it's all lost behind their childish antics. You can't expect to be taken seriously when you're writing poorly and making illogical ramblings, can you? I don't feel like getting associated with that crowd. That's why I usually make objective statements, soundly based in logic. And besides, butthurt is a strong force, both for in-power players and the masses. I'm not stupid. If people already write me off as a hater and a fool, no one will take my message seriously, even if my points are concise and fair. Besides, I'm usually in the government. Any failure indirectly and directly comes back to me.

I get that.

But I have faith that if I put logic first, my point will shine through any anger I have. This is why I waited a few days first (and asked whether to rant about it). Yeah, you know it's bad when there' s a disclaimer.

Alright, first things first. Remember that this really isn't personal. I won't publicly admit to hating any of you, because that would mean compromising my role as the impartial subject. I don't think most of us mean to harm the nation in any aspect. Sometimes it's just misguided, and that happens to the best of us, besides me, of course. But honestly, the last few months (not just this one) have really irritated me, in my time of relative two-clickiness, since school is crap. I'm not powerhungry or anything (else this would be my shoi4CP article), but I do like to be in the know, and give my two cents. This isn't about my advice getting ignored or anything, or about stuff that doesn't go according to plan. But seriously, this year could have gone a lot better.

First off, to dear friends making joke NE proposals. I love trolling (I'm A-Level at the least), but you must understand when it's going too far. We're in an extremely precarious situation, as Spoland inch at our borders and we just got back from a piñata party at Estonia. It's really not the time for sabrerattling, especially when we have plans. Please, respect the process. It's just a game, but let us win. Long-term fun > short term lulz

Speaking of the Estonia debacle. Honestly, wtf was that. I get it, Canada wants war because we're all bloodthirsty tyrants, and Estonia is an easy target. I also get that TWO is super powerful, and maintained success wouldn't be easy. But I was losing hair by the minute watching it unfold. Let me explain.

The whole Argentina AS thing is no big deal, since it was just an accident. Drunk raves happen (I have some experience with damage control), and it's fine. It's even fine that we ended up striking on Christmas Eve, though frankly, don't sound it off as a brilliant strategy you knob ED 😛 Don't even start. You bloody fool!

Anyway, it went badly from the start. Unless I'm gravely mistaken, not only did our allies get no notification other than Asgard (I love Asgard but they weren't gonna beat TWO singlehandedly), we didn't even let our MUs know. On the allied front, some valuable help from Croatia and Finland could have given us those extra few points. I mean, mad props for sorting out the ordeal to even get us on the continent to begin with, and nearly winning a second, I won't hold that against us at all. But while I know that Croatia is cutting funds, even just a mention of the AS would have been great. Some sort of notification for our allies, you know? We can't expect them to drop everything to help us, can we? How we didn't have Finland as an MPP when we're primarily landing to save them is beyond me.

And another thing is COs. The fact that our MUs had no idea is even more troubling now that we need COs to have even the remote chance of victory. Our beloved Smokey was gone when we first landed, and that's alright. He may have the access to our national MU, but even if he's not around, with all those funds, it can be subverted if we tell our MUs, "Hey, we're gonna be hitting at blah blah time at blah blah place can we get an MU all up in this place?" TWO is strong, even without Poland's DO, which is eventually what happened. We need those COs to have a chance, and when the enemy isn't fully fighting for them, we need to take advantage. Remember, building up a high wall doesn't cost our CO anything. It's only for tight battles, and we needed them to turn the tide of such battles. That's why I was infuriated when we hit our second region with confusion about the time, and no CO set up. The first time, you didn't know, it's okay. We learn. But we can't let ourselves get swept in the first round when we have initiative and need to win to keep going. In hindsight, we should have opened up the RW ourselves in our primetime to limit the drain it would cause. That's my bad, since I didn't push the idea further. But c'monnnn, we need COs to win, to get merc damage. It's not a new feature. We've seen COs turn battles. I don't care if no one was online to get a CO up, you freaking wait, or get Asgard to set it up by throwing money at them.

As for other things, other than the airstrike, we haven't done anything. We threw all our eggs into one basket. If it works, you're a hero. If it doesn't, well, you're not. I know it's unfair for ED to get much criticism since he's the first in awhile to actually try anything bold and daring, but it would have been good to have a backup plan, and get something else done too.

And massive apologies to my beloved Dutch bros. And here is where I really rant. The other stuff is just a couple missteps and at most, a bit of incompetence stemming from inexperience. WTF ARE YOU PEOPLE DOING? I can't control the two-clickers, and no one can. Determination is high in our regions, and it'll be more difficult to hold the regions. That's annoying, but understandable. But you tanks and experienced vets, you guys know better. YOU KNOW BETTER. You know they're paying us money. You know they're a good friend and loyal compatriot. Why the hell are you screwing them over? Because we lost in Estonia? Then you should have tanked harder! Don't give me that 'if yew wantd Nerlands too stay than fite four them' crap. We were going to anyway! Why are you draining our own damage that we could be using to help an ally? And why are you draining damage to directly hinder not only the Dutch, but us? We look horrible for not being able to hold our end of a bargain. Don't even mention how we cut Dutch congress in half, we can't get our money now! Rental fees, all down the drain. And for what? A feeling of defiance that you stuck it to the man? 5 gold that you spent 1500 cc in tanks to get? It's pointless and inconceivable.

If you want to have our full nation back, that's fine. I like all 13 provinces just as much as you do (besides Alberta, cuz Alberta sucks). But instead of being a moronic halfwit, how about telling the gov, "We don't want to have the Dutch scum in our territory anymore! gtfooo"? We could have just told the Dutch to leave now that their congress is secure, and that would be that. Do you really think that being able to kick out a nation one-third our size is manly or patriotic? We couldn't beat Estonia, so consolation prize? No, of course not. Don't be stupid. You prove nothing to your countrymen and prove to foreigners that we're too dishonorable and weak to hold a simple land rental deal without a riot. You want another war? We could've given you another war. You want them to leave? I could've asked for their departure in a flash. This is just more irrational idiocy because you can't control your own tanks. And don't give me the whole ' then control us you prick' tale, cuz we shouldn't have to. If you have an issue, you bring it up like a civilized player who didn't just get his first farm and aluminum mine. Don't screw over the nation for your own pleasure, cuz if you do, you have no right to call yourself Canadian.

//endrant Okay I feel better. 😛

I'll be back with more uplifting stuff this year.
Coming soon: idea for les admins, and a project Mary-chan and I are working on.

And a special welcome back to Molly Jo, who freaking rocks like hell

Until next time, take care!
