[SPQR] Drinking the Kool-Aid

Day 1,882, 00:37 Published in USA USA by weasel2

SPQR will be what people create it to be. I would assert that it can be created to solve some of the persistent problems of the eUSA.

1) Ajay
Problem: ‘nuff said.
Solution: SPQR could attract and distract elements of his AFA bloc, offering a new start for players now locked into an unattractive and stifling rhetoric and position.

2) Pfeiffer
Problem: He works at eRep as hard or harder than anybody. His valuable services to the eUSA are unquestioned. He also alienates players with his arrogance, unnecessary put downs and the demeaning of seemingly every opinion but his own.
Solution: He needs a leash. SPQR could provide that leash or force him into an open opposition thereby either muting or marginalizing his attitudes.

3) Elitism

Problem: The player looks up and says “WTF, where did this come from”?
Solution: SPQR is a broad based community of communication. The debate over it’s very existence was in the in-game media. Everyone saw it and had a chance to write and comment about it. This needs to continue. The more the better.

Problem: The player looks up and says “Who decided this stuff”?
Solution: I envision Publius not as a decider but as an arbitrator. A rather remote authority whose criteria for approval or disapproval is if an idea will be accepted by the majority and not cause a huge riff in the community. Has the spadework and debate been comprehensive, rigorous and transparent? His prestige (and that is all he has) as God-Emperor depends on his calls being perceived as being wise and judicious. That is a heavy load to carry, and SPQR could fail because of his mistakes in judging the popular will. I assert that Publius can and is the player for this job.

4) Alliances
Problem: Trying to find a non-balkanized alliance. The middle way or Est modus in rebus.
Solution: One could say that the unwashed masses don’t comprehend. Educate them.
Again, SPQR is a community of communication. This debate must be carried on in public as outlined above so everyone can have a say and a consensus or a compromise or at least a clear understanding of who is for what and who is against what, and why, can be reached.

5) The JCS and the eUSmilitary
Problem: There is a disconnect between the the eUS Military and the rest of the eUSA community.
Solution: Maybe SPQR can be the excuse that allows the JCL and other players of the eUS Military to come out and play with the usual gang of idiots. If you don’t like the MMP stack, state your case. Criticize, present your point of view, get some top 5 articles, make the stupid SPQR roll play fail, unite the country. JJ ran for CP. Bradley Reala wrote a great article. Bia, of course. Where are the other eUS Mil media stars? I dare you, come out and fight. Fighting for the hearts and minds of the people is where the important battles lie.
