[SFP] Proposal to Create a Party Program

A Proposal regarding a PARTY PROGRAM for the Socialist Freedom Party

This is a membership-level Party Proposal, eligible to be voted on by any member of the Party, per the SFP Constitution (see the section on Voluntarism, esp. section 13.4 on Party Proposals).


Voting on this proposal is open to all members of the Socialist Freedom Party. It is an open, in-game vote using the Party Feed. (Or you can respond to this article with your vote if you like.)

How to vote (SFP Party Members only):


* Go to the in-game SFP Party Feed.
* Post one of the following statements, or a similar statement, to the Party Feed no later than midnight eRep time, Sunday, July 19th.

Here is the proposal



1. The Socialist Freedom Party shall maintain and proclaim a Party Program to help guide its actions and set common goals.


2. The Party Program shall be revised and affirmed 3 times per year. On September 1st, January 1st and May 1st.


3. The full membership of the Party, gathered in a virtual General Assembly 3 times per year, shall vote on the Program.


4. A plain majority of the voting members is required to affirm the Program every 4 months.


5. The Program is a voluntary statement of principles, guidelines and points of solidarity.
* It aims to inspire SFP members and allies to action.
* It is a practical lab book, not an eternal fountain of revealed knowledge.
* It is a tool, a pathfinder and a source of political ammunition.
* It is not a stick, a blinder or a set of laws.
* It contains recommendations for Party activists and Friends of the SFP.
* It is not a litmus test for either membership or friendship.


6. A volunteer working group called the SFP Committee for Correspondence has the job to craft, improve and popularize the Program. The Correspondents are responsible for word-smithing the Program so that it sings. They will also:
* Make proposed revisions to the Program every 4 months
* Promote the use of the Program
* Organize three SFP General Assemblies per year to affirm the Program


7. Any Party member or friend of the SFP with an idea for improving, modifying or using the Program is welcomed and encouraged to do so. But formal membership in the Committee for Correspondence is limited to a maximum of five at a time.
* Any Party member or close ally of the SFP may be nominated as a Correspondent.
* Membership in the Committee for Correspondence is ratified monthly by a vote of the Revolutionary Committee.
* A Correspondent serves no more than 3 consecutive 4-month terms without explicit consent of the Revolutionary Committee.
