[TDBM] Cordis Die - InsaneSkills Interviews Umbra Bellator

Day 2,335, 12:05 Published in Canada Canada by crisfire

- Tell us something about yourself in real life.

I am a RL Canadian, living in Toronto and raised just north of the city. I play a number of sports throughout the year, but not ice hockey. Which I know is weird because it is our game, that we dominate… just never figured out the stopping on skates bit. I’ve been doing semi-competitive archery for a few years, I find it really calming and it just clears my mind. I am a car enthusiast, and I am slowly working on my mechanical skills. I am currently rebuilding my ’76 Stingrays 350 motor with my dad. I walk 5 minutes to work everyday which all of my friends hate, because they all have shitty commutes. I am also able take my 2yr old Rotti in at least once a week. (she is cooler than Onyx) Otherwise I just go home for lunch and walk her then.

- You do so many things, does it mean you are hesitating to give yourself fully to one thing?

If you mean am I a bachelor living it up... hardly I’ve been with my GF for 10 years this year and we are working on a budget for a wedding... no surprise after that much dating really.

- We wish you many happy years. Maybe you can bring here to play eRep and it will be one more thing that you will have together to do 😛

How did you come to eRepublik and when was your first time to hear about it?

I was playing an online sports simulator game and I got a msg with the referral URL, I checked it out read the wiki, etc but didn’t sign up right away. I think I came back a couple of weeks later and signed up. (sorry to whoever should have gotten my referral, Plato owes you a whole lot of gold.

- Where did you come up with your in game name?

My first name was Sm1tty which is my usual screen name for online games/forums. When I was running an MU with Pat Harper he decided to change the name to Shadow Fox, and I was looking for a new Avatar and found this one. I thought I should have a name to go along with it to. Umbra Bellator is Latin for Shadow Warrior, I chose that because at the time I was beginning to focus on tanking (as well as running the MU w/ Pat Hatper).

- With so many medals shining, you are only missing 3 of them: country president, society builder and top fighter. With top fighter you need "only" 9 days to get it, so you are working on it, but what about other 2? Have any plans for them?

Top Fighter is next on the list after Titan* and really would like to add that to the collection. I am working on Society builder every now and again, I have gotten 5 players to join and get to lvl 10 but only 1 stuck around (Sgt Schwimm) I send out msgs to people on forums and other online spaces but no bites in a bit. As far as the CP medal, I don’t have any plans for it as of now. I am mainly sticking to making my presence felt on the battlefields and I still have lots of work to do there.

- How do you manage to get all those cool decorations? What is your secret?

They are so Shiny! A lot of the earlier ones were a result of Gold Buying. The rest I like to think are from a combination of good infrastructure and using as much energy as possible during the day. The Top Damage/Top Kills are becoming harder every week because Cordis Die continues to add top level fighters to the mix, which I am fine with, just pushes to be even better.

- Shiny as: "My preciousssssss"? 😃

Exactly that shiny

- Do you remember your fist BH medal and CH medal? When did you receive them, in which war? What were circumstances in eWorld then?

My first BH was when I was in D2 and it was after a large gold purchase, back then the BH were not divided up by divisions so it was a big deal for me. My first CH was earned fighting for eCanada. I think it was when we steam rolled into the eUK, just before Spoland had to come and spoil our fun.

- Your current national rank is 4. How do you feel about it?

I am proud of it, but I realize that there are some departed soldiers during the conflict with our neighbours to the south that would bump me down a few. While I fight a lot, my biggest boost to my XP count is my companies and workers. I use 1120 energy everyday before I even get to start fighting. Then when I add on the workers it adds another chunk of XP points. What I am more proud of is being able to drop over 10,000,000,000 dmg for eCanada on the field of battle. Earlier on some of it may have been less impactful or “wasteful” but I have become a much more responsible soldier and fight for eCanada over the allure of the Shiny medals.

- How do you manage to combine so much hp burst in comanys and tanking? Energy bars?

I make sure that I leave enough energy at the end of each day to get my working done first thing. I also log on at work throughout the day, so that adds up too. These weekly challenges makes things a bit easier as I can stock pile energy bars for bigger days and the 20energy per tick really goes a long way. (I also have both the energy buildings, so 650 base)

- Looking back on your eLife, do you regret on something? Would you do something different?

I dont have any regrets, I would have gotten my training centers maxed out on my first day, you cant catch up in STR, ever.. so thats the only thing id do differently.
