[SPQR] Drinking the Kool-Aid
weasel2
SPQR will be what people create it to be. I would assert that it can be created to solve some of the persistent problems of the eUSA.
1) Ajay
Problem: ‘nuff said.
Solution: SPQR could attract and distract elements of his AFA bloc, offering a new start for players now locked into an unattractive and stifling rhetoric and position.
2) Pfeiffer
Problem: He works at eRep as hard or harder than anybody. His valuable services to the eUSA are unquestioned. He also alienates players with his arrogance, unnecessary put downs and the demeaning of seemingly every opinion but his own.
Solution: He needs a leash. SPQR could provide that leash or force him into an open opposition thereby either muting or marginalizing his attitudes.
3) Elitism
Problem: The player looks up and says “WTF, where did this come from”?
Solution: SPQR is a broad based community of communication. The debate over it’s very existence was in the in-game media. Everyone saw it and had a chance to write and comment about it. This needs to continue. The more the better.
Problem: The player looks up and says “Who decided this stuff”?
Solution: I envision Publius not as a decider but as an arbitrator. A rather remote authority whose criteria for approval or disapproval is if an idea will be accepted by the majority and not cause a huge riff in the community. Has the spadework and debate been comprehensive, rigorous and transparent? His prestige (and that is all he has) as God-Emperor depends on his calls being perceived as being wise and judicious. That is a heavy load to carry, and SPQR could fail because of his mistakes in judging the popular will. I assert that Publius can and is the player for this job.
4) Alliances
Problem: Trying to find a non-balkanized alliance. The middle way or Est modus in rebus.
Solution: One could say that the unwashed masses don’t comprehend. Educate them.
Again, SPQR is a community of communication. This debate must be carried on in public as outlined above so everyone can have a say and a consensus or a compromise or at least a clear understanding of who is for what and who is against what, and why, can be reached.
5) The JCS and the eUSmilitary
Problem: There is a disconnect between the the eUS Military and the rest of the eUSA community.
Solution: Maybe SPQR can be the excuse that allows the JCL and other players of the eUS Military to come out and play with the usual gang of idiots. If you don’t like the MMP stack, state your case. Criticize, present your point of view, get some top 5 articles, make the stupid SPQR roll play fail, unite the country. JJ ran for CP. Bradley Reala wrote a great article. Bia, of course. Where are the other eUS Mil media stars? I dare you, come out and fight. Fighting for the hearts and minds of the people is where the important battles lie.

LOL I love my contribution being stated as "of course". lmfao I might have to add that in my wiki. Or maybe just "I am" lolol < 3
-SPQR already has attracted AFA elements.
-How many articles has Pfeiffer written for SPQR? He does not represent us.
-Serendipitous is an elitist? Bacon Empire is an elitist? Since when?
-Alliances, working on it.
-JCS are more than welcome to join SPQR. We don't discriminate. Much more likely that they'll continue to be negative though. That's just what they do at this point. No one can force them to participate, and they clearly don't have the interest to.
"Much more likely that they'll continue to be negative though. That's just what they do at this point."
Pot meet kettle.

I don't know about the rest of the eUS Military, but attitudes like yours make me just want to run around humping SPQR....with a bulldozer.
"
Maybe you should...oh I dunno...think before you type? UHDERP...I WONDER WHY. people aren't flocking to you.
I agree that the way this 'meta game' was presented was a complete failure, the SPQR spam being the worst idea of all; throwing Dioism at everyone was also a slap in the face to every citizen who isn't a Dioist and I would venture to guess that 50% of Americans are not Dioist.

SPQR's failure to come out and openly stand against 'Fluffer' and his continued negativity, failure to take a stand against his abuse of citizens on IRC; the failure to stand against his having Global Moderator access to the eUS Forums and his abuse of that power proves that SPQR has left citizens doubting your commitment to 'leashing Fluffer' and because you haven't and will not you are simply enabling his egomania....
This Adams guy seems to have a major crush on the Pfeiffer kid. It is amusing. 🙂
@bia: You are. Every knows who you are, listens to and respects you. You're like ligtreb.
I think I have made a mistake and just don't see the eUS Mil media. Could you point out some newspapers for me please? Thx.
@QM: I don't understand your reference to individual players. My point is players wake up one day and things are changed around with no notice, no media, and a snide dismissal if they ask about what and why things have changed. I can cite several examples.
I want, more than anything, to have the eUS Mil players be a part of the national conversation with all the engagement, argument, debate, trolling and stupidity that entails. Communication is what this game is about. War and who to fight is just something to talk about.
@IA: Your point is valid but I feel, premature. How long has SPQR really existed? I would say about 3 days. How long before SPQR can get a handle (or a leash) on things?
