[The] Fortune (republished for Kami)

Day 2,448, 12:59 Published in Canada Canada by Mary Chan

'Twas a day Fortune smiled bittersweetly
once more I found her will was upon me.

As Fortune finds favour, fate has chosen,
The bold found favour, the bold was chosen.
But he was impatient and would not wait,
He left, he set, to find, to satiate.

So Fortune forced a smile, bittersweetly.

She waited the day, and slept through the night,
To pass from that morning's unpleasant sight.

Woken to her morn-- his night's remainder,
A shallow encounter: Fortune and bold.

'Tis the bold's return, he asked for quarter--
Quite an unusual request from him,
Only Fortune he would ask, no other.
For it was Fortune he wanted to hold,
Because there are no others for the Bold.

Another apology accepted,
A response barely sighed. And so she wrote
Of these events in attempt of rhyme, in
Iambic Pentameter she replied.
