[WRP] - A brief summary of our history

Day 1,922, 09:39 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Huey George
Introduction

I've been meaning to capture the history of the Workers’ Rights Party (WRP) for while and inspired by recent additions to the party I've decided to try write an article which briefly describes the party's founding, history and high-lighting our most notable members.

Disclaimer - I've not taken comprehensive notes during my time in the WRP, most of this article is based on what my memory can recall and I can verify using information stored in the new world's various archives. It's also very much for WRP members or citizens interested in the WRP, not a recommended read for everyone. Saying all that, if you still reading I hope you'll enjoy yourself as you come for a journey over time.

Founding

Day 1,487 of the New World, the final four members of the Socialist Party voted to reform the party as the Workers’ Rights Party (WRP). The principle co-founding members were Huey George, the Party President at the time and Party member JoeMurphy. Astrid Fairweather and Polish Jam were also among the inaugural members of the WRP. The change was not a revolution however evolution as many of the Socialist Party’s principles were key founding principles of the Workers’ Rights Party.

First "Official" Logo of the Party - chosen by a poll of party members

Notable Member – JoeMurphy (Co-Founder)

In his own words a “Supplier of weapons to the market at low prices. Produced by International Weapons Exports companies.” JoeMurphy was fine economic focused citizen, owner of the International Weapons Exports companies, who also fulfilled the “unofficial” role of Deputy Party President (in the days before the “official” role of Vice President) in an admirable manner advising on the party’s policies, branding and recruitment. No longer a citizen of the “New World” this article will hopefully ensure his contribution to the Workers Rights Party isn’t forgotten.

Notable Member – Huey George (Co-Founder)

It’s hard to write about yourself as a “notable” member, however here is goes;

Nine-time Party President and Six-time Deputy Party President/Vice President of the Workers’ Rights Party. Huey George was the first WRP member to have a chance to represent the party in Congress(Parliament) during two-term stint (Thanks to New Era and UKPP) . Founder and Commander of the Free British Irregulars, the proud fighting arm of the Workers' Rights Party; Owner, Press Director & Editor of The Daily eWorker “Proud supporter of the eUK's Workers' Rights Party and its military unit the Free British Irregulars.” and Long-standing “steward” of the Workers’ Rights Party’s involved in many party aspects.

Early Days and Forging our path

Early recruitment poster

The early days from the founding of the Workers' Rights Party mainly focused on recruitment and policy development. Our ethos of "We want as many citizens as possible to have a say in how the country is run. We trust the people tempered by prudence, this separates us from a lot of the other parties of the eUK who dis-trust the people tempered by fear. At the heart of our party is fairness, free-thinking and creativity." was established very early. Members Chaos Reaper and 123Wes who'd later play a key role in the party joined. During the early days the Workers' Rights Party also supported the CP campaigns of Kravenn (TUP) Jan '12, swiftykid (Dharma Initiative) Mar '12, Stefan1992 (Dharma Initiative) Apr '12, jamesw (ESO), Jun '12 including "free votes" in Feb '12 and May '12 although all CP elections are free votes as our official support is just an indication of the "will" of the majority of the party.

Notable Member – 123Wes

Another fine economic focused citizen however also a member of the British Foreign Legion. 123Wes kept a relatively low public profile however briefly fulfilled the role of Deputy Party President and was a great support to many WRP members and a great policy adviser to the party. Like JoeMurphy, 123Wes is no longer a citizen of the “New World” this article will hopefully ensure his contribution to the Workers Rights Party isn't forgotten.

Notable Member – Chaos Reaper

Two-time Party President, Chaos Reaper reluctantly stepped up to lead the party thus allowing myself, Huey George, to run for Congress(Parliament) despite being a reluctant "leader" of the party, Chaos was an absolute fantastic steward of the party able to offer wise consul, support to members and ensure the party's reputation was maintained and enhanced. Technical issues with his access to the new world has meant Chaos has had to step away from a prominent position in the party however remains 2nd Commander of the Free British Irregulars.

