[Rezo's Legacy] The Art of War

Day 3,183, 12:34 Published in North Macedonia Spain by Lord Doel

Hello there my dear readers o/

I would like to remind that as usually, most of my articles are purely based on my opinion and my vision of the game, which is a result of all my personal relations in this game and experience (which may not be the greatest, but there is wisdom even on the dumbest guy on the world, so, whatever).

Today i want to speak (like many others) about the "Syndriatica" idea, the whole Asteria existence and by extension about how the world works, and again, its wholly based in my personal experience and ideas, so i hope you guys enjoy it :3.

There has been a lot said, about why it failed or why they belived they succeded when both were founded. This alliances hold both the failure and the succeding factor, because some barriers were actually broken with the foundation of both, lets take a look at what happened in both...

Adriatica:

- Croatia woke up and took its commanding place, at least from a small while under zdlemmy's guide, the alliance worked as a team because Croatia, which is the counter part of Serbia and the country that most of the antiSerbia side expects the best, took its place as the head of the alliance.

- Albania was able to work above its own strength mostly due Colin's involvement, if you dont take damage meters in account (because well, countries are not growing anymore so it wont change anymore...), Albania put up a fight at least at Slovenia strength, so they weighted the balance in the Croatia-Serbia sphere to Croatian side.

- Venezuela might be the only country in the game that is actually growing and not the opposite, they showed the world that with balls, coordination and teamwork they can improve. It is safe to say they are the third biggest night damage in the world above USA, Brazil, Peru or Indonesia.

But Adriatica failed on something that many alliances failed in the past... they growed to quickly and without enough strength. Of all the countries inside Adriatica only Croatia and Chile are above the top16 most damage in the world, so... where would they damage come when CO is not involved? Even going further, Chile is a passionate country that only acts with brain when they fight their bitter enemy (Argentina). Aside from that they are very irregulars like all hispanic-speaking countries (dont ask me why, we are all xD). So having to protect Mexico, Ireland, Georgia, Cyprus and Italy when they cant protect themselves... well, this is why Adriatica failed. They cant pull enough damage without a very heavy investment of money.

Syndicate on the other hand has breaked some barriers, for instance:

- Greece commited to a side, they showed their colours when they simply tell Croatia "meh, no, i dont care about your wars against Asteria, i just want to kill Macedonia and Bulgaria". But they have shown the world what they want, so its easy to placate them and keep them reined, just like Pacifica and Asteria are doing, as long as Macedonia and Bulgaria are not in a side... that side is not their enemy, so Greece has turned Syndicate in a "friends of all" alliance.

- Argentina did also something unthinkable, after all the help they got from Serbia... they left them, thats a broken barrier, they were ready for a change, but in return they asked for something impossible (Latinoamerica peace), usually Argentina expected Chile to drop everything and go to their side... but while Chile embraced Greece... they did not embrace Peru, so Peru is now in Asteria and Syndicate helps Peru, not Chile... but its not Argentina fault this time you know.

Overall, there are words like "Syndriatica" or "brotherhood", but the harsh truth is that Syndicate holds completely oppose goals to Adriatica. No matter how much love Croatia gives. Greece plays their own game and Argentina, Turkey and Brazil will dance that game as long as its convenient for them. So this is not like Aurora and Sirius... this is something completely different. Croatia gambled Bulgaria, Macedonia and Spain for the damage of Argentina and Greece (even though they promised they would not do it) and their game has failed. As long as Croatia does not learn what true brotherhood is (what Macedonia and Bulgaria holds for example, where one will help the other no matter the costs or the result), they will keep putting their faith on Greece and fail on everything. This alliances have been a fun experiment, but not even close to Aurora and Sirius (which held similar goals but had issues within the chain of command).

On the other hand we have another win of Asteria... but lets look at what they have done.

Asteria suffered a quite major blow when Greece ceased to support some of its members and when Brazil & Argentina left them to join the other side.
How could it happen that Pacifica, Syndicate and Adriatica, apparently all on the same boat and against Asteria could not beat them? Simple, Asteria did nothing, they had no need for doing nothing, they simply waited like a predator, patching every whole of the ship where the water was pouring inside, like inviting Iran and Peru to the main alliance, and they kept waiting... Untill something became clear. Greece was no longer on their side so they supported indirectly the enemies of Greece, and on the other side of the world, they supported Peru (which is allied of Syndicate) against Chile, while atacking Adriatica where it hurts more (Georgia and Croatia).

But that wasnt the whole picture... they also punished heavily Argentina by tanking for Spain (something that i still think was some evil plan of Bogi btw) against Argentina. They also left Hungary and Poland alone so they would not oppose them and they simply won.

How can Asteria win? Its simple, we will analize on the next batch, how the diplomacy works, but definetly Asteria fullfilled the Sun Tzu greatest idea... Win a war without a fight, despite conquering Georgia and Croatia... that was a no-sweat job for them, because they had alredy won long before that, mostly due their enemies internal strifes.

Diplomacy is one of the best and worst things in the history of mankind. Its the art of achieve a victory for both sides and having no losser.
When you want something, you must (if you read this, simply say "Ryū ga waga teki wo kurau!!!!!" and the first will get 100cc and a friend invite to play overwatch :3) give something, and that trade must be equal in value... thus the equivalent exchange part...
In eRepublik we have nations that have goals, when two or three nations share a goal, they actually become a "block", then when some "blocks" have some common goals, they give and take from the other becoming fully working alliances.
For example, most people mock the idea behind "Ro-Hun" but actually they are the best example of diplomacy:

- Both hate each other.
- Both have no real reason (ingame) to war each other.
- Both have nothing to gain from the fight.

Thus, they both keep a peace based on their interests. No one of both is losing actually and both are winning with it. Because Romania can afford to participate in wars against Serbia enemies and Hungary is able to pursue their goal of seeking bonuses. Its like real life when France and UK set aside all their differences so they could do whatever the hell was their second option.
The was no point in keep fighting.

In the creation of Syndicate and Adriatica, there was some friendship between both (a bond created in the past), there were some common goals (like Greece hates Mkd-Bul and Croatia kinda dislikes them), but there was no equivalent exchange.
Adriatica was asked to drop Macedonia and Bulgaria without having ANY gain remotely similar to what they were conceding to Syndicate... and Syndicate was demanding Adriatica to drop mpps with two countries that alone had more damage than their own. Adriatica dropped Mkd-Bul (and Spain because the common goals between Spain-Bulgaria-Macedonia) and earned nothing from it. Syndicate never commited to the Adriatica goal of waging war against Serbia and as such... it was a very poor trade for Adriatica. The result can be seen as Croatia deleted (because not enough damage to withstand Serbia), Chile struggling to survive (because large sectors of Spa-Mkd-Bul have doubts about their "old friendship"), Georgia deleted, Italy forced into agreements, etc... but the worse is there is not even the slightiest chance of changing the situation.

Of course it wasnt either a good situation for the other side at all. Spain is also "sold" by the Asterian side to Hungary, between Spain or Hungary its quite easy to choose by looking the damages (i wouldnt choose Hungary, too many backstabs, but thats a personal choice though).

But overall... those are my two cents on why Adriatica and Syndicate have failed and have no purpouse, it seems the game is dying too... so this was perhaps the last chance of seeing the downfall of Asteria (and perhaps some lesser revival of the game between the chaos). But me, personally, i am looking forward seeing Greece and Turkey deleted by Macedonia and Bulgaria, it will be a very pleasant view :3.

Also coolpic for the traditions and an inserted video with the new feature! :3

(And for you, my french readers, this is the only good thin you have ever gave to the world >.>...!!!!)
