Dear fellow eDutchmen/women,
As you know, read or heard whispering in the halls of eNetherlands, I am running for presidency these elections. For quite some time I have ignored the many requests that people sent my way, but this time it is time to stand up and aid eNL yet again.
The Big Picture
What are we here for? The answer is shockingly simple, FUN and GAMING EXPERIENCE.
In my opinion, several big elements lead to enhancing this fun and gaming experience. These are ACTIVITY, PLAYER BASE, STRENGHT and WAR. Oversimplified, activity leads to a larger player base which in turn leads to our eNations ‘strength’ which improves our battlefield capabilities which in turn leads to, yes, activity.
This circle has to start moving, as circles are supposed to. Take an element out, and the wheel stops turning. Several other erepublik concepts INFLUENCE these elements. To name a few: Media, (don’t laugh)Economy, Immigration, Player retention, Knowledge (X/S), Allies, MPP’s and Friends.
Below you will see a graphical image of this wheel (in blue) and some other main concepts (in orange) that I believe in. Also, for reasons of making a point I placed several ministries in the picture to show on what button’s they are (or SHOULD be) pushing, in order to strengthen this framework and make the wheel spin and hum.
Based on this, I shall now point out the main focus of my term:
Population / player base
My government will actively work on our player base. This means focus on player retention, through education and coaching, as well as better economic perspectives for our young. Naturally, I am very pleased with the results that have been achieved recently in the Finance field, so I will not make many changes there. In the recruitment / immigration field I strongly disagree with recent governments. Some of them even had a no-immigration policy. This is a bad thing. We need to add new, fresh players to our nation. Fresh players bring fresh ideas and add strength that we need so badly. Naturally, MoHA will have to filter out the national security concerns, other than that I want to open the doors much wider.
Strength:
Many many things have been achieved in the field of strength. X/S has contributed a great deal, as well as the TG subsidies and the current supplies system. We will continue to work on this, through the Ministries of Coaching and X/S
More War:
The rationale behind this is simple, look at the wheel. War => Activity. We have had some pacifistic governments lately, giving our regions away to stronger invaders like its candy. Wasting a good war in the process. As a result of this many soldiers die, emigrate to countries that do fight for their soil or disappear. Will we start blind wars with eHungary or our neighbors? Ofcourse not! But going for months without a coordinated RW is NO option. My team will work on a war related activity preferably every weekend. We will actively work on joining a good alliance, work on creating one or turning one around. Alone we cannot do it, but we have demonstrated we can pack a punch when its needed. For example the succesful Norway campaign that we engineered some time back. Many of the clever people behind this you will see back on my team. I have also gathered some extremely experienced Foreign Affairs maestro's that will work on this. I will also start a discussion in Congress on having semi-permanent MPP’s with our focus countries. Yes this is costly, but the discussion is not about the costs alone, also about the benefits. And its about time we start talking about the benefits. Naturally, this is a decision for us all to make, not for me.
Activity:
Besides blue elements from the wheel, several other concepts influence activity. Our main tools will be MEDIA, hence demonstrating the huge responsibility for our Ministry of Information, and potentially Entertainment. All ministries will be asked to (re)post articles that can be read by our new players. Naturally theres endless potential for activities from MoD (this is why I organized strikes, drills and such when I was in DAF and or MoD), MoFA, MoRC, MoHA etc.
Above I laid out the key elements of my term. We all know erepublik can change overnight, alliances come and go. What really matters is flexibility to respond swiftly to matters (as we did with the dictator update) and a belief in ourselves.
Fellow countrymen, we CAN do it. Let’s get this wheel turning together. Let’s assume our rightful place on the international table.
We can rise above ourselves, and certainly above what some want to make you believe!
I will be your servant this month, and as always I will not let you down.
Also, I would like to wish the fellow candidates best of luck in the elections.

There is a difference between being a pacifistic and a realist. You can constantly fight or you can do it the smart way and use diplomacy. Fighting constantly won't get you anywhere you need to play it smart, we're a small country and not that strong.

This is typical REL rhetoric based on nothing. REL keeps saying that war will cause more activity. That might be the cause but the the rise in activity isn't as big as REL is suggesting it is. It is only a very small group of people who are more active and the activity. Having war isn't a solution People leave that happens everywhere, I've seen articles claiming that people left or died because of the lack of activity but without any proof that this was the case. People leave for other countries, leave the game for a multitude of reasons. Even in countries that has constant wars people leave the country and the game. This is a global phenomenon that the user base of Erepublik is getting smaller and smaller it was nothing to do with the lack of wars and/or activity in eNL.

We have a contract with Hungary, this means we cannot do coordinated Resistance Wars. If we do we break the contract and that possible means losing even more regions if we piss Hungary and lose all our regions like we have with Poland.

are we realistic enough to see that Hungary is stronger? Yes ofcourse we are. But dont forget that it was an I&W government that gave our regions away without consulting Congress or the population. So dont be surprised that there are other viewpoints in the political spectre.
The people are clever enough to see that with your government we organize no wars, no training wars, no resistance wars, nothing. In casu you impeached a government over a training war / request from an ally. We respectfully call that pacifistic rather than realistic. This is a good thing tho, it gives the people something to choose. And so the people always win.
Bottom line, we still dont have regions even with your party's 'realism'. And in our opinion we sold too much of our dignity in the process.