A change in leadership and an increased visibility in eUK politics

In the July '12 the Workers Rights Party took an important first step by proposing myself, Huey George, as a candidate for country president breaking away from the supportive role the party had been playing. The WRP obtained 4.78% of the total vote, finishing 4th and obtaining over 6 times our party membership at the time of votes. As a party we also introduced a new logo and more consistent branding. Important party member myheadstone also joined the party during this period of the party's history.

A version of the second "Official" logo of the party

The Workers' Rights Party returned to supporting CP campaigns after a party vote, supporting bamber's (PCP) in Aug '12 and a "free vote" followed in Sept '12. This was followed by an important internal change in the party which saw Chaos Reaper become the Party President ending mine, Huey George's 9 consecutive terms. This handover in power allowed me, Huey George to run for Congress(Parliament) with the ESO in Sept '12. Once again the WRP ran independently for CP proposing myself, Huey George as a candidate in Oct '12 and obtaining 19.08% of the vote and finishing 2nd a fantastic result considering the size of the party membership.

On day 1,781 The Free British Irregulars are founded. The Military Unit "fights for freedom, fairness and justice, we fight for the United Kingdom and her allies. Although the proud fighting arm of the Workers' Rights Party we will accept any man or woman who uphold our ideals" The military unit was founded to give party members and others a chance to hold important roles in a friendly, relaxed, creative and community orientated military unit.

When the official party roles of Vice President, Secretary General, Councillor and Spokesman were introduced. On Day 1,822 myheadstone became the third citizen to hold the position on Party President of the Workers' Rights Party. During his three-term stewardship of the party, he oversees me, Huey George being elected as a member of Congress(Parliament) with the support of New Era in Nov '12, The WRP's first seat in Congress(Parliament) and retaining a seat in Dec 'l2 with the support of the UKPP. The WRP also retain a seat in Congress(Parliament) into Jan '13 however this time WRP's excellent spokesman FightAndProduce holds it. The WRP support UKPP's CP candidates BigAnt's (Dec'12 and Jan'13) and Richard Feist (Feb '12) successful campaigns. FightAndProduce also joins the party during myheadstone's time as Party President, he will go on to fill important roles in the party.

Internally in the party, the memberships decided to appoint Freebairn as the party's first spokesman although he was shortly replaced by FightAndProduce. Warmaster Horus Lupercal was the party's first Secretary General.

Finally as of Day 1,914 FightAndProduce began his inaugural term as Party President. So far FightAndProduce has appointed Jamie2721 as Secretary General to replace Warmaster Horus Lupercal and overseen the party's adoption of a new logo, banners and branding. FightAndProduce has also improved relationships with a number of other eUK parties, introduced new policies, improved the WRP's community and communication.

Notable Membermyheadstone

A proud member of the Workers' Rights Party and three time Party President, myheadstone has been a fantastic steward and vital keystone to the party's success. myheadstone was also the party's first official councilor, a position he still holds today. Involved with many aspect of the party, the Workers' Rights Party would not be the community and the party it is today without myheadstone commitment, wise counsel and loyalty. myheadstone is currently a 2nd Commander of the Free British Irregulars and was a long standing and first Captain of the 1st Regiment of the Free British Irregulars. myheadstone continues to be a vital member of the Workers' Rights Party to this day.

Notable Member - FightAndProduce

Only a relatively new citizen to the new world, FightAndProduce has had a major impact of the Workers' Rights Party and the eUK becoming the fourth citizen to become Party President, Captain of the 1st regiment of the Free British Irregulars. A three term party spokesman. FightAndProduce has also become only the 2nd WRP member to hold a seat in Congress(Parliament) thanks to the UKPP. He is also the Press Director of the Workers Voice a newspaper which is of constant support to the party and insightful. Outside the WRP community his is a two time eUK Ambassador to eIndonesia, two time member of the Ministry of Health, and one time Deputy Ministry Of Foreign Affairs. There is a lot more to come from this promising citizen.
