Advanced Mathematics - Calculating Discounts
NLSP
Welcome to this crash course in advanced mathematics.
Today we are going to discuss "How to calculate a discount", it is quite difficult so please keep your attention.
So imagine that you are a very hard-training soldier and you train every day. It is generally known that the prices for training are the following
It will cost you 2.87 gold to train.
Sometimes life is good and you can "buy" yourself a "discount".
So, you have 3 options to chose from: Not buying a contract, buying the -50% contract and buying the -90% contract.
Since buying the -50% contract is not cost-effective (you will have to believe me here, this is way too complex to explain for even an advanced mathematics course), you are only interested in the -90% contract.
You might wonder now: How much does this cost then?
Well, let's calculate for each training grounds the price you pay then. With a 90% discount, you only have to pay 10% anymore. This is quite sophisticated mathematics: 100% - 90% = 10%
Weights Room: original price is 0 gold, but with a 90% discount you only have to pay 0 gold.
Climbing Center: original price is 0.19 gold, but with a 90% discount you only have to pay 0.019 gold.
Shooting Range: original price is 0.89 gold, but with a 90% discount you only have to pay 0.089 gold.
Special Forces Center: original price is 1.79 gold, but with a 90% discount you only have to pay 0.179 gold.
So, if you train in all 4 training facilities, it will cost you 0.287 gold with the 90% discount
You see what happened? The price is divided by 10
Now, assume that for some reasons, like an MU Tournament, you won a -99% contract. You might want to check if you actually receive a 99% discount. Let's calculate the price you SHOULD be paying then.
With a 99% discount, you only have to pay 1% anymore. This is even more sophisticated mathematics: 100% - 99% = 1%
Weights Room: original price is 0 gold, but with a 99% discount you only have to pay 0 gold.
Climbing Center: original price is 0.19 gold, but with a 99% discount you only have to pay 0.0019 gold.
Shooting Range: original price is 0.89 gold, but with a 99% discount you only have to pay 0.0089 gold.
Special Forces Center: original price is 1.79 gold, but with a 99% discount you only have to pay 0.0179 gold.
So, if you train in all 4 training facilities, it will cost you 0.0287 gold with the 99% discount.
You see what happened? The price is dived by 100
So if you should receive the 99% discount, check your training grounds and look for yourself: Have you received it?

You are giving Plato a headache with all this math stuff!
inbe4deleted,
2+2 = 4
huehuehue
but but, if Plato says that two plus two equals five, it has to be true, right?
ofc Pato is always right ...
Maths before I had my coffee? You meaniehead!
The clue is that at the end you loose gold (except if you won the contract). With all 3 extra power ups you win 2 times the stenght bonus of 5 gold (in 30 days). Even with all 3 maxed out you get each 3.5 days the bonus which makes 45 gold while the contract to buy is more then 50 (this is for a 99% one)
Depending on your configuration of training facilities, there are indeed cases where a contract is not beneficial. This article was not to calculate what is the best contract to buy, but to show that the difference between 90% and 99% discount is not exactly 'rocket science'.
The fact that when the community reported that there was still an error with the training contract, an eRepublik representative asked us if we were sure about it, implying either that they thought we didn't know the difference or that eRepublik staff actually doesn't know the difference was the trigger for this article.
Honestly, I'm quite tired of the #admincompetence that we see ...
50% contract can be useful when using just training ground 4 (or 1 and 4) OR just training grounds 2 and 4 (or 1, 2 and 4) as can be seen (a lot more clearly) by the following spreadsheet

UNBELIEVEABLE, IM PAYING 0.029!!!
if you think dividing by 10 or 100 is advanced maths, you'll never be able to sit a maths degree .. roflmfao
