A Semi-Serious Message from Jude Conners
Jude Conners
Hi, I'm Jude Conners... and I'd like to talk to you for a moment about diabeetus. You may or may not have noticed that I have been inactive for about a month now. Yesterday, I stepped down from my last real active role - Commander of Bear Cavalry. It was the last real responsibility I had left here. Now I can quietly sit back and rock on as a 2-Clicker for awhile.
As I said, I have been p inactive lately. About two weeks into my first Congress term in over a year (maybe two years), I started getting very tired. I had no energy and the little bit I had was spent taking a leak or drinking more water. It was bad, bro... so I went and seen the doctor. Yup. I had caught the diabeetus. And lemme tell ya something, Walter Brimley is right.
Anyway, my blood sugar was high enough to make even Pfeiffer seem sweet - 721. I shoulda been in a coma they told me. I was given IV fluids and some fast acting insulin and told to keep drinking my ice water. If they couldn't get my blood sugar down, I was going to be admitted into the hospital ICU. Las mierda esta no bueno, amigos.
Luckily, my sugar dropped to a tad under 400 and I was released. In addition to the insulin and Metformin, I have changed my diet considerably and started to exercise more. With getting outside more to walk and exercise, I have made significant cuts to my interwebz playtime. This means, 2 Clicking until I either eventually e-die or I make more time for eRepublik again.
Either way, you won't be seeing too much of me here, or in the eRep forums. I'll still be around RadioStar.FM, pumping out tunes every Friday night... but that (and Minecraft) are p much the extent of my online time.
It was awesome to be active again, and I hope you enjoyed me playing here. I might be active again someday soon-ish, but prolly not. At least, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Anyway, it's been your pleasure.
Listen to the Magic Carpet Ride with Jude Connors - LIVE every Friday Night 20:00-23:00 eRepublik time on RadioStar.FM. You'll be glad you did!

jesus man, glad you're ok!!!
Take care of yourself I has been a blast! Hope to see you back one of these days!
Marijuana is not a cure for Diabetes. Now, we know. ; )
I hope that you get well soon.
Take care of yourself in RL!
Cheers
It's hard to take comments these days 😛
I wish you well mate 🙂
I'm against diabetes.
It sucks, My father has it so that means my brother and I are at high risk of getting it... Damn food, why are you so tasty.. Lucky for us we have high cholesterol instead of high sugar..not saying one is worse than the other
At least you are on pills instead of shots.. those are not fun at all. Sitting home all day and sitting all day at work is not going to help.. At least you are walking more. It doesn't have to be strenuous activity but it has to be some activity to get your entire body moving. Walking a mile or 2 a day does wonders, even if its just a stroll. The sun is good for you!
I have a professor who stopped taking medicine all because he exercises daily, either mall walking or parking very far on the teachers lot. He also watches what he eats, only going for healthier stuff and no sugary stuff.
There is light at the end of the tunnel, you just got to get into good habits and keep it. Once you get out of diabetes you can be a little more flexible with your life. Once you get out of it doesn't mean you go back to your bad habits, it becomes a reminder for you to remain in check once and a while.
I shoot myself with insulin twice daily.
Well, it is hard finding out for the first time. Hopefully with your changes in diet and exercise you will move away from the insulin shot and stick directly to pills to manage. Once you get pills only you can eventually get off it, with a well enough diet.
My father hated shots and needles. Testing blood sugar before every meal also sucked.. At least he prefer blood sugar test to insulin needles. I think they gave him 2 kinds of medication pills instead.. Anyways, I cringe every time the doctor goes. " Oh looks like you are due for a shot." Not a big fan of stuff poking into you...

All bad news this days.
You are aware that you have to change some things if you want to get yourself in better condition.
Please find some strength and do so.
You must have missed this part: "In addition to the insulin and Metformin, I have changed my diet considerably and started to exercise more. With getting outside more to walk and exercise, I have made significant cuts to my interwebz playtime. This means, 2 Clicking until I either eventually e-die or I make more time for eRepublik again."

Diabeetus is a harsh condition, I have a nephew who has to wear an insulin pump; good luck and take care of yourself....
😛ipe:
i have the diabeetus. if you need advice or someone to talk to, drop me a PM
I'm confident you can get this under control. Rock on brother Jude.
Prayers brother. Keep on keeping on. My mind went to my beer drinking...scary stuff. But you'll get it managed.
Is it T1 or T2?
T2 quite obviously, otherwise exercising more wouldn't help, would it?