When did we give our regions away? Hungary attacked us and there wasn't much we could do, Portugal Airstriked us and there wasn't much we realistically could do about it. How should I have consulted congress or the population in either ways?

No, she wasn't impeached because of the TW, she was impeached because of not informing congress and ignoring a congress vote that rejected this war. Strange that you accuse I&W of not consulting congress or the population but you use the case of Gen. del la Rey who got impeached for exactly that.

Selling our dignity is nothing more nationalistic rhetoric. We're a small country and small countries will always be used by bigger countries that is how it is. You can act all high and mighty about us being without our regions fighting won't get us our regions back, Diplomacy is the solution on the the chances of us regaining our regions on the battle field is neglectable.

One month you impeach GDLR for THAT, and the less than 4 weeks later you do exactly the same. And we are not supposed to frown then?
Dont forget this is the only true order of those two events, not the other way round.

How have I done the exact same thing? I did not start a war? We got attacked that is a huge difference. I have informed congress and the public.
it will be wonderful election for the people with some real choices to make. Balance helping an ally on request against giving away half our country to a hostile nation. Both without congressional approval. I know which choice I would make. Yours is also clear.
But dont forget theres other points to base your decision on. In case you are still in doubt 😉

Ok, so we get attacked? How is that giving away half our country? How or why do I need to ask congressional approval? It's an attack by an enemy country. Sorry but are you really that dense? Do you really do not understand the difference? It's all good rhetoric attacking the opposite side but if you do so at least try to be fair and don't come with these kind of things. You know damn well that There is a huge difference between what GdlR did and what I did.

Now, lets not get carried further away in petty quarrels. We know we dont agree with eachother on this matter. Thats perfectly fine. Its well known.

There is no such rule that you need congress approval if we deviate from not defending our regions. You are now officially just making things up but if that is how you want to play it by making things up then sure do what you think you need to do to win these elections by uttering utter lies and making things up.
This has done so many times not just me both me, previous government and not just I&W but many party current and past. It can be a tactical decision to not defend. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to defend, in this case even if we spend all our money we would still have lost. They are stronger on their own, they have 15+ MPP's. What would you suggested we done? Instead of just attacking me and I&W come with actually solution and answers. What would you have done? Would you have defended and spend all out money and still have lost?
First of all, i meant a moral duty. Not one by law. . I thought that was obvious. Secondly dont try to put words in my mouth like 'spending all and still losing' when you above all people know that we dont spend any money without congress. I merely hinted at the idea that theres a time for fighting and a time for negotiating.
Im still a bit puzzled on how u missed my point and ask me how to win a war against a bigger opponent with 15 mpps when its your own party that is against immigration and doesnt seem to want to 'waste money on MPPs' doesnt that make your question somewhat rethoric?
immigration doesn't double our country overnight. also take some lessons from other countries that have more "open" immigration policies. they are f'd up.

What do you think that last government has been doing? We've been working hard on alliances. But it's not as easy. Some people on the forum suggested let's just join x alliance just because we'll be in an alliance. That is how we got in Banana alliance basically. You can't just join an alliance especially since we're a small country it's not that easy. I do applaud you keeping on with the efforts with joining an alliance.

Semi permanent MPP what does that mean? In the current situation with most countries having barely any wars MPP's are even more a waste of money then before. You also say there are benefits but you do not say what those benefits actually are. There aren't any benefits that warrants the cost of a MPP imho.
Thats correct, in your opinion there arent. But lets for the sake of argument say that I dont have an opinion on it. Im going to start a discussion to see what other people think about it. Thats the point of a discussion, I think. But if you dont see the relation between no immigration, no MPP's and no alliance and no regions...well...
In fact, im not asking that you agree with me. Difference of opinion is good. Let the people decide and discuss.

You're making associations that isn't there. Immigration isn't a solution to our activity or a thing that will significantly grow our community. It is nothing more than a drop in the ocean, you will never grow our community in any way that matters. MPP do not matter that much, it's about relationship with countries having a MPP is only a very small part of this. It's about helping our allies that is more important than having a MPP or not. As for alliances, we have enough allies joining an alliance is more complicated like I already explained.
Sure, if you let in 20 Croats you're bound to end up with MPP's. But also with a PTO.
I dont think i said to be in favor of letting random people in. I think I specifically mentioned the national security check for those that read the story.
I also didnt mean to focus on immigration alone, but more as a part of a general approach to politics. More open, more active. Less exclusive and frightened.
Nice wheel. I didn't find the time to have a real good look but one remark popped up immediately; Why does the MoD have no relation with MPP's?
I'd say MoD should be even more involved in that than MoFa is as MPP's is mainly about fighting strategy. For us, given our budget, MPP's can't be used as signs of friendship or alliance worthiness as some say they are needed for. For us it really is about fighting.
And yes; At this point it is rather useless to sign MPP's. It is most of the time. As long as we don't have active fights MPP's are useless. People should simply find a country with a high number of MPP's.
actually the relation is clearly there but is one of the arrows I sacrificed for readability. The rationale is that I saw MoD more as a consumer of the MPP's and in my memory its mostly CP/MoFA initiating or selecting the MPP's. But you have a point, clearly.
