[PoI] New Forums and Military Modernization

Day 1,187, 00:21 Published in Israel USA by Rheinlander von Phalz

19 February 2011, Day 1,187 of the New Year. Just so you know, I did not want to be the president to move the country to a new national forum. I have been a long-time advocate for stability in that realm. I’d probably still be on the forums Israel had when I immigrated here – the ones Hoss may have been an administrator of. Do you guys remember Hoss? Well, with that all being said, let’s move to a new forum.

A Necessity

I have been assured that all attempts to communicate with the old forum administrator and host Sadeh Badeh have been fruitless. The outright necessity was there, and our Interior Ministry has decided to go forward with a brand-new forum. I am inclined to agree. We’ve already made a dedicated effort to bring the executive branch, Knesset, and the military over to our new address.

The delay brought about from the lack of the forums and then the transition to the new ones is unfortunate. We’re still trying to press forward after accomplishing pretty much everything last weekend over IRC. With the government mostly working again, the next step is to bring the rest of the community over. This presents a challenge for the following reason I have depicted with theoretical data:

I have already updated the New Citizen Message links to direct people appropriately. Thankfully, this time should be a bit different.

Getting Resettled

This is not hosted on a free forum site. The benefit is that there are no grotesque ads encroaching on our space. The downside is that there is a possibility that the server could go down just like the last time. However, that detrimental factor is mitigated by the payment already put into the webspace. Even if we lose contact with the administration, the page will remain for one year.

I feel like we have been wandering in the desert without a place to call home. No one gets settled, always with trepidation over the next forum move at the back of their mind, and fewer and fewer citizens come along for yet another national forum. Knesset is notoriously slow to get active on the forums and consequently can go a month doing absolutely nothing (I sat through one of those).

Let’s make this land ours. We’ve gone through a rough patch, but hopefully here we can settle and regrow our community.

By the way, members of the junta and soldiers are required to register. The rest of you need not worry about being the only one coming to the party.

Embassy Row

Along with everything else, we lost all our embassy topics. That means we have to start from scratch and confirm foreign diplomats all over again. Here are some helpful tips to expedite this process. As you approach embassy row, you will be greeted with one of many junta checkpoints like this:

You may be searched. You may be stripped. At this point, it might help if you have become familiar with Aeroner’s tips on how to survive in a military junta. You will then be asked to present your diplomatic papers. You will have thirteen seconds to comply. Make no sudden moves, as this may be misinterpreted as aggressive action, resulting in you being shot by the sentry.

Military Modernization

I spoke last article about plans to modernize the armed forces. I cannot go into explicit detail, of course, but here’s a general idea of what it entails. Of course you all know that this edict only becomes available if you after you have a military base. Those little guard posts and even armories just won’t do. Thankfully that is one right there in the backyard of the presidential palace. This is a junta after all!

Incidentally, do not act surprised if your military requests funding every now and then. While it certain can do its best to defend the country with sticks and stones, a little financial incentive can go a long way towards preventing you from having to learn Pakistani or something.

With continued progress and investment, we can reach higher levels. This is just simple logic behind how the new world works. I’ll leave you with a possible glimpse of the glorious future of Israel under the junta.

Until next time, Israel, keep training and getting stronger.

And remember that there is always a member of the junta watching you.
