A New Year A Stronger Ireland.

Day 1,503, 18:17 Published in Ireland Ireland by Anthony Colby

Hello everybody. I hope everyone had a safe and fun New Years Eve and that everyone is recovered from the celebrations. Well at least recovered enough to read my article.

New Years is always a time for reflection of the past and a looking towards the possibilities of tomorrow. So let's do a little of that shall we.

Things were so bad we fed our children coal.

When I first arrived on the shores of the Emerald eIsle Ireland was a very different place than it is today. Back on day 798 Ireland was a nation of peace. We belonged to no alliance at all and wars were unheard of. Yes we sent soldiers off to fight around the world but no direct Irish involvement. In fact the army was the IDF, the Irish Defense Force. It was for our defense.

And get this, the eUK was our friend. Yes you heard me new players, the eUK was our friend.

Our economy was nothing to be proud of either. We produced some of what we needed but it was never enough.

But as time went on things changed.

Ireland joined the big boys.

The Ireland of today is a vastly different place than the one I joined oh so long ago. We have had a total change of mind about playing eRep. Ireland used to be a place that could not choose which side to join in the game of statecraft. Not anymore. We picked a side.

We joined EDEN.

We picked a side and stuck with them through thick and thin. Our fellow allies became friends. We earned respect around the world and now we are part of something bigger than just Ireland. While not a major military powerhouse due to our size we often fight above our weight class and win. We have had some setbacks such as getting wiped a few times but we always come back.

We have built up our economy also. We produce much more and higher quality goods than before. We supply our military and our MUs regularly. Of course there could always be more but we have done very good for ourselves.

Several reorganizations of the old IDF into the Irish Army (IA) have boosted our response time to events around the world and have helped keep our presence on the battlefield a positive one.

So as 2012 begins I only see good things for the future. There is some work that needs to be done. We still have our share of infighting and a lot of political parties for such a small country but we are growing. Growing stronger militarily and economically. We are also growing as a community. When times call for it we put aside our differences and do what is right for Ireland. We are not afraid to take chances and should never stop doing so.

I see good things for the next year. Let's make sure they come about.

Thanks for listening.

Anthony Colby.
