Beaver Action League (PP)
Majial
Hello again ladies and gentlemen,
I have decided to run for BAL PP (*snicker* peepee)
Over the last few months i've been trying to become more involved and educated on different aspects of the game and so far i feel i'm doing pretty well and i'm yet to destroy anyones hopes and dreams so i deem it a resounding success (so far).
Pictured : Success?
BAL has dropped 2 spots in the last few weeks we are now 5th , One of those spots was expected as soon as Rylde opened his brothel , I'm hoping to start a soul crushing and overall disappointing recruitment drive thru the power of articles and spam (not lots of messages , I speak of ham related bribes)
This could be all yours !
I hope to get BAL back up to what it was over the next month or so and to do that i need your help, Whether i win or lose the beavers need to get wet and wild , We need to show everyone we belong in the top 5 alongside (or even on top) of the big boys .
So please consider voting for me on the 15th , If not consider fighting like hell for our right to paaaarty.
Yours (in)sincerely
Majial !

What does the BAL stand for at this point?
Hot beaver-on-beaver action?
It'd be interesting to see what the results of a Canada-wide survey on that question would be for all parties:
"What does *😜arty* stand for in your view?"
Or at least it would make for an entertaining article, even if it didn't arrive at any conclusive results.
Damn fine coff...point.
So far the results haven't been too good but I'm hoping we might see something come out of it.
I'll be honest here each party stands for whatever the current leader stands for it's just never static.
That seems to currently be the case but it hasn't always been so.
Clan Wolf was anti-forum, as was the CPF at some point, if I'm not mistaken. They had another 5 o 6 tenets at one time, too.
MDP was pro-war and for strong leadership but didn't really do much to entrench the latter.
PFC was for the encouragement of bilingualism in Canada and the inclusion of the francophone minority in government.
I've never seen anything from the Imperial Party. I believe they started out as a joke party, much like BAL. With few other ideologies left to be claimed (Communism maybe?) they managed to secure their top-5 position without having to stand for anything.
Maybe we need a new Muppet Party to give them all a run for their money.
You'll make a fine PP!
Wow, you started aiming high.
My crystal ball is showing you as Canadian CP in the near future. \o/
First, I support anyone that takes the initiative to make something better.
Just to make my point of view clear. The BAL came together as a bunch of different people with different ideas who were fed up with the status quo. The central idea was to take care of business first. All the BS and poop slinging was driving us mad. Those problems are in the background now and we have new problems facing Canada.
> Canada needs leadership, not just in CP but PPs and Congress.
> Inactivity is rampant. If you want lazy people who don't do anything once elected I can come back.
> Congress BS has to stop.
1. The "No forum!" thing has to stop. You've proved my point, discussion and debate are paramount to achieving anything and PMs are not working.
2. Party Presidents have to man up, put people who do shit in Congress. I want to see more new people doing stuff, lets face it, not many old faces left. Still, shoving someone into a Congress slot that does no work is detrimental to our country.
3. Lazy ass citizens (of which I am one) need to step up and run for Congress if there are not enough n00bs that will actually do things. It don't take that long to do Congress. If we had a proper Whip you wouldn't even have to log onto the forum, he/she would tell you what's going on there. Then you could choose whether to debate but should always vote.
There seems to be little accountability anymore. People wonder aimlessly doing whatever they please with no apparent consequence. The actual consequence is that our country is going down hill.
I'm not sure that I like the idea of having people vote without participating in debates. Like you said, it doesn't take much to follow the discussions so even if they don't actively participate they should at least follow along. Voting how other people (the whip/PP) is voting isn't doing the job, in my opinion, and negates the accountability that I agree we should be striving for.
Also, pre-congrats on making it to level 200!

I'm just being realistic. If we can't get new people that will actually participate, in my opinion, it would be better to have old farts like me that would at least vote their mind. It would be best to debate and then vote but it would be at least tolerable to have someone vote from an informed opinion.
I was Whip for the US Congress several times (also several times a Congressman). The Whip's job is not to tell people how to vote. The Whip's job is to inform people of what's going on, provide links to important information and to announce votes in game. In that way a Congressperson who is busy in RL can be done in 5 minutes instead of hours digging through the forum.
I never brought it up before because I figured the point would be lost. I figure the reason most people don't like the forum is that they don't want to spend the time to dig though everything. A good Whip makes that job simple.
Honestly I'd prefer simply stuffing Congress with non-voting backbenchers who don't vote rather than those who vote blindly.
I get what you're saying - sometimes people are busy and if they're given the links they might read them. But at the same time if the expectation is that they vote no matter what then many may vote without looking, voting as others in their party have above them.
At this point we simply don't have enough players, young or old willing to take the time to candidate for Congress. Sure, it's sad, but it's time that we looked for place fillers - people who we can trust not to get in the way or let the bad ones in (though that would be easier if we brought back some sort of vetting procedure for immigrants).
Who knows who some of these Congressmen are and whether they've got ulterior reasons, other than simply earning a quick 5 gold, for running.
I've always supported forum and Congress activity and it is definitely something i'll be addressing along with giving new players a chance to get involved .
I think Chochi says it best here "Voting how other people (the whip/PP) is voting isn't doing the job, in my opinion, and negates the accountability that I agree we should be striving for." I believe peoples opinions and votes should be their own not just what they've been told or instructed to do , They should be able to vote how they feel is best regardless of how others view the situation.
We seem to have gotten to a point where people are voting in certain ways just to prove a point rather than to improve or fix things Congress is slowly (but surely) turning into an exercise in ego tbh.
That's actually Congress' default setting. 😛
Well that's just scary o.0
See my reply to Chochi above.
I agree, we need people that can actually think. I'm hoping that BAL can help turn the trend that way.
