Day 2,748, 14:46 Published in Ireland Ireland by Anthony Colby
Warning: Wall of text ahead. Fancy pictures won’t get me elected.

Hello all. Thank you for reading.

Thanks to our Friends

The past few weeks have been rather exciting around here. We have had two MTO attempts against us by a MU calling itself the Irish Army. Well they are not the Irish Army. There is only ONE Irish Army and these bastards are not fit to call themselves Irish. They have spent two fortunes to try to take over our beloved Ireland and they failed both times.

They failed because they don’t have our determination, our spirit and most importantly our very good friends. We have spent years cultivating our friendships and that hard work paid off.

Thank you friends.

Now on the the campaign.

CABINET

I have filled some of the offices in my Cabinet.

Don Croatia has agreed to continue as Minister of Finance.

Nogin the Nog, Raven Anarcho, Mr. Tayto and moomoohead have all agreed to advise me in my duties. They are all people I trust implicitly.

I am also in discussions with Releasethe Krakken to also contribute.

I value hard work and intelligence. All of these people have shown these attributes. I also want people of different opinions, people who will tell me if an idea is nuts if they think so.

There are still positions to fill. If anyone wants to be part of the team send me a PM. I want people who want to be here.

IDEAS

One of my ideas was to enter into talks with close allies in order to set up a system where we could send our treasury to their nation like we did with the Netherlands in the first MTO attempt. We got lucky with the fact that there were several former Irish citizens in the government of the Netherlands that knew well. I figured an existing plan would save time if we needed it again. The agreement would work both ways.

With the current situation where a Dictator is being installed kind of lessens the threat at the moment but I think the idea may be a good one to offer to any of our allies that are not Dictatorships. I hope the Dail will discuss the idea and use it for whatever means even if I am not elected.

I also will insist that if possible all treaties, plans, or other actions that are not routine daily business will be voted on by the Dail. We all want what is best for Ireland. We all have different ideas as to how to do that. There have been instances where the executive branch has entered into agreements with other nations without addressing the Dail. While the game does not allow for a Cabinet under game mechanics that is how the game has evolved. So while there is no rules saying the Taoiseach has to inform the Dail I will insist that it is done during my term in office when possible.

There may be instances where time restraints don’t allow for addressing things before the fact but if it is at all possible I intend for the Dail to make the major decisions that affect us all. That is why any agreements that my Administration proposes will consider as many views as possible when they are being drafted.

As I mentioned above the game only allows for a CP and a Congress. Yes there are other offices but via game mechanics they are only titles. They only came about as a result of the players creating them and the Admins labeling them as an afterthought.

As the game has changed over the years the office of the CP has become the most powerful office. In most instances congresses across the eWorld are just deliberating bodies with no real power or position. Sure they can impeach a CP but in many instances that is not an ideal move as if they lose they can’t do it again for a time and if they win they may get someone worse. So while an option it is an option of last resort. Who is to say that this is the only way that we can organize our government? Why does it have to be this way? Well it doesn’t.

What I want to do is return some power to the Dail. How will I do this you ask?

My idea: Give the responsibilities of each Cabinet Ministry to a different political party.

OK. Now don’t freak out. That is not what will happen.

That was my original plan but after some consulting with fellow party members I realized that it was too big an idea to implement all at once. Some parties may not work well together enough or be active enough to handle the job. So I intend to try things out with two Ministries. The Ministry of Community and the Ministry of Immigration.

The Ministry of Community is a fun office. I should know. But I think a larger group of people can come up with even more ideas, run bigger contests, and make things more fun.

The Ministry of Immigration has been problematic of late. We have different ideas of who and how people should be given citizenship. Fair enough. We also have a secret service who has been checking up on potential citizens and other possible threats so the Immigration Ministry which used to handle these operations does not really need to anymore. So I propose that the Ministry of Immigration work to bring citizens to Ireland. I would like them to actively recruit citizens from other nations. And a large group of people, like a political party, can better do this than one person.

Now I know what you are thinking.

“If a party is getting people to come here they will get them to all join their party.”

Yes. That will probably happen. But only if they do a good job.

If they do then you better think about asking if your party can run Immigration next time.

Basically my plan would work out eventually that with parties running Ministries there would be competition between them. But competition that is not negative. With each Party driving a Ministry with different duties the only way you could gain an advantage would be to out perform them. So with the MoFA trying to out do the MoD then both would be doing as best of a job as they can. That can only be good for Ireland. Of course if a Party does a good job they may get new recruits as a result. People may want to go to a Party where they think good things are happening. This will also give some meaning to Dail elections also. With my plan to allow the Dail to vote on most big issues then getting the most people elected on election day is vital to getting your ideas through. How do you get more people elected? By doing a good job as a Ministry and getting more recruits that you can run.

Of course this is all hypothetical. First I have not won the election. Two even if I do I don’t plan to implement the plan but do a small trial run to see if things will work. I would also like to have the Dail discuss the idea also to tweak things. Lastly there is nothing to say that a future Taoiseach will follow the same idea. Each Taoiseach gets to organize their cabinet as they see fit. So a future government may just go back to the way we do things now. My hope is that this experiment may give a second option to how we do things here in Ireland. Or at the very least to spark some new ideas that also may make us stronger.

I will of course continue to update on the finalization of my Cabinet and other plans.

Thanks for reading.
