America, This is your Country [Joe DaSmoe for CP]

Day 1,167, 12:13 Published in USA USA by Joe DaSmoe

Hello America.

With party primaries in full swing and ending soon, I humbly ask for members of all the top 5 parties to vote their conscience and I am grateful if that choice happens to be myself. I would also like to take the time to thank the smaller parties who have already nominated me or are considering me to run for President. I will do my best to serve the country well and openly if I am elected.

As many of you know, I have struggled to find a party that is truly fitting for me, especially within the top 5. I have finally found a home, a party that stands up for people and isn't afraid to speak its mind when wrongs are being dealt upon America's citizens.

This party is The Fraternity. We are a new small voice with big aspirations. I thank you fellas for nominating me and regardless of the outcome of these primaries I will do my best to grow the party so we can achieve greatness. One thing I have learned in my time here on eRepublik, It takes a group effort to truly achieve and together, we will do just that brothers. If you are new or old, vocal or silent, sick of the same old stuff and/or looking to become a part of something, we ask you to join our brotherhood. The Fraternity is unique as we have a true goal. We aim to better the game experience of our members and to help them achieve positions of influence if the operation of America, if you wish to be heard, we welcome you and will do our best as a party to grow our community and power.

Ok, party business aside, I would like to formally announce George Griffin as my pick for Vice President.

George is a fresh face and is energetic as hell. I absolutely love the guy's enthusiasm and optimism. Mr. Griffin aligns himself similarly to me in that he wishes to help end the status quot that has staled over America for far to long. He represents exactly what I mean when I use the phrase "fresh blood" Make no mistake about it, If I am elected the upper levels of government will be full of eager young players such as George.

I'm honored to have George along my side. I know that he will bring fire to the office and as well as keep me motivated. He will become my right hand man and assist me in the day to day operations of America. Thank you George, I'm glad to have you.

Moving on, I would like to further explain my intentions as Country President a bit.

I have had many question my "experience" on the executive levels of this game. While it is true that I am not part of the inner circle that currently holds power, my response is a simple one.

All it truly takes to be a great leader is informed decision making and good communication skills. That's it. I feel I possess the ability to be effective, and I will be effective if elected. This country has developed the perception that a President must be groomed by the inner circle of players to be a good President. While I know many of these players well, they themselves can attest to the fact that I am my own man. As I have said, I feel the need for "grooming" candidates is a bit overdone and I feel that anyone motivated enough can give the President position one hell of a go. This game is, after all, merely communication via typing. Lets be honest about it here. So long as the PotUS and his cabinet are active, fresh and eager to communicate, the rest takes care of itself.

I wish to also allude to the well known fact that I wish to see a lowering of taxes on America's citizens. We pay the highest taxes in the game, this needs to change. Do I wish to gut the budget, no. Do I wish to weaken our military, absolutely not. What I hope to do is strike a balance that is fair for our country and allows us to maintain military strength. I will work with my Economic Council and the Joint Chiefs to try and do just that. The bottom line is still this however, taxation is up to the will of our Congress. I do feel that the President's voice carries weight in the Halls of Congress however, and rest assured I will be vocal.

Finally my past. I have ruffled many feathers in the past. I have been outspoken and have never hesitated to speak my mind. I have gotten mad, left for Canada, "raged against the machine" that is the upper levels of our society, and made a few enemies along the way. All that said, I make no apologies. Do I wish I would have approached a few things differently, to be frank yes. I still stand firm in my beliefs however and wouldn't change a thing, I have no regrets. People know where I stand and that's the way I like, thats the way it should be. I'm a passionate guy in any undertaking I assume and it bleeds through in my personality here in eRepublik as Joe. In the end all my past experiences have further cemented the idea behind a an "online America" and shown me that there is no other place in this game for me than The United States. I cant deny it, I LOVE MY COUNTRY literally in game and real life. A lot of people like to label me as a Populist, so if being open, honest, passionate and straightforward causes me to be perceived as that, that is fine by me.

Remember America, this YOUR country after all.

Thanks for your support,
