Community update: Competitions, Awards and much much more!

Day 581, 08:15 Published in Ireland Ireland by The Irish Community

Sorry for the lull in Community Activity: the reason being giving everyone time to settle down after the trials and tribulations of last week. Now, full steam ahead!

Lottery:

No update has been received from GarretDA in relation to the lottery. I am awaiting further updates.

Awards:

Politician of the Month: Starks Hayter

A delayed recognition here for firmly putting his name on the eIreland political map, rewarded in the latest cabinet with the senior post of Minster for Finance and Industry, which he has performed admirably.

Soldier of the Month: Gráinne Ní Mháille

In a close run battle, I gave the casting vote to Gráinne. Wholly dedicated, Gráinne was not to be found wanting. She made sure her esteemed colleagues returned home safe from Estonia, and her quality of leadership during the UK-Ireland War crisis gives her the edge over the rest of the rest of our servicemen and women.

Publisher of the Month: Lord Rhindon

Has burst onto the scene with some remarkable pieces of writing. His wonderful penmanship is allied to a clear mind and a keen desire to prove himself. I have little doubt that he will, especially considering he was been appointed the new Minister for Information, replacing the ‘on vacation’ Theus Jackus. Subscribe to the Celtic Chronicle!

Employer of the Month: Unawarded

Don’t forget to make your nominations for these awards. Did one of your fellow soldiers take a bullet for you? Has a politician gone out of their way to help you with your concerns? Has any editor gave you goose bumps with their way with words? Has your employer made you feel like a valued employee? Let us take notice of the great and the good of eIreland by awarding them a Community Award!

P.S. Still no feedback on possible prizes and donations. 5 IEP? A piece of Q2 food? A weapon? A pat on the back? Let me know!

Competitions:

Here begins a series of competitions. Read on, and if you wish to enter, send a pm to the Irish Community Org (http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization/1534361) stating name of competition and your entry.

Submit a funny picture which describes something which has happened recently on eRepublik

The craziest and most original picture wins. I am expecting lots of photoshops to do with the fake war of last week!

University:

Experience has taught me it's useful to know things, and that it's handier to know something then to not know anything. So what are you waiting for?

Head over to the University and learn something useful! Here are the classes currently on offer:

International Diplomacy and Communication:

The primary purpose for this course is to provide you, whether you are a burgeoning international ambassador or a soldier being sent out on missions to foreign lands, with tools and knowledge that will allow you to converse and interact with citizens, governments and military establishments effectively and intelligently, anywhere in the world.

No, this isn’t a foreign language class. Well, maybe it is. In this class, you will begin to understand what drives the hearts, the passions and the politics of both the eRepublik world, and the world in Real Life, and you will learn how to communicate more effectively, even across language barriers.

eIrish History:

Erepublik launched on the 20th of November 2007. According to my findings the first citizen of Ireland was a person called Prem who founded a company with the Gold he got from signing up called General Hospital. For those that don't know the first 20 citizens of each country got 50 Gold to get the country running. Ireland according to Hattrick's Paper Ireland only just had 21 citizens by the end of November.

Two parties were founded in this month. Peace and good life founded by future President Hattrick and a mysterious Musktiers party that I have little data on. Though both parties were run by foreign nationals from the sounds of things.
