An Interview with Ace451

Day 1,146, 12:23 Published in USA Canada by Thedillpickl

Hi kids!

This interview series is meant to inform more than entertain. OK now, settle down. We can still have fun with this. It won't be as bad as a 1950's film in science class. The eperson I'll be talking with started out just like you. We all did. I don't care how long they have been in the game. It's just that sometimes we forget where we came from. So today I'll be talking to Ace451 and we'll see how he got to where he is in the game. The goal here is to show what options are available in eRepublik and encourage you to be more than a 'two clicker'. For those who don't know what that is, trust me, you'll find out!

====================

Dill Welcome Ace, glad you could take time to be here. Before we get started, I personally would like to ask, 'Who are you in RL?'.

Ace I am the psychedelic reincarnation of Jim Morrison, as my avatar shows.

Dill OK then... I suppose we can guess your approximate age group.

Ace451 performing with The Doors, Frankfurt, Germany, 1968

Dill Why did you begin playing in eRepublik?

Ace Well, I never really had a reason to start this game, other than the fact that I was bored.

Dill What was the game like then, what does it do for you now?

Ace When I joined, it was during V1, and there was so much to learn about the game plus, the basic concept behind the game was intriguing, so I stuck around. As for what it does for me, provides a distraction for me from RL. Ironically, when I'm doing well in RL, I play this more, and when I'm feeling bad in RL, I tend to avoid playing. Kind of ironic, but what can I say? I'm a paradox.

Oh, I'm sorry you said paradox.

Dill What lead you to join Seal Team 6?

Ace I remember the first article I read was about Seal Team 6 and I thought to myself, wouldn't it be fun to be part of a community like that? Unfortunately, at the time, you had to pay membership fees, which as a newborn, I could never even hope to pay up for.

Dill How did you get involved in the military?

Ace I opted for the Training Corps, which I would recommend to any new players that read this, the Training Corps is a great place to get your feet wet in the eUS.

Dill I agree, I went through the TC and learned a lot. What are the advantages, for you personally, of belonging to Seal Team 6?

AceI get to wear the sexy avatar frame, although I definitely need to get more active in ST6, my RL is rather hectic atm.

Sexy's nice.

Dill What should a new player do to be active in the Military?

Ace If you're new to the game, the Training Corps is the way to go. They provide a nurturing, yet fun environment for their members. Their ranks are filled with both new and old players, allowing for experience and advice to spread to those who need it. Plus, they have a sleek and active forum, or at least they did when I was there. They also can provide food to their members to fight, which gets you to rank up faster.

I'm glad they're on our side!

Dill You have a paper, are active in the forums and you make comments to articles, how does that make game play interesting?

Ace The media is by far the most diverse and interesting aspect of this game. It allows for creative and intelligent players to flourish and develop, separating the good from the great. And after all, this is referred to as a SOCIAL game, so by not being involved socially, publishing articles, or commenting on them, you miss out on a good portion of the fun. And, let's face it, there isn't a whole lot of that to go around anymore.

Dill Actually, that's my favorite part of the game. So what's been your best and your worst experiance so far in game?

Ace Best experience so far... The first one is when my article on joining the eUS military got to #1 in the eUS Top 5 News, and the second one is when I hit 100 subscribers just several days ago. As for a worst experience, it would be when I was publishing a string of articles, yet no one seemed to be able to click the Vote button, that was a downer. I survived though.

Gotta love computer Bugs.

Dill What's your best memory in game?

Ace My best memory in-game would be a reply to the Training Corps daily orders thread. Someone said something about the Illuminati, the Boy Scouts, and the Justice League combining to form an unbeatable Triumvirate. You would have to have read the days order's to understand the joke. I can't say what they were because that would be a violation of OPSEC. Suffice to say I downed a bottle of Vicodin House-style to relieve the pain in my abdomen from laughing.

Dill Any special tips you want to pass on to new players?

Ace Read the papers, comment on them, make sure those comments aren't idiotic, get active in the eUS military, find a political party that you like and get active there as well. Save up some Gold and start a newspaper, get creative with it and put images in it, Americans can't concentrate if there aren't pictures to keep them interested. Other than that, I don't have much else. All I can do is steal the words of the great Ligtreb and say, "You get out of this game what you put into it."

Dill I can't thank you enough for taking the time to talk with us. It was a pleasure.

====================

Well there ya go. A member of Seal Team 6. A writer. A thinker. An all around nice guy.

We've said our piece. Now what do you think?
